Is it worth digging around for the Diamond edition of 1, or is the Enhanced edition better? Looking up reviews of the EE tells me things were really fricked on release, but I've been told things got better, but that the modding support never got to Diamond's level. I wanted to pick it up for co-op multiplayer if that changes anything.
>I wanted to pick it up for co-op multiplayer if that changes anything.
Play whatever version your co-op friends have. Unlike certain other "EEs" I can't think of any downsides to this one, aside from perhaps a poor value proposition since all they did was slap some shaders on the game. I think there are certain specific old modules that may only work with a non-EE game, but that would vary from module to module.
you get the diamond edition for free when you purchase ee from GoG.
>purchase
Just pirate it from gog-games.to
But the multiplayer doesn't work there?
It's closed now, ye little pyrate.
I actually support GOG if something is reasonably priced.
>run around telling everyone how you pirate everything from this one website
>it gets banned
lmaoooooo, pirategays are such morons
it didn't get shut down, moron, they just couldn't handle the cost and went private.
How is this any different? No more free games for you, sweatie. Time to flip some burgers.
>How is this any different
the site is coming back
Thanks for the advice, lads. I think I'll go with and do our co-op campaign in EE while I screw around with mods in Diamond edition.
Whoever told you that was full of shit.
That's only half true. There isn't much you can do to mess it up, unlike other games, the point was the modding and the multiplayer. The problem was that Diamond got a lot of community fixes and to bring EE up to speed they hired a bunch of Arelith goons and discord nerds. The result was that instead of a huge revival of ten times as many online players, it was more like 140% and all of it is concentrated on two servers. There's no point in using the older Diamond edition now, but the features of EE could have been better. If it's your first time then you're too dumb to understand how and why the big servers are a trash fire, and maybe you won't figure it out for a year or two. So just have fun.
Just don't play it. NWN fans are insane and the game is so mechanically bad it can't even be subjectively enjoyable
You pre-emptively call everyone else insane and then say insane stuff. You might as well have not posted.
Sadly EE has brought very little exclusive content with its existence. Yes, there are some modules that chose EE as its foundation of choice, but it's arguable whether they're worth it.
EE is very worth it if you play with the PRC. 8 classes and party control finally made up for several years of "why did I even bother".
maybe ill give it a shot. is it a MOD or official release?
>maybe ill give it a shot. is it a MOD or official release?
Official. You need to activate party control in the settings.tml and multiclasses in the ruleset.2da or so if you want to activate it in a module that doesn't come with it enabled (like a server).
EE is just an outright upgrade unless you are looking to play the ERP server.
>Enhanced edition better?
Beamdog should buy ads here or frick off.
/vrpg/ has always been a Beamdog board pfft NOT hahahaha
Play NWN2 instead.
NWN2 is godawful and there aren't even any good custom modules for it.
they have this
They still haven't fixed the bug where you can't activate the prison door in peninsula district. Diamond version doesn't have this bug but EE does.
Any advice on how to avoid initiating an RP romance with a female character who is played by a man IRL?
Don't initiate RP romance with anyone.
Sometimes you can sense it. Women tend to favor the emotional aspect more, so expect it to be a slow burn thing. Personally I like rp quality more than verifying irl identities, generally I doubt you will lose much by filtering most thirsty morons.
I never cared for online playing nor PWs and mostly fpcused on playing SoU+HotU and community modules.
Enjoyed the Aielund saga, Swordflight and Rimson Tides of Tethyr the most.
Any module recomendations? Particulary I'm looking for well written modules, stuff with an interesting story.
Honor Among Thieves
Almraiven and Shadewood
Soul Shaker
There's really not very good reasons to buy it when you own the original. All they did was put up an official server, pretty much.
I downloaded Aielund Saga but holy shit it's boring at first
Everything feels so British
And I read it turns into Final Fantasy afterwards which repulses me
I still have my Diamond on GOG which I bought before GOG cucked out and removed it. thankfully they did not cuck so hard that they deleted my digital property. I installed it recently and modded the ever loving shit out of it. Literally zero issues or crashes. Looked amazing. Played lots of community modules. Can recommend. Especially with AI for genning character portraits. Its a good time to get back into these titles.
Is Darkness over Daggerford worth it bros?
Do people still make modules for these games that people play
I've been thinking of having a go at making one but I dunno if it'd be worth it
It's understandably not as big of player base in the days of yore, but yeah people are still making these. Swordflight is one of the bigger series and it's still ongoing, Luke Scull returned to finish Tyrants of the Moonsea and is now making a new module series, etc.
