Literally the problem was that the level design is arguably the worst level design in all of fps history. It's just that bad. GIANT and I mean GIGANTIC empty levels. Someone makes 6 decent levels somehow people might like it.

I loved the show because of the kids going on adventures, especially for holidays. I want that, not political shit for an entire season and back-to-back Randy episodes.
It's obvious that as they get older and less whimsical that they identify with the adult characters more than the kids so Randy ends up eating more and more screen time as the seasons went on. It's funny as he was just a background character along with most of the other parents for the first several seasons too.

I have to give the SP creators credit going back to the N64 era that in general, they put a lot of love into their games not just cashgrab shit. Stick of Truth and Fractured But Whole both did well in this regard most recently. Fractured even had a more advanced Mario RPG style combat system (go check out the strip club boss fiight for some examples here and as the club DJ calls out everything you and the strippers do , while you have to avoid the mega-nigress who will ass stomp you in one hit)
However all of these were single player focused games. Co-op could be good, but I'm really skeptical of multiplayer that they won't shit it up with expensive skins, costumes, microtransaction shit, and battle passes. Now maybe Matt and Tray, being oldgays will put their foot down on this shit (they did a whole ep against mobile monetization) but we'll have to see.

IIRC the story mode was balanced in a way that you could beat it for free but the real predation was in the PVP element like most gacha games. It is pretty funny that your ending changes depending on how much you paid.

Looks like crap, and it seems they still don't understand part of the reason why Stick of Truth worked so well.
The gimmick worked because most of the attacks were things that the kids would realistically be able to fashion out of what's around the house AND they would actually hurt. It's shit dumb kids would do in order to make it "real" and not just play with their imagination, and it's why the attacks would actually work on Adults too. All of it fed perfectly into the idea of a kid's game that blew up to epic proportions.
Then FBW came out and they switched it all to imagination, and instead it relies on the joke that everyone would just play along, even if they were pissed off adults or Lovecraftian elder gods. That's absolute weak sauce compared to the original, and it's a real shame they're doing the same here despite hammering in the whole "we're playing on a Snow Day thing."
But maybe I just have a stick up my ass; if this sticks to kids-only, then yeah it could probably be excused as being entirely their perspective

Really had to give credit for that one having real expansions, I think one was From Death til Casa Bonita where the vamp kids were going to transform everyone into lame vampires (per se)) and it was up to New Kid and the party to defeat them alongside the goth kids; Henrietta was even a party member who could be recruited and so was Mint-Berry Crunch.
It was just Kenny's sister they were trying to indoctrinate so it fell to New Kid, Mysterion, Cartman (if you fed him enough) and Henrietta to save her from an unlife of lameness. Fun DLC but it was only about a hour long, same with the horror movie one.
The best part was being able to use the new characters immediately in a new game. Henrietta is OP.

Season 20 was when I finally stopped really caring. The preachiness wasn't great, but what really clinched it was the fact that the last 4 episodes were completely lazy due to not even trying to change course after the election results didn't go their way. I can get why Ep7 was the way it is, but for the rest, nah.
There's still decent episodes in the seasons after, but most of them weren't that funny, Randy became more annoying, and it did start to get preachy in other weird ways. Moss Piglets still sticks out to me as weird, since they take a moment to go on about something like "if you win at something and want to use the fact that you're a winner to get chicks, you're exploiting women."

you need at most 17 sprites for an item, 8 for level, 8 for looking down on, and 1 for on top if it would be visible
you could also just skip the looking down on sprites since they aren't really needed if it's first person so it's just 8, maybe 9 if it's a hat or even just 6 if it's symmetrical

Fractured Ass wasn't significantly worse, but it was a definite downgrade. There's probably more replayability in the second game. I very rarely replay games, but I actually played through both games twice. Fractured Ass was much more enjoyable the second playthrough for me. I think the DLC helped it, even if it made the game braindead easy (I don't think I was able to beat Morgan Freeman my first time, but he was pretty goddamn easy with Mintberry Crunch). Pretty moronic the first game never got DLC.
I replayed them both earlier this year, FbW gets more flak than it deserves really. It's much longer than the first game and while most of the more current show references (for the time it was released) flew over my head I still had fun with it. I played it on V.Hard so even regular fights could kill you if you didn't watch what you were doing. Pretty great soundtrack too, each enemy group having it's own theme was nice (too bad the game didn't commit to the late game change of all the groups teaming up against you as it barely lasts until it goes back to normal).
Last leg of the game definitely felt rushed as frick though.
Problem with FBW is its hard to separate the game itself to these people from the media franchise it's mocking.
While SoT is a GoT ripoff, GoT leans much heavier into generic fantasy tropes and Tolkein aesthetics that Southpark could impliment.
Where as FBW is just a straight parody of Capeshit, the phases etc and popular superheros. Sure there might be some DC stuff sprinkled in but still, much different aesthetic.
I prefer the combat in FBW over SoT, and paper mario fanboys might kill me or whatever but I'll take it.

Anyway, I really liked the first game, but I felt like the concept of a "south park" game kind of wore itself down by the end and I just couldn't get into the sequel as much as I'd tried. Was Fractured Butt Whole any good?
I found Stick of Truth to be surprisingly decent and enjoyed it for the most part.
I only played FBW and i enjoyed it quite a lot. Go with the hard difficulty (Mastermind ) though, i restarted after i found normal (Heroic) too easy. Although i haven't replayed the game after they made the hardest difficulty available (Diabolic). The DLCs (even the challenge) DLC were fun for me too.
It's a slow start but once you start unlocking other powers and are allowed to mix and match it really starts to get fun.
I liked Fractured, if only because it felt like it was made by people who actually watch/enjoy(enjoyed) the show and threw in a LOT of early-season lore and references, although the ending just kinda happens, and your enjoyment will probably depend on if you think the Mitch Connor thing is funny, that episode divides a lot of anons based on the SoT lead-up threads
At least one of the gameplay devs clearly grew-up on Working Designs' stuff, and the battle system feels like a mix of every tactical JRPG they brought over, Arc the Lad specifically, but it's a lot more blatant with things like the martial artist moveset being a 1:1 copy of Karate Jean in Lunar 2. Like the other anon said, it's kinda easy on anything other than mastermind/diabolic, I did diabolic playthrough 2, and you REALLY need to play smart while stacking bleed and other effects more than you usually do and save your good items, the psychic healing ultimate is mandatory for later fights, with the DLC's adding what are basically JRPG superbosses
The music is also surprisingly really good

South Park has a similar quality trajectory to Simpsons. Early seasons are uncomfortable, middle seasons are good, late seasons are sparsely enjoyable.
The main difference being that Simpsons hits higher peaks and lower lows than South Park.
the main thing i hated with the first game was there was a lot of permanently missable shit that required another playthrough, especially if you were an achieve prostitute
