People act like they're massive game changers, but all they do is either force you to save ammo or force you to backtrack. There is no real skill in dodging zombies when they have insane windup animations that are incredibly easy to walk past, and the game gives you like 30 defensive items.
I have no idea how people got gaslighted into thinking an ACTION GAME (and yes, every RE game up to that point had been ACTION GAMES and this one is no different, it still does a pseudo ranking at the end even if it doesn't use a letter grade) would be improved by telling you to NOT engage with its combat systems.

Capcom's new strategy for resident evil is to remake 1-4 continuously while ignoring all the spin offs as well as 5 and 6. Then put out a new entry every few years to make it seem as though the franchise hasn't gone completely stale.

I look at it like this, DD2 seems to have a few areas of hiccups, mainly in Vermud, and in some areas on the roads where stuff loads in when you run up to it, the more 'smaller' games they make with RE engine like resident evil remakes the more they'll refine the engine I guess.
Plus you have to remember its mainly Ganker who shits on remakes not everyone wants to go emulate stuff or dig out old consoles for older games if they aren't on psn and those people are willing to give a remake a chance, not like they come out yearly.

RE 9 is in development, if any of these rumors are true at all.
But didn't they lose the source code and a lot of the art assets for the original REmake? You can see in the remaster from 2015 that some of the pre-rendered backgrounds look pretty rough, just compare it to the RE0 remake which it seemed they had access to all the original files.
the actual problem I suspect is the way they handled the timeline kind of ruined potential for new games in the series, the main cast is too fricking old to really make new games now so they either redo the past or change the timeline or something, I dont think people want games starring rose for instance, people are still attached to leon, jill, chris etc.

It's RE1. Kenichi Iwao, the original writer, left Capcom after Mikami fricked him over and went to join Square instead. The man who helped write RE2 and was later involved with every piece of RE media except REmake, 3, and Gaiden was involved with everything else listed there as part of Capcom's and his own push to make RE a massive franchise.
The sound dramas were considered significant because at the time, they were the only insight into Raccoon City's fate, and they were even foreshadowed, like Ada's sound drama getting directly referenced in RE2's EX Files.
RE3 didn't consider any of this because it wasn't a main game. It was an arcade style spinoff that got hastily promoted when the real RE3 was cancelled and Kamiya went to work on RE4 on the PS2 instead. Jill's usage in the game is pure happenstance as she was the only character not currently being utilized in an upcoming game.
Which one is that neat little story about a town out in Arklay with a minor outbreak due to some morons eating an infected animal? It's kind of silly that Jill is there literally the day before RE1 but it's a cool idea otherwise.

At best, the remake only does a greatest hits of one of them, completely removing a full scenario where Ada finds the G-Virus in the RPD and Sherry never gets infected.

They didn't. Replaying Tofu Survivor seven times isn't added content compared to a Randomizer, six difficulty settings, or EX Battle.
The closest you get to EX Battle is Ghost Survivors, and even then it is still a far inferior mode since it's so obviously slapped together and the characters are just blatant reskins of Leon and Claire, whereas EX Battle Chris was a legitimately different character than Leon with different health values and could do things like tank an upgrade shotgun's recoil, whereas Leon would step back a full foot.

They did indeed remove some of the possible permutations of events that came with A/B, but these specific events wouldn't be canon anyways (more interesting non-canon events happen, like Annette throwing the bazooka in Claire B)

Tyrant also isn't explained in the OG (besides "that monster who's been tearing down the precinct", which is ambiguous with G), there's no "in-game reason" for him to return after being dipped in molten metal/having half of his body ripped off by G, besides your prior knowledge from RE1 that the Tyrant mutates after being damaged

A ton is too much, IMO; A lot of the content was re-organized or outright expanded (Marvin, Kendo, Irons himself, Ben), and not that many events are straight up cut, like the alligator fight

I wish they had kept Extreme Battle too, they probably did Ghost Survivors so that they could leave the arcade for Resistance (terrible idea), but I wouldn't say it's vastly inferior to EX (which didn't seem to be all that popular compared to RE3 mercs, I've never seen a lot of mention of it being played)

No, she was usually able to be left in a safe spot while you did the arena battles. It was more to make it easier for the player (and reflect that Leon wouldn't put Ashley in danger under any circumstance). Nevertheless, Leon's response at the end gives the impression, combined with him literally saying she doesn't need him, that he doesn't see himself as her savior or a role model or future partner or anything. We see this a lot in Hollywood productions, where older, wiser, more established male figures are not allowed to teach younger, presumably less experienced but strangely fully capable female characters anything (see: Rey and Luke Skywalker, or Helena and Indiana Jones) or assume any mantle of superiority due to their higher level of experience and knowledge.

They didn't make her into a b***h like RE3make Jill was, but there are changes there that go beyond just making her a bit more involved in the action/story.

That’s because you’re supposed to shoot them until they stagger, and then run past them. Alternatively, you can shoot a leg, or both feet, off to greatly reduce their mobility, shoot their arms to increase your chances of escaping their grabs before you get locked into a qte bite, or if you really need them dead to clear out a room you’re absolutely sure you’ll come back to, or you need to kill them to progress, use something strong like Leon’s shotgun and magnum or Claire’s grenade launcher and smg to put them down fast. There are plenty of options when it comes to dealing with the zombies.

I don't hate RE2 Remake like some people do, I think it stands well enough on its own, but for how many beats they tried to 1:1 in the RPD itself even with various alterations or remixes, the fact that the rest of the game is so stripped down or radically different really gets my goat. And Raccoon City was so visually distinct the way it was handled back then, but now everything's so blandly clean and utilitarian because they're just straightforward environments to rush through and never look back.

My 2 cents: To me, the OG's backgrounds look so distinctive due to a mixture of their limitations in technology and color palette, and their own lack of knowledge of what those places would look in real life, and not in movies. They're soulful charicatures of 90's American cities viewed by dudes from the other side of the world who didn't even realize that lanes in the US are much larger than in Japan, and other small details that compound into becoming something unique, almost dream-like but grounded. The basketball court background looks like it came from a street scene on a black sitcom.
Nowadays, with pre-production being much more detailed and accurate, things end up looking too dull and less stylized. The blue, desaturated filter on the remake reminds me of a Netflix show's color correction and post processing, it doesn't look natural despite being much more realistic in graphics (and kinda looking like RE1.5 too). This also makes it so that inaccuracies are mugh harder to forgive, like the out of scale cars in the police station garage in 2R.
Limitations are essential because they center the focus of production on everything else. Nowadays they can put thousands of hours of work into something and it can come out as a bland husk of shit.
Just look at 16bit BGM, so much music that was composed at the time has remained a staple to this day. When the only thing you had was the game, unless you made it properly you couldn't sell it with a straight face.

The Remake seemed to think it was a spooky autumn Halloween game. It should feel like a hot, sticky late July night in the Ozarks where it's still pushing 80 degrees at midnight and the humidity is so thick you can barely breathe. 7 did a really good job of feeling like a nasty fricking swamp house so maybe they can pull it off.

5 and 6 are almost guaranteed but will probably deviate from the originals far more than the ones we've already gotten have. Capcom wrote themselves into a corner by getting rid of Wesker in 5 and it showed with the rudderlessness of 6. There's also more 'problematic' things that will need to be addressed, such as the 'racism' of RE5 and how to handle Alfred in a modern remake where any connection, no matter how tenuous, to negative LGBT tropes and mental illness is strictly off-limits. That may be enough to make them pass over CV entirely and just confine Wesker's new powers to the remake of 5 after teasing him in the RE4 remake.

-Make all the enemies animals and infected white mercenaries that Wesker brought with him
-Make all local Africans immune to the virus due to living around the flowers for generations
-Bonus: throw in a comment or two about the white man once again raping the continent and destroying the lives of the local Black folk. Have Chris just stand there and accept it.
