Never thought about it until now but it's kinda weird that Dragonite is technically the pseudo for Johto and Tyranitar is the pseudo for Kanto as they can both only be natively caught in the opposing regions with the Dragon's Den and Mt. Silver respectively.

Youre overthinking it, if it debuted in johto its johto's pseudo, its like saying eevee is a unova pokemon becase you can find them in the wild there but theyre only a giftmon in kanto

I actually like those discussions. Like Mankey doesn't really fit into Kanto, but they're there because they've been pushed out of their habitat and forced to migrate into Kanto

I also enjoy these types of discussions. What are some other mons that have a similar situation.

        >Charizard line is from Galar
        >Lapras are from Johto and Sevii
        >Farferch'd are from Johto
        >Scyther and Pinsir are from Johto

I can't find the fun in these kinds of headcanons because it's obvious they just use older Pokemon to fill space in the Pokedex, making these intricate headcanons on where exactly a Pokemon originates from is giving Gamefreak too much credit when it comes to world building and also ignores the fact that there are plenty of places in a region the player simply can't access where these Pokemon could easily live.

If we ever got a Kanto remake (like an actual remake not whatever the frick LGPE was) there'd probably be multiple Pokemon that weren't found "natively" in Kanto all over the place, along with plenty of Pokemon from later gens like 8 or 9, just because Pokemon is a series of retcons and they throw whatever the frick wherever without thinking too hard, just like how we could find plenty of Johto Pokemon in the Sevii Islands.

I unno, maybe I'm being too no fun allowed but I think unless a Pokedex entry says outright a Pokemon originated in a certain region, then you're just gonna find that Pokemon in literally any and every region with no real explanation, Psyduck being a great example.

Why would Scyther/Pinsir be from Johto? They’re only released into the park for the bug catching contest, aka a hunting game like the Safari zone.

Because of Island scan, most starters are actually from Alola.

It’s so funny that Beldum is “Hoenn’s” pseudo when it has never once been found in Hoenn.
      >found in Sinnoh in swarms
      >found in Unova
      >found in Alola
      >found in Galar
Hell even the shiny Beldum that Steven gifts the player/uses as his ace in the anime was apparently found in the wild in Kalos, according to ORAS.

But Anon, Eevee is clearly a unovan pokemon and you're just wrong.

Mt. Silver is in Johto, the area around Mt Silver is considered Kanto for some odd reason butMT silver itself has always been Johto.
I get your overall point though.

Dratini comes from a lake in the Safari Zone

Safari Zone is basically a zoo of creatures that arent all native to Kanto.

Dratini was considered a myth prior to someone fishing one up from the Safari. They were always there in that lake, it’s just the Safari ended up being built around it.

Weird how the Dratini line is usually found in lakes even though they're supposed to be sea dwellers.

Alola is the only place to have trees that resemble Sudowoodo. It'd make sense if Sudowoodo is originally from Alola and specialized into its current form by imitating these trees. Early Alolan settlers were from Kanto/Johto, so they could've brought Sudowoodo back there.

I've always it was weird that Feebas and Milotic were not native to Kalos despite the region /literally being in Milotic's Japanese name./
    カロス (Karosu; Kalos)
    ミロカロス (Milokarosu; Milokaross)

Not to mention Prism Scales are readily available in Kalos.

Mt. Silver is in Johto, even if just barely. It's Tohjo Falls that are in Kanto.
