Besides, Factory's terrain is wastelands, not desert. You can have both. It's going to take some time for Factory to be ported to VCMI, though.

I'm happy that slavs finally began distributing computers powerful enough to play a 25 year old 2D turn-based game but it's puzzling that they latched on to a game that wasn't even great for it's time, let alone not even the high point of it's own franchise. If they wanted to obsess over cheesing incapable AI and having multiplayer battles, at least pick something like a Knightsoft game.
I'm still early into the first scenario, but I have to say I do dig the town screen, very pretty. The whole aesthetic is alright, I certainly prefer it to the original forge designs. Feels a lot like HoMM II wizard, just with wild west mixed in for some reason.

Download the HD mod, if you already have it then under graphics change the mode to (stretchable) 32 bit by verok. Don't forget your resolution either.

I use brz4, try out the settings until you get the ones you like. That should take care of all that extra space you were talking about though.
