I don't remember a single other thing about that game, and I might be mistaking it for a different game altogether, but I vaguely recall a bit towards the end of The Bard's Tale 2004, which starts as a very silly game(the tutorial mission is clearing a cellar off some giant rats to try and get barmaid cooch).
In what I assume to be the final dungeon, the narrator randomly launches into a spiel about how basically everyone the bard knew and was friends with died along the way, and the bard is now basically surrounded by emotionless spectres(including one of a cute dog companion that follows you at some point and gets killed by a monster) he conjures with the game's summon magic mechanic.

I went to school with the guy who created this show. Never watched it and thought he was a gay.
Yakuza 6 almost invoked that feeling of loneliness, but Kiryu managed to gain new allies since most of the old ones are in jail or are dead.
Would’ve been an interesting premise to see, how Kiryu could survive all by his lonesome with enemies everywhere.
