di2 works fine and is much better than di1
Eh, I played it and the engine really does seem to fall flat compared to DL2 (never played DL1) The movement and climbing seems a bit out dated. Like, why can't I climb over this fence? Oh, because I'm not allowed to go tot his place yet, or it would make travel too easy.
Especially after DL2, where I felt I had a lot more freedom to explore, the card use of character build also seems a bit weird and random, not allowing you to just build your character the way you wish and relying instead on some sort of deck building aspect which is just not very fun to me.
Nothing to do once campaign is completed, while being rather short and hits suddenly.
All these years they've done nothing but made some rebalancing tweaks, useless armor skins, darker nights and have released extremely sloppy DLC. None of the content really makes the user replay the game.
And the best part of the game, the Elysium map which they showed in E3 years ago, is still nowhere to be seen.

played the cracked copy so I cant talk about online but the gameplay itself is just fun, I would go back to it just to mutilate those motherfricking zombies, game probably has the best gore system I've seen

I can't speak for the co-op since I never played the games for that. In terms of length I'd say it's about as long as the original Dead Island, which is to say a very short story mode at 8-10 hours, with quite a lot of side quests/collectables getting the experience to around 20-30 hours.
I had a lot more fun with it as an action game compared to the original Dead Island, but the RPG elements are disappointing and lacking compared to Riptide. I still prefer the old skill-tree system more.
I think the one thing that would add a lot of replay value to Dead Island 2 more than any expansion would be a proper New Game+ mode. Just copy what the devs did in Borderlands 1 where a second playthrough increases enemy levels and the quality of loot. Or at least a proper "Hard" mode.
Dyling Light 1 would have been more fun if the combat wasn't forced at times given how clunky and unsatisfying it was. Fighting human enemies especially sucked.

NTA but he starts out as one of the more cowardly of the cast, but obviously becomes braver as the game goes on. If anything he's one of the more normal of the cast compared to the black dude basically being British duke nukem/AoD Ash Williams.
