It's overly complex. Most people don't have crypto wallets. Linking a credit card to a game is easy but signing up for the equivalent of a bank account is a tougher sell.
It's mainly because NFT's almost immediately ruined their public image. People see crypto as a stupid form of unstable currency, but NFTs as worthless trading cards with extra steps.

They literally turn any game predicated on them into "play to earn" - you can't just play for fun anymore, everything has an immutable value in real money, which means people will play it not to enjoy the game world but to make money, because they know the developers will not simply one day say "Hey, I know you fricks are selling runs or you're otherwise trading this item for a lot of real money, we don't want that to happen, so now its easy to get that item because we're changing the drop rate" . The whole thing is a major shitshow and NFTs and "blockchain/crypto" gaming has to be stopped or else everything will get some much worse.
We tried to warn you about horse armor DLC. We tried to warn about lootboxes, gatcha, microtransactions that aren't micro, "cosmetic" item malls etc.. and "just don't play it/don't buy" isn't enough to keep it from spreading.
