>Revolution in video game industry and standards as a whole
>Best selling title on the platform, essentially making it the most sold game in that time frame
>Has influence even outside of video games, it wasn't just a flagship title, it was THE GAME TO OWN if you wanted to taste the future
>Carried the PlayStation by it's bootstraps
>Turned a lot of adults into video games
Fast forward 2024 :
>Noboy ever plays it anymore
>Never gets the praise it deserves despite being the only video game that changed history
>Later titles never really improved the formula that much, Gran Turismo as a franchise is slowly digging it's own grave
>Noboy ever plays it anymore
GT Sport a spin off sold over 10 million copies
GT7 is apparently above 10 million copies also.
The first one, moron
And besides, as a PS4 game, 10 million copy is quite bad, it's barely twice as Driveclub which was a commercial failure that sank it's own studio
>The first one, moron
the first game in an almost 30 year old franchise was overshadowed by its way more fleshed out successors, how could that have happened GT1bros
>10 million copy is quite bad
No it isn't. Its only games that take 8 years with a 500 person studio that a game selling around 5m is not enough. 10m is good across the board no matter what game we are talking about except for MAYBE a big Rockstar release.
Automotive culture itself fricking sucks nowadays.
Makes me not want to play car vidya.
Automotive culture is trending towards demolition derby type results due to multiple recessions, and police confiscating vehicles. Response is disposable vehicles
>GT is the only game ever made to have an impact on the industry
You can't be this clueless
Learn to read homosexual
>GT is the only game ever made to have an impact outside the video game industry
You can't be this clueless
Sport and 7 are always online so frick em (I have hundreds of hours in both)
Simgays migrated to PC where there's much better options available like iRacing and Sony/PD destroyed the in game economy with microtransactions and FOMO mechanics while multiplayer is iRacing lite without what makes iRacing work. Old GT is cozy collecting. NuGT is "Please take us seriously also spend some money".
Also the general seethe from Kaz that while GT had the reality show. iRacing has world champions at the top of multiple disciplines who learned from iRacing and took it to the track because the simulation on iRacing is significantly more accurate including the reigning F1 World Champion who streams iRacing regularly. All the popularity as an IP can't help you when the industry doesn't take you seriously.
Since when did iRacing become better than Gran Turismo lmao
It didn't but the iracing playerbase is violently rabid. Even when actual, real life professional race drivers complain about the game (lmao how does grip work?) it is they who are wrong.
This. Vr and Sim rigs are 10/10 over anything a console can do. That said the industry still sucks so the older stuff is better since the new stuff likes to block mods
Sort of appropriate thread, so: what modern games scratch the same itch as GT2? Rather not play live service shit like GT7 and I was hoping for just GT2 but with modern graphics.
People still playing tf outta og assetto corsa on pc with all the mods
Last GT game I played was 5 prologue and 5, I really enjoyed both of them I only own a PC now but I'd love to play the new GT titles.
>Best selling title on the platform, essentially making it the most sold game in that time frame
Pokemon.
Including handheld gaming isn't fair
Snoy doesn't release it on PC for some reason
I dont like cause we re in fricking PS5 and the cars doesnt get even a minor scratch hell i cant drive the wrong way either
a lot of adults into video games
>Turned a lot of adults into video games
Is this some "going into games machine" type shit?
GT Sport and GT7 are a pretty good sweetspot for a lot of people, including me.
>reasonably realistic and deep to be challenging, engaging and competitive, while not being a sweaty tryhard clunky soulless software like iRacing
What can I say? GT is still pretty comfy.
Erm you're wrong since I played GT1 this year. Please take down the thread.
>Turned a lot of adults into video games
>Never gets the praise it deserves
gee anon it's almost as if complete fricking normalgays got baited into this hobby only for them to drop it in a half-assed manner
the actual dedicated people are still grinding with GT2 which is just a straight up upgrade to GT1 and hence makes GT1 obsolete.
GT1 still doesn't get the recognition it deserves, nobody ever talks about that game, it's always GT4, GT4 and GT4
Car culture itself died out too. When this game hit the tuners spread too, and made possible with that 2000's edge to make something like NFS underground.
Now both are dead, and anything car related sucks now.
u be sayin' phonk isn't the height of music!?
>both Dodge and Chevrolet are rolling out the last Camaro and Challenger diesel models this year before going full electric
it has never been so fricking over
don't buy electric cars, is that easy
>more regulations in city's regarding fossil fuel cars with more climate no go zones
>more regulations in the car industry regarding emisions
>pre 2010 cars are getting older, rarer, more worn down in the coming ages
the only thing saving us from the Electric menace would be a EMP attack
>EMP attack
connect the dots, anon, DON'T but electric cars
Gran Turismo's biggest fault in the public view is that its not casualising itself enough
>Wont include a rewind mode
>Actively punishes bad driving
>no EPIC COOL SLOT MACHINES that give you 800hp supercars 15 minutes into the game
>no annoying storymode or latinx personality constantly annoying you with her zoomerspeak
Gran Turismo still takes itself seriously as a racing game and thats a good thing
Psvr 2. If you weren't some flatlander homosexual you would still be enjoying it more so than the last one (not that i can rec the psvr 2 over a Quest 3 with pc)
The biggest irony in terms of gran turismo is that fan beloved gran turismo that was single player campaign progression focused was never what Kaz wanted, Kaz always wanted GT to be the simgay sweatgame that it has become in sport and 7 and the fact GT 1-4 were so good was really a mere coincidence of technical limitations.
>2001
>Fast and furious movies
>F1 with Schumacher
>Initial D
>Kino GT1/GT2 racing
>NFS
>Gran Turismo 3
Around the time fun used cars were incredible cheap. Japanese RWD cars, Type Rs, BMWs, etc. Young people were interested in buying and driving them. Even new sport cars were kinda affordable.
>2024
>car culture dead
>F1 overregulated trash
>politics killed fun cars
>modern cars full of assistant systems
>modern cars are heavy, huge and expensive
>used old shitboxes incredible expensive
It's no surprise that racing games are dead if young people are not interested in cars anymore.
One of the most played PS games and the game that every PS owner has, but who has time to play it?
Every time I really like a high quality franchise, it just dies.
>Virtua Fighter - dead
>Gran Turismo - dead
>Soul Sacrifice - dead
>Metal Gear Solid - dead
>Dark Souls - dead
>Final Fantasy Tactics - dead
>Command and Conquer - dead
>Tribes - dead
>SSX - dead
>Trash Panic - dead
How can anyone say Gran Turismo is dead after the masterpiece that was Gran Turismo 7?
It elevated every aspect of the core experience over previous installments.
>Online-only slop with shit soundtrack, and less cars and content than older entries
>Masterpiece
lmao
The first time my friend showed me Gran Turismo 1 ( i was 7 or 8 at the time) I legit thought we were connected to the internet and buying/selling cars. That's how futuristic and convincing it looked.
>No Split Screen versus
This shit is straight up cancer. Forget that the game gets dumbed down every iteration, I'd still have bought it if it had a way to play with my m8s
So many hours of GT2 evo vs impreza on tahiti road with my brother
