Development priorities are still just as moronic as they were for base AtE, and muslim dev doesn't even hide his blatant self insert anymore. I tried this mod, most religions are kinds copy-paste. israeli (reform), Islam, Fidelli, Freighter (on islands), Diocesan (Christian religion), Keshian (jain peacefull religion), Woodrunners, Aphite (atomists but cooler [I guess]), and Presidial + Theodemocratic gov.
Old Regime gov sounds pretty good for mercenery/retinues based army. (more taxes, LOWER army) and of course. Bureacratic goverment, ruled by this gigachad ruler.
It's a decent concept, but it needs at least another year of dev to be interesting to play for longer then an hour or two.

But also, after being confronted about it (again), a deal was made that barely addressed anyone's concerns. It was a bad enough deal that a lot of people who had a problem with things (how much of an issue people had was roughly proportional to how much work they actually did on the mod) quit after reaching the "agreement", which was pushed through to avoid having to talk about it further in Purim (israelite holiday).
It's popular on a troon server. I don't think there's any deeper reason than that.

Actually, the vast majority of the work was already done before this happened. Only Mexico and California remained to be done. Like how she took over the mod after Ofaloaf dropped it, 9kbits should be able to see this through to release even without the support of any other competent person. The cool ideas that had been internally discussed for California probably won't be implemented, but Mexico was a mess without any especially interesting plan anyway.

In theory, the future is unknowable, but it's very unlikely. The final FF releases were a shitshow because everyone competent had already moved on to CK3, leaving a bunch of idea guys with big ideas and no implementation ideas, shepherded by a few of the main devs (mostly Nico) who volunteered additional time trying to shepherd that mess in addition to working on CK3. Nobody who has the ability to fix it has any desire to get involved in it again. For it to get fixed, the most likely way is for some autist not related to the team to do it themselves and release it.

The difference is Christianity is widespread across the whole map, with many different local variations. Making that many of them meaningfully distinct is a lot more of a stretch than making a couple Rasta mansions meaningfully distinct, for example.

Usually the reason is just not being very good. There are some good latin devs but there's also some that are, on their best days, still not actually any good, and yet they remain convinced that their ideas must be implemented (and when they try to do it themselves, usually make a mess). There are also some like that for other regions of course, that's how Open Range Feudal happened.

That's mostly because almost everyone stopped working on it to work on CK3 instead, and because of scope creep. The worst devs, who at that time hadn't been invited to CK3, had sway with only a couple other people (mostly a Brazilian troony (not that one, the other one)) did their best to make it some how get finished and not be utter shit. CK3 doesn't have the same problem, or at least it didn't for most of its life. Some of the same people have filtered in now, but at least there's a final checklist for releasing to beta, with everything not on it being deprioritized. Although progress on those things has slowed down a lot, there's still work being done.

Fallout mod is harder to make since you have to be a little creative to simulate feudalism in the fallout world. That's why no one has ever tried it. It doesn't mean that it can't be done.
Yes, it could happen in theory. I'm just telling you why it doesn't happen and won't in the foreseeable future. Technical issues and conflicts with the world's premise are smaller issues which could be overcome. But nothing can or will be made unless there's attention and interest from either a relatively large group of people who are both dedicated and hard-working, or an uber-autist. And CK3 takes more work to mod than ever, which is why even among the big overhauls from CK2, which already had teams ready to go, none are fully ported yet.

There was never any point raised that that it can't happen in the sense that it's not theoretically possible that it could be done, given the right people working on it. Rather, it won't happen, and can't happen in the sense that there's no realistic likelihood of the circumstances for its creation arising.

For what it's worth, Crisis of the Confederation was impressive for doing as much as it did, even if it never really got to a truly playable state. Its very likely the mod will never come out due to the troon infestation and most of the actual coders either leaving or becoming inactive after the failed Coder Coup to oust Giraffe, 9K and their cronies from the team.
The rest of the competent coders such as the brazilian troon were purged soon after, leaving the coder part of the team pretty much dead.
Now they are trying to fill the lack of coders with newcomers, but they don't know how to code and have to be taught, slowing things even more.

I edited a version of AtE to be like this, but I ended up deleting it by accident. Honestly its not too hard to do, all you have to do replace the e_dixie flag with the old one, redo some localization for the dynasties, and replace the regular helmet in the dixie headgear gfx strip with the dixie cap from the old version. Also delete the race=tuskegean in the founder of the HCC and his descendants so they are all white.

The only reason it didn't is because most of the server is semi-inactive and most of the ones who aren't are too invested in the mod to risk killing it. The ones who would have a chance at successfully rebelling without killing the mod already did an ultimatum, but they got israeliteed. The troony gave them an agreement that was technically a compromise but didn't actually change any of the problems, causing them all to get demoralized and leave or stop contributing. Then, like a month later, he abandoned the agreement anyway.

1.2 is the final version, as bugged as it is
I gave it a spin. 6/10 at the moment, but I am surprised at how much potential there is for an alpha release - I see a lot of potential if they fix certain stuff and add more content. The biggest issues at the moment:
-One of the bookmark characters has an event that softlocks the game
-Lot of small bugs, like missing localization or broken events.
-Not a lot of content for some of the small religions or anything really past the first generation, so gameplay gets stale after your first character dies.
What I like:
-There's a lot of potential for stuff. I like the character focus they're going for with the events, since that's why I primarily play CK2 (and its not a mess like ck3) and it can be really interesting.
-They seem to have fun with their content. They've got the Dominionists and the treehugger religions, as well as theocratic anarchism. They don't seem to be concerned about social justice concern trolling, which is surprising considering the main FF team is chock-full with that.
-They are pretty active in responses to bugs, and I hope they continue
In general, I'd wait to play this, but it has a lot of potential provided they don't abandon it like most ck2 mods are.
The only thing AtE doesn't have to do is make the falklanders brown.

Finding his self-insert fingerprints on Fan Fork content is like an Easter Egg hunt. I swear, every time I load up the game, I find something new that he fricked with. Like the artifact that the Emperor of California starts with references his self-insert.
There are scattered Muslim rulers ruling over non-muslims across the US and Mexico, like the ruler of Newark and some rando down in South Mexico. There are Muslim mercenaries and Muslim patrician families in various Merchant Republics.
Also, all of the Socal dukes still have loads of Muslim rulers in their history, though that really doesn't matter that much. It still goes to show the lengths he went to meddle in things that did not need to be meddled with.

Not really, I only took a cursory glance at the event file and tested the event chain a few times, but it's something I really want to tackle soon, I was just too focused on fixing all those little things touched by the self-insert

btw modman concerning the religious tolerance laws, the devs also apparently modified the demand conversion decision itself in 1.2 and fricked it up as well. You get constant demand conversion spam from different religion AI lieges as a result, very annoying.
Someone on the discord made a submod of their own to remove tolerance laws and it includes the removal of the demand conversion decision as well, you can take a look if you like. Probably worth incorporating into your mod, I tested it and didn't get conversion spam anymore.

Because of that I think that this should probably be a submod for now and not yet a fork, because there’s no reason to try to fix the bugs yourself when he’s doing it. I generally trust that the update shouldn’t exacerbate the key problems that the fan fork left and will probably be only improvements. The main concern with the Muslim is his self-insert tendencies which we aren’t even talking about removing anymore, just some minor nerfs, and I don’t think that his fork is probably going to relate to any of that since those are some of the areas in the game which were most focused on in the Fan Fork.

I think a big problem with removing his self-insert (and other self-inserts as well) is what do we replace him with? His character adds content to the region (even if it's pretty ridiculous at times), and I'd rather not remove content unless we have a good replacement
I actually used that mod for awhile (at least until updates broke it)
then I used part of it in my own personal mod (only made two major rivers navigable and added my own merchant republic though, since opening up the rivers created a viking hell world that I had to rebalance)

It’s the Viceroy. I’m not sure if they changed the way it works in the final update, I’ll have to check, but it used to be that an orientalist event army of 60k would pop up and take all of Florida, only to die off a few decades later. I’ll look into if it’s different now

Oh he’s actually fine now. I forgot that Zak II/Imamite were already nerfed in the final update by reducing starting Imamite counties from 3 to 1, although his event chain is still kind of silly for giving him marriages for free with either the princess and heiress of Baja or with a nearby countess despite having different religion groups, but I guess it doesn’t really matter much since the AI can’t navigate war with the Carmines well. A human can easily become king of Socal as Zak in ~3? years from start date, but even then vassals are going to be hostile anyway. I don’t think his events should be removed entirely since they add something interesting to the area. Most importantly I forgot that they added the OP Eden invasion of Socal which completely fricks Zak over anyway.

I remember making my own personal mod too back in the day. HCC and Edokko flag changes to Confed and Imperial Japan, added some republics along the rivers. Ending stripping out the right wing flavour and just released it as a rivermod.
Now that 1.2 is abandoned it might be worth doing a fork that cuts out everything south of Mexico and North of Prairieland, restores the cool flavour and refocuses the mod on the American Core.
I'd had agreed to cut Mexico and below when that region was basically a placeholder but right now it has a pretty interesting content foundation

Got a confession to make: I inadvertently caused California to be fricked in After The End. Years ago some mod dev was asking for California ideas, and I suggested a Romance of the Three Kingdoms setup - but by that I meant a larger decaying empire teetering on the brink and entering into civil war between a variety of former vassals turned powerful warlords trying to either prop up the old regime or start a new one. They only heard "do the Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and straight up made California into China and the characters copies of those from the epic.

- Part of the "ATEFF - Religious Toleration Revert" mod has been incorporated into this mod (Namely the fix of the Demand Conversion decision).
- The Vermelha dynasty has had it's name reverted back to Vermelho.
- The "Crown of Los Angeles" artifact now referes to the King of Socal, rather than the Emir of Socal.
- Removed Carmine rulers from the history of Oceanside county.

Those two things are connected. It was released half baked for the same reason that it won't get an update: The development process was a shitshow with most devs and basically all management having already switched to CK3 development, so only unskilled idea guys were left, and a very few competent devs trying to keep it from being an even worse shitshow than it already does while also working on CK3. This is also why it took so long.

Thanks for your hard work anon, think you could revert Mictlantec back into what it was as well? It used to be an Aztec revival religion comprised of avatars of various deities, but it was changed into yet another boring heavily syncretic religion.
Oh and by extension, could you revert Qabantajik to Uahomche? Uahomche was a much purer form of Mayan religion initially, but yet again, they changed it into another very syncretic religion, barely distinguishable from Neomayan.

California has a bunch of moronic religions now. One of the troon devs has an obsession with stupidly obscure occult and new age shit so she puts it everywhere. Cetic has been split into two religions (imperial and pseudo-communist) named after yoga chakras (can’t spell them.) There’s also humanistic Buddhism, Kabbalah, and Sufism. Californian Christianity has been replaced with Rosicrucian mystery cults, there’s a Wiccan hacker religion, surfers on Catalina Island (ironic, ik), Ashtar Galactic Command (a Cold War era UFO religion) in the Mojave. There’s really too many stupid religions to easily list them all. There’s a ski lodge cult, Dungeons and Dragons, Posadism, Jesus but he’s Che Guevara actually, random LatAm artists, way too many Mayan religions (which are varying degrees of new age and Christian), incomprehensible “native” faiths, 1,000 catholicisms. None are very interesting nor do they really have unique features.
Personal I like wacky religions as well as staring as ruler with obscure small religion and turning it into one of the dominant beliefs on the continent. But if religions has to be deep as puddle, than I would rather see then cut on the religion count and work more on the rest.
They were made numerous with the assumption that filling them in further would be after initial release. Initial release just ended up taking for fricking ever because CK3 is a pain in the ass to dev for, and also there was a lot of turnover as more experienced devs got fatigued out and only young incompetent trannies fill the gaps.
I'm definitely going to play the fan fork made by the actual coders, not this mess. The split happened before California (and Mexico) and that version redoes the Ways to be a bit less generic and makes them full faiths with mechanics to keep them still nominally united.

Second post was about some of the non-Cali religions. There’s like 150-200 all told. There’s loads which only occupy 1-5 counties. A few dozen don’t even exist at game start (e.g. Draconian, the DnD faith, and Greenbacker, which is consumerist but americanist syncretic and they worship wizard of oz characters. I wish I was making this up.)

I'm surprised viking/norse faith seem to not lose at all any of its territory. Not only because how they broke down California and Mexico, but because I remember there was some blog post talking about how they wanted to add religion that's more based on the region folk.
They did add that, but the people who did the work were cisgendered and the trannies decided they didn't like those people or their work. And it was honestly kind of a boring religion, anyway. Like the pagans of the slavic and baltic regions of vanilla, it was just generic non-Norse folk religion with little content and even less given the contrast.

unfortunately, not all of the self-inserts have it, so finding them all might be a pain
though a lot of self-inserts are in the special.txt characters file

Long story short: Old World did some edgy stuff, main mod devs got angry and so began work on a secret mod for the old world (Eurasia) and once this came to the light the Old World folk got pissed. The ATE troons also wanted them to remove all their work from their mod, mainly religion icons and shit.

I tried getting into NEOW but I just couldn't. It felt like there were too many memes and references, far more than ATE. I think relegating references to courtiers rather than rulers (ie IASIP characters in ATE) is for the better
