If you check his recently liked tweets, he's been liking stuff related to Super Mario RPG and posted a meme .gif based on the fat Yoshi render from that game.

No, that is in hell between Nintendo and Squeenix. It's going to be Super Metroid. Dread did well so they're going to start uplifting games to prepare for the upcoming Prime release.

People got really sick of the New Super Mario Bros. games because we got four of them crammed down our throats in six years, but I think it's been dormant long enough that people wouldn't mind a new one. No way in hell Super Mario RPG is getting remade, though.

It was one entry per console, so people were basically overreacting.
The handheld versions co-existed at the same time, so it was a lot in a short time.

Yeah I loved the energy the Devs had when they said after making Mario Maker, people asked if they're done making 2D Mario games but they talked about how they're more motivated than ever to make a great game after that and they were burned out after making NSMB2 and NSMBU side by side. Hoping they really do knock it out of the park with something special and similar to SMW in terms of cool secrets in levels you wouldn't expect and music that's comparable to that and Yoshi's Island. It'd be interesting seeing Donkey Kong and other unique playable characters
Hopefully it really is Chrono Black person 2D-HD remake.

Yeah that's not possible. Like 95% of Mario RPGs main characters and enemies are not Mario characters, including all the bosses. The story would also not make any sense because the whole idea is you're fighting weapons made by a blacksmith god.

It could be that he's haivn a giggle m8 and it's both a 2D Mario AND a SNES classic. Which only leaves Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island.
Both of those games are fine and a remake would only make them worse. Although that's really the case for most Nintendo SNES games. The only exceptions are like the two Star Fox games (primarily graphically).
Of course, making the game worse has never stopped anyone from making a remake before so I guess it doesn't matter.

I feel really sorry for Sonic Superstars, it will be out around the same time as the new 2D Mario and Mario is getting the movie boost plus there is more pent-up demand for 2D Mario sinc eit's been 11 years since NSMBU whereas Sonic Mania was only 6 years ago.
NSMBU Deluxe has also sold over 15 million, Sonic Superstars is going to get killed over the holiday season, maybe Sega should delay the release date?
