Sandman was one of the most controversial weapons in the game for a reason but the caber was just plain fun. Not even OP when you remember it's identical to what would happen if the demo point blanked a pipe bomb.
And while I'm at it I'll add that it's also one of the few melees demo got that remembers he's meant to be the DEMOman.

Jungle Inferno was the update that pandered to competitive players when it came to weapon balancing. The caber was nerfed for some time before that.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.

Loch N Load was legitimately OP. You're trying to argue a weapon should be both easier to hit with AND do more damage.

If you let a melee demoman get that close to your medic and your medic can't deal with it you deserve to lose your medic. Scouts are way more efficient at doing this job and yet they don't get nerfed or banned.
