The story is that Niru, the most dedicated Maplestory player in the world, getting to level 299 with 99.993% on his exp bar (level 300 is the cap) went on an hour rant on the state of the non-ironman server and how it didn't line up with the features the other regions had, and things simply not being an option for people who want to trade and also be f2p, while also not even leveling to 300 and logging off, and ending the stream.
This is after the multiple outcries against Nexon just straight up being unfair to the player base as it tries to milk them for all they're worth, especially GMS. Niru basically spearheaded issues that would help cultivate a greater community and better flow of economy while proving that even with botters on the trade servers, the supply simply doesn't exist to meet any demand on tradable items.
This also places Nexon in an incredibly awkward spot as there was an official announcement where the non-trade servers were going to be a big priority, seeing as how most of the player-base of GMS play there, even though KMS (Korean Maplestory) has a bunch of the features in their trade servers Niru had stated basically needed to be in GMS.
If Nexon decided to just delete his character out of spite, it would basically be an mass exodus for players, and Nexon would be at their lowest point yet. This isn't really an issue to the non-trade servers as they already got enough attention and outcry before, which begs the question on what Nexon would do.
They also tried to endorse him as the first level 300 player, but he turned it down because of the state of the game.
