Played P5 when I was around 21, I was on the fence about getting it because I loved P3/4 in high school but of course I wasn't in school anymore. Found out I was losing my job the day it came out so I thought I may as well get something to do while being a NEET. I enjoyed it and the melancholic tone at the start with everyone being cold to Joker really got to me because of what was going on with me at the time. If I was working though? I probably wouldn't have bothered and if I did it I probably would've dropped it by Futaba's palace at the latest.
8.7 for vanilla P5 is pretty fair. Royal might lose a point or two from lowering the difficulty and downgrading the battle theme, but the extra content mostly makes up for it.
It's fun. The progression feels right. The main story is mostly enjoyable even with a couple low points. The music is great. The presentation is the best in the genre. How much detail and effort they put into the UI should be industry standard. Royal then improves on nearly every aspect. Take into account the game went through dev hell and a rebuild and it's amazing how well it turned out.
unlike FFXV that has one button gameplay AND A TRUE ENDING NOVEL

I don't care about modern Final Fantasy, every game is a absolute dumpster fire and this shit remake is going to be the same. Can't wait to see Persona 3 shit all over this garbage.
>20 hours of cutscenes with terrible writing in your "game"
Just read a book. Watch like 8 to 10 good movies. I can't fathom someone seriously sitting down to watch high school simulator in the time it would take to beat an actual game, or do literally anything else.
gets big marks as baby's first jrpg. everyone that's been playing them a while will tell you P5 was only better in terms of QOL, which is a requirement for children these days. Earlier games were better over-all.
Yeah, it was good. But not THAT good. I think it went on for so long because of bandwagoners, particularly those that don't normally play JRPGs. They took longer to adapt because it's not normally their cup of tea. But they gave in eventually because everyone else was. So it dragged on for years. Not to mention P5R doubling that.
What made western outlets pretend to like Persona when they always hate "anime games"?
They could finally play a dating sim while pretending it's not.
literally nobody plays a "pure" dating sim though
its always at least a porn game or incorporated in an RPG
you have to be at the same age as the characters to get it
I played P4 in high school and loved that shit to death
This
Playing Persona 5 as adult was cringe.

unsub
Sorry Anon, next time I'll just say no u rather than explain the reasoning for my alternative perspective in the topic.
I got it when I was 30, had a job, family etc... it was a great game, ending was dog shit tire though.
japan's weird boner for evil god big bad out of nowhere never fails to ruin the climax of their games
I played P5 as a teenager and I didn’t feel anything. The cast aren’t a fun friend group like in P4
This. There is no camaraderie between the group ( except maybe ann & ryuji in the beginning) everyone is just seems to only interact with the mc
The main problem is the lack of funny events, like the cultural festival in P4.
Yup, same
>biggest waste of time
how so?
Katana ZERO scored an 83.
That tells you all you need to know.
persona is shit?
no way, that's brand new information
People probably rated it after beating Kamoshida. Makoto basically kills the game because she just kills the party interaction after she joins.
>believing in game journalists
everytime
I only played it so I could marry my wife Haru
Haru, Kawakami and Takemi are all top tier, I'm a Kawakami guy myself but good taste Anon
so fvcking z4s3d
Personally i don't get the appeal.

Persona 5 was okay.
Then again it was my first big JPRG I played after this trainwreck so maybe I was blinded by how shit FF15 was
7 years later and the seethe still is at full force.
>m.
Yeah, personagay.
Why does the truth make you so mad?
Don't pirate my content, gayot
Game is kino. Deal with it.

Yeah nah, get that visual diarrhea off videogames
Enjoy the minimnalist sterile UI you like so much. Holy shit taste
never understood why this pic added xenoblade DE when the original wii game has shit UI
Nice false dichotomy but I know what a good game UI looks like.
Post here a good UI from a modern game then.
Are there any soulful games like that?
Garbage like this seems more your speed.
>dragging FF7R down to FFXV's shit level
low tier bait
>looks exactly the same
>dragging down
Sorry if the truth is hard to swallow.
7R has good gameplay and a complete story
unlike FFXV that has one button gameplay AND A TRUE ENDING NOVEL
I don't care about modern Final Fantasy, every game is a absolute dumpster fire and this shit remake is going to be the same. Can't wait to see Persona 3 shit all over this garbage.
>7R has good gameplay
Rofl
SE games have clear, smooth UIs - that should be the standard, not Fatlus' overdesigned garbage
>least delusional FFcultist
>UI should be industry standard.
No, thanks, artiste dumfrick.
>How much detail and effort they put into the UI should be industry standard.
I wish I just had a plain excel sheet for persona management and fusions
Dude game play was good but the story. I mean they were shitting on adults the entire time. Clearly it was made for teenage.
The kids are unreliable narrators anonkun. Angsty outcast kids b***h about adults and society all the time, it doesn't make them right.
We miss out on playing persona at the right time.
Don't care, ADHD kiddo.
P5 is one of the best games of 2010s, and one of the best JRPGs since the PS1 days.

>the whole Persona thread is infested by Final Fantasy cultists
You can't make this shit up
Never played it, never even pirated it.

It would lose 5 points if you couldn't frick your teach. That's the dirty little secret.
The doc is better

Okay. So what is your example of a good JRPG?
