New PC gamer here, can anyone redpill me on why pic related is bad?

New PC gamer here, can anyone redpill me on why pic related is bad? I've read some articles on it and the consensus seems to be vague, ranging from "impact on performance" to "intrusive always online requirements (you don't have to be always online)" to "just pirates seething and malding". I've apparently played a handful of games with it included but I don't recall having any issues or anything, which confuses me since this is treated as a make-or-break thing for a lot of other PC gamers.

Can anyone loop me in on what is the deal? I want to be mad too.

Apparently it uses system resources while the game is running and hinders performance but I've never had any problems with it. The only people who hate it really are pirates.

Seems you made a mistake there chum, only people that pay for games deal with drm.

Well, I mean pirates hate it because sometimes it means the game won't be cracked at all. Shin MegaTen III HD for example

As long as games still get ps4 versions it's not biggest problem for pirates. Those usually get cracked pretty fast

I guess the random online checkings in singleplayer games are bad in general, but that's not denuvo unique thing.
I haven't had any performance issues myself

It slows down loading due to code obfuscation which is usually in the startup processes (though devs can but the obfuscation checkpoints anywhere in the code, it won’t go in hot path if they’re smart) and also requires periodic calls to the home server to allow the game to run.

It’s not the literal worst DRM of all time but it demonstrably makes the game run worse. Games which have it patched out almost always see at least some performance improvement.

    >backup the denuvo ticket and game
    >refund game
    >get goldberg or whatever emu
    >can now play the game without and issues for free
imagine how morons and zoomergays still haven't figured it out

      >denuvo ticket expires whenever you update or plug in new hardware or sometimes just runs out arbitrarily.
I'd like to just pay the money and own my fricking games without dealing with any of this DRM cancer thanks.
it's all your fricking fault for buying denuvo trash guys. in an intelligent world, when a denuvo game is released it should get 0 sales and the publisher should be getting threats until they're forced to remove it every time.

yes that guy has no idea what he is talking about. creating denuvo tokens has many issues and doesn't work with every game anyway.
it is the most desperate option for the most poorest and most impatient ones

How does one locate their denuvo ticket?
and so there's nothing special about goldberg, it will work with smart stem emu too?

    >Buy single player game.
    >you don't actually own it and it's server dependent.
    >bloated and runs like shit cause it has malware attached that has nothing to do with the game and no excuse to exist.
    >the game will be stolen from you whenever the servers shut down.

imagine paying full price for something you don't even own, it's baffling there are people stupid enough to justify such a scam.

I think it also makes it impossible to preserve game versions because not all of them are cracked. You can't play the release version of Lies of P without the balancing changes on PC while you can do that for Armored Core for example. I never buy games so I might be wrong.

what other reason do you need besides you allowingly installing a malware in your system to play single player game? People said chink games are bad for messing with kernel but open their doors widely for denuvo.

Denuvo rapes both CPU and GPU, especially CPU since it's constantly writing stuff in it to make sure you cannot share a game with anybody.
But since i have no friends at all, the stupid Australian algorithm is just raping my PC into AHEGAO state just for the shits and giggles.
It feels like a hardcore cuckold porn funded and produced by BlackRock.
And i bought those fricking games...

It puts obfuscation checks at random points in the gameplay, and for example in Injustice it causes slowdowns during specific special moves.
AssCreed origins was famous for stuttering because it had denuvo callbacks every other random step.

so the performance issues are caused by incorrect implementation on the devs' part?

        Anonymous

like with sonic mania the devs don't do it.
the publisher hires some pajeet c**t who probably works for denuvo to just shove it in the game.

BTW the amount of acceptable callbacks is '0'. because it has nothing to do with the game and therefor the ghostware should not even be open taking up ram and CPU to begin with.

it makes Mexicans and other southern Hemisphere browns not be able to get free games. That's it.
They make wild stories about 'muh performance' while they're on barely running toasters and what not, but it's all cope.
With only an insane troony sometimes cracking Denuvo games, the age of free games for these poors is over, hence the monkey screeching.

You do know that Denuvo - now that it's paid per subscribed time - is mostly removed after 6 months after game launch or some such?
All people have to do is wait for 6 months, and not everyone is a fomo brainrotted homosexual.

But I don't want to support a company that puts denuvo on a game for 6 whole months.
buying the game at that point is is just supporting denuvo. it tells them they can have their cake and eat it too.

Who the frick is talking about buying? Games getting Denuvo are over 90% AAA-trash for the lowest common denominator anyway.
Wait 6 months, and if you don't have anything else to play or do just pirate the game that is now pirateable.

            Anonymous

yeah denuvo is a great indicator for a game to be complete dog shit 99% of the time. they're not even worth playing even if they didn't incorporate denuvo or drm. I'm kind of glad they give us red flag like that.

Unnessesary bloatware that adds nothing for the gamer himself, while taking up performance and storage space just to prevent poor people from enjoying your game.

    >buy game
    >cancer always online/server check type DRM
    >game will be unaccessible in a few years when these servers die
no one liked multiplayer passes, no one liked Xbox bring always online, you're a sheep if you're ok with this.
Next you'll be ok with paying online like on consoles too, honestly you just need something to ease you into accepting shitty practices, like how microtransactions are ok if it's just "cosmetics" in a full priced game, despite said game having a customization appeal (like d4).
    SHEEP.
But muh pirates, that's like that argument against protection of privacy. If you don't want someone spying on you that means you're doing something wrong, it's moronic sheep like mentality for corporate wienersuckers
