We've reached the point with mods where Squeenix couldn't shit out a Remaster that looks better without jacking half the mod makers work.

And fellas, unfortunately, there are valid criticisms of FFVIIR, gameplay alone. The ATB slowdown can easily be modded out and the game is already even more to play.
There was one person who said that a Gambit system would improve combat and I can't help but agree. Gambit setups for the two other characters not under player control would work immensely with no ATB slowdown on the player character whose gambits are turned off. And of course the requisite jump button.

setting the AI to be more agressive or defensive =/= gambits
I think Stellagay meant that Nomura should think about more complex automation. Gambits don't let you use Quickings but they give you more leeway over what commands get streamlined so you can think bigger picture strategy and input some commands here and there.

Considering what i think of Horizon, it doesn't fill me with much hope.
It's pretty linear at this point in the original, though. Didn't really open up until the third act, which will presumably be the third part. I'm still expecting some big fields to mess around in, though.
I doubt it'll be too shut in. FFXV, for all it's faults, did have a particularly open world.

There's still no way of knowing if they're going to do this or not. The only gauge is the next part and seeing how far into the original story it goes. If it's another 5-10% of the ps game stretched to over 60 hours then they will.

Well I don't know about you but when a shitty sequel is made, I usually don't go around trying to get all further installments cancelled. Dark Souls 2 was bad but I didn't try to get Bloodborne shot down. And there are plenty of DaS fans who think that there should have never been sequels, that the first one was fine as it is. I doubt many of those players are seething that the two other games exist even if they hate to play them.

Also, to answer your question. Maybe it's Terminator style time travel. The time jannies came into existence in the future, and as they left to the past they left the future. If they get destroyed in the past, they don't exist in the future. They don't even exist in the previous future from which they left, because they left. In every situation where they cease to exist in the present, they can't exist in the future.
I'm really wondering how they will handle the level progression, materia, abilities, etc. It's a continuation of the last game, so are you going to start with the abilities you already learned? I doubt it because that will be way too many abilities, on top of the new ones you'll learn. I'm assuming you'll start with a few different materia and you have to start over on collecting them. The gameplay is not canonical anyway.
I'm hoping they will borrow Crisis Core's materia combination ability, it would suck to just throw out all the materia you got from part 1.

Yes? Triple slash is simply the best attack to use for DPS and its lock on makes it braindead. Focused thrust for pressured enemies, and blade burst if you're doing a magic attack focused build, other than it's mostly triple slash. Infinity's end hits damage cap on staggered enemies by the time you're in hard mode so it's not worth using, using 2 triple slashes is more damage and won't miss. Of course counterstance is satisfying too, but you have to wait for something to attack you first so it's not spammed as much. So triple slash ends up being 80% of what I use.

FF7 Rebirth has the potential to become the greatest game of all time and no amount of shitposting can change that.
FF7 remake had extremely satisfying combat with a lot of customization, but gameplay outside of that was mostly horrid.. In intergrade they made the pacing and the traversal of the world surprisingly good. If they can repeat that for a full game it would be a lot better. The shitty gameplay during the slums and wall market is what makes replaying FF7 remake a chore, even though I'm already replaying it for like the 5th time.
I liked the fort condor minigame in the dlc. The game needs more world building like that instead of fetch quests to find children or whatever.

You can have the whole "Lonely Cloud" scene while not cutting the basement outright.
You could implement it in such a way that Cloud pretends to be the "asocial tough/all business guy" and refusing their invitation only for him to drop his guard and show his true feeling as he listens to them being loud/friendly with each-other, and then from that point allow the player be able to access the basement when it's empty.
You could then on top of that additionally add a cutscene here with Cloud inspecting the basement and looking at the stuff around there and looking lonely/sad and Tifa looking at him from behind with Cloud suddenly feeling a glance behind him and turning his head only to see that nobody is there(since Tifa left before he could notice her).
See how much better it could have been done?
