my understanding was that the good programmers moved to RT soon after launch, and the B team left behind can't work through the spaghetti code to make any big mythic path changes because they lack the weaponized grade autism fueling the original devs

Through the Ashes could have been fixed with you just fricking resting in the tavern and cutting to black, no random "LE EBIN GNOME STOLE SOMETHING XD, TO BE CONTINUED". No requirment to "finish" the mini-campaign or commitment to something that they weren't sure would sell anyway.
I don't care about low level autism, if they REALLY had to include a side campaign with other characters then they should have done the same as Kingmaker, with the characters from that DLC appearing in the main story and giving you something extra for it (which is basically what they're going to do now with the second part, which is a problem because it should have happened with the first and only part)

Most of the party interactions happen while camping. Half of the cast is either annoying (Seelah, Nenio, Ember) or boring as shit (Sosiel, Greybor). Almost none of them have any stakes in the crusade itself. Their builds are also shit on purpose.

Act Structure is all over the place. Act 1 has the only important time limit in the game. Act 3 is the meat of the game but Act 4 takes all of the good stuff away from you. Act 5 is a rushed hack job, a poor resurrection of Act 3. And the final act was a buggy rushed mess on release you fricking liar. You thought release BG3 was bad? WotR was a trainwreck on release and the game still has bugs that have existed since launch in an "enhanced edition".

Finish BG2 with Imoen Romance first. If you want to try Pathfinder, start with Kingmaker + Bag of Tricks + Call of the Wild + Proper Flanking.

I hope you were playing with BG1 NPC Project, this mod adds an actual banter/quests/events to your companions - which greatly improves the game in my opinion. It just makes your party feel much more alive, and more often be an active part of your adventure.

I started Bg3 and was confused by things. Tieflings, drows, other races present. I could make choices but the game didn't build up the lore or explanation behind the choices. I stopped Underdark area just before going to Grymforge.

You're still far too low level, most spellcasters don't become good damage dealers until mid to late game. When you become an angel you'll be able to merge spell books. You'll much faster spell progression and will be able to cast some of the best spells in the game. Be patient.

Stick to grabbing feats like spell penetration or spell focus: (the school you want to specialize in)
For the record a merged spellbook angel is going to end up spamming bolt/storm of justice which are conjuration spells
There is an argument to be made that getting the spell penetration feats on a merged angel is not needed, because all of the angel spells ignore spell resistance and you caster level (which is what's checked when attempting to penetrate SR) is going to be super high.

Angel is the default path so you can't miss it, as for the merged spellbook you can get it near the end of act 2 (you're in act 1 with that level I assume) when picking your third mythic rank.

When you reach mythic rank 3 you'll get a choice to use a separate spell book for your mythic spells, ie your angel spells, or to merge it with your oracle spell book. Just choose to merge. Keep in mind that the first two mythic choices don't matter, you'll only be locked into the Angel path at mythic rank 3. Light spoiler for when this is unlocked: You'll get during a big siege on a fortress. You can't miss any of your mythic level ups because they are required to progress.

Sneak attacks are useless in Wotr compared to Kingmaker. On the long run +x to your damage dies from bolstered magic/dragon bloodline/equipment does way more damage than sneak attack dies do. Especially when rays crit. In general Arcane Trickster is a n00b trap even in Kingmaker as it's powers are back loaded and you need to sacrifice caster levels.
