I was just thinking of picking violet back up again and now I remember how just generally unfun raids are in pokemon
why are they doing this to us? aren't there any playtesters to go "hey, this is boring at best and frustrating at worse"
Ironic since Azumarill will be much much better in the next raid. Hisuian Samurott is probably going to be Dark, and even if not, Azumarill resists almost all of Hisuian Samurott’s coverage.
People are speculating that this will cover the unused 7 star raid typings. The remaining ones are Dark, Ground, Steel, and Electric.
I'm probably bringing a modest hp/spatk politoed to this
Unless they make it mixed just because typhlosion's movepool is so shit, it'll probably set up sun and have solar beam/eruption/infernal parade/extrasensory
Politoed is better off as a supporter in this raid
It doesn’t do enough damage on his own
I know we don't know the moveset and all, but what are some good pokemon I can breed or transfer from bank for this raid in order to not be dead weight?
Physical attacker: Huge Power Azumarill with Misty Terrain/Rain Dance (Shell Bell), Guts Ursaluna with Belly Drum/Earthquake/Headlong Rush (SB)
Special attacker: Manaphy with Tail Glow/Rain Dance/Scald/Take Heart. Kyogre with Rain Dance/CM/Origin Pulse/Water Spout
Supporter: Grimmsnarl (Prankster Misty Terrain, Light Screen, Fake Tears, and Spirit Break for special attack reduction), Drizzle Politoed (Helping Hand, Mud Slap, Rain Dance, Surf) [SB]. Umbreon (Screech, Fake Tears, Light Screen, Snarl]
>People are speculating that this will cover the unused 7 star raid typings
They've already proved they're not doing any of the missing with the Hisuian starters, given they made H. 'Eye grass type and H. Typh Fire type. If they wanted to fill out the missing, they wouldn't have given H.'Eye a Grass tera, but actually filled out the missing types instead.
those types were missing, no Mightest pokemon had gotten the Grass or Fire Tera Type yet

And they doubled up with Mew and arguably Pikachu too (because of course the shillmon mascot was going to get dickrode). But even only Mew proves they're not above doubling up on tera types, meaning it's just as likely they fill out the Hisuian starter set by giving ol' Sammy a Water tera type. Your problem is you think "that's all she wrote, so it has to be something from what we got". they could just as likely run an archaludon raid and give it a fricking form, given its pre-evo had a fricking Gmax form too or something, because they have another year or two of this shit to shill before relegating it to VGC games.

What are you talking about?
Mewtwo was the only psychic type.

And if you challenged Mewtwo with a Mew and beat it, that Mew got the Mightiest Mark to become an Unrivalled Mew, just like the rest the 7* raidmons, functionally doubling up on Psychic Mightiest Markmons.Keep up frickwit.

The Mew they gave you for the event could have been any Tera type, so it does not count.
Other Mew are just Psychic by default. With that said Mewtwo was clearly on a separate difficulty tier so I am not sure if Psychic counts or not.

>"n-nuuuu, it dun c-count, dey were any type"
That just proves there's a double up, because why go to the arse of Marking Mew with the same raidmark as the rest, all hinted to have a form change from Khu if they're not going to give it one too (hint: They are. that's why they ran the event for two fricking weeks to ensure those who wanted Marked Mews could get ALL the Marked Mews they wished)?
Ya lost shithead. Eat it up like a good little 'tard.

Mew only gets a Mightiest Mark indirectly and any Mew can get it, not just the one in the event, so again it does not count.
And the Mewtwo event on its own is unique. It is not only harder (fully trained base points, held item), but the prizes you get are much better and it is nearly impossible to clear solo.
All 7 stars are run for 2 weeks - it has nothing to do with Mewtwo specifically.

That's a lot of words to seethe over the fact you're wrong son. See you in two weeks when they announce H. Samurott's raid.

They weren't that much better. Not enough to put up with clearing it multiple times.

So, since ALL of the starters are returning in Indigo Disk, will the three of the four final free type slots be filled by the Unova starters? Before, I had my doubts they'd even make it considering they weren't on the Switch in any degree.

No, they're not native to the base game and they only run 7*/event raids in Paldea (I got halloween spawn outbreaks all over kitikami, but no Mismagius raids, despite them happening at the same time).

So who will the last three types go to? The Paldean starters
It’s almost guaranteed to be on December 12/13. Exactly 3 months after.
Hisuian Samurott should be in early December (November 30/December 1 or December 8).

I'm betting on Samurott being 17th-19th and 24th-26th. DLC released shortly after. I wouldn't be surprised if we get an special raid announcement for one of the paradox legendary or a Mythical
Does that mean you can catch the pokemon multiple times, or just farm the drops? I only got the game recently, but I remember hearing you could only get Walking Wake / Iron Leaves once per file
>How do these raids work?
You have to find the Tera Raid Den somewhere on Paldea, after updating your game and connecting online once to receive the raid data. You can check which specific raid den is yours by checking the map, look for a black den mark with the correct type symbol as the raid's. Then just travel there and interact with the den to choose a Pokemon and either invite other people, or begin alone. If you begin alone, 3 npc trainers will fill in the spots players normally would.
To unlock 7-star event raids, you need to first beat The Way Home and see the credits. This unlocks 5-star raids.
After this you must clear the postgame Academy Ace Tournament at least once, and beat at least 10 5-star raids. This unlocks 6-star and the event 7-star raids. This Typhlosion is a 7-star raid.
>Can you farm them or do you only get a shot at them?
You can tackle the one on your map until you clear it. It will then respawn elsewhere the next day, or you can change your Switch's date to forcible respawn the raid dens. You can only catch the 7-star Pokemon once, and subsequent battles treat it as if you chose to not catch it. You can also check the online Tera Raid request board, and join raids that other people are hosting, including the same raid, even if you've already done it that day. Players whose Pokemon are KO'd in raids decrease the timer, while NPCs' KO'd Pokemon don't. They also award a shitload of prizes, including Ability Patches, Herba Mystica, EXP candy, Tera shards, and valuable sellables.
>Can you reset for nature/gender/ivs
No. The 7-star raids all have max IVs and a set gender and nature. They also can't be shiny. They do come with the Mightest Mark mark, which gives them the title "The Unrivaled".
Also the raid Pokemon have an illegal moveset of around 6-8 moves, some used at thresholds. They can also separately clear their debuffs and status ailments, clear player buffs and disable Abilities, and steal Tera Orb charge. At a certain point in the battle they'll raise a shield, which significantly reduces all damage they take, and generally requires Terastallizing your own Pokemon to break the shield.
Dual screens are always good. Raid actions can't clear that, and none of them so far have carried Brick Break, Raging Bull, Defog, or Psychic Fangs.

I'm thinking of using Garganacl because of purifying salt, it's going to be great for support thanks to wide guard and recover. Not sure he can solo though. another possibility would be water veil Dodonzo, you just know this will be a burn spam raid.
I'm probably bringing a modest hp/spatk politoed to this
Unless they make it mixed just because typhlosion's movepool is so shit, it'll probably set up sun and have solar beam/eruption/infernal parade/extrasensory
Regular Typhlosion's raid already did the sun/Eruption strat so I would bet money it's going to focus on burn + Infernal Parade combos. Hisui also gets Calm Mind, so it's probably going to have that and be full special instead of mixed, making Focus Blast more likely.
Hisuian Decidueye used Leaf Storm when it was mostly physical so I wouldn’t count out the chance that Hisuian Typhlosion will run at least one physical move.
I think the final moveset will be Eruption/Lava Plume, Infernal Parade, Solar Beam, and Earthquake, with it setting up Sunny Day, Will-o-Wisp, and Calm Mind periodically.
Otherwise it gets shat on by Hisuian Arcanine and I would imagine it having counterplay against that.
I'd love it to be female to contrast J. Typhlosion, not gonna lie. That it does seem to have feminine cues and the last Unrivaled female 'mon was similarly based off a feminine design could be an indication as to their intent.
I mean, so far ALL of the 7-star raids have been male except Delphox, so it would be nice to get another female anyway regardless of whether or not it contrasts with the normal version that was released. Like you said, Hisuian Typhlosion is probably the best option for that, since it has some cues to its design that could be interpreted as female.
I was just thinking of picking violet back up again and now I remember how just generally unfun raids are in pokemon
why are they doing this to us? aren't there any playtesters to go "hey, this is boring at best and frustrating at worse"
they don’t want to put any actual effort into postgame
They are really fun.
Good question, the average raids are fricking atrocious
We already know there are no playtesters because you'll buy it anyway.
Raids in general were some of the most boring things added to the main line games, influence from GO most likely. GO and its effects on the franchise.
>fun
they're quite the opposite.
>they are boring because you have to think a strategy instead of just mashing A
God i hate Pokemon players.
>same type as its regional

Starters of the new Legends game.
H-Decidueye was the first Grass 7-star raid, and H-Typhlosion is the first Fire one.

So this basically confirms the dlc is in december unless they pull another Mewtwo situation
I really wonder if GF hates Paldea that much that every single desition is Bad on porpouse
Not like I care because this gen panders too much to people who shouldn't be pandered

How do these raids work? Can you farm them or do you only get a shot at them? Can you reset for nature/gender/ivs?
7 star rairs are always locked to 6IV and specific nature. You can farm them once a day or all the time by changing your clock.
Does that mean you can catch the pokemon multiple times, or just farm the drops? I only got the game recently, but I remember hearing you could only get Walking Wake / Iron Leaves once per file
You can only catch once. Other attemps it will always run away but you get the drops.

Im certain it will at least have Infernal Parade, Lava plume, and Calm Mind

Set up moves will be Sunny Day, Calm Mind, and Will-o-Wisp.
