it took until HGSS for the second portion of the English logos (e.g. Gold, Emerald, Platinum) to be more than just a white font with black outline text
I guess one good thing about the English version is that they all use the same design for the “Pokemon” part of the logo, instead of changing fonts and colors all the time like Japan does. Makes it more boring, but also makes it instantly recognizable.
Also, Jesus, I never noticed how bland the Eng logos for Pokemon were until HGSS, just using the same fond. Even when they finally try styling with HGSS, it's not as nice as the JP ones.
I think they recognized that the logo really wasn't supposed to be the exciting part, since it's seen in the context of box art and the box art is the part that draws in the eye.
XY was when gamefreak took control of their English titles because localization was done at the time of release. They probably did not want "version", unlike tpci's homogenized nonsense
TPCi only started translating the games starting with BW, Nintendo usually handled localization before that. I'm pretty sure TPCi has handled the translations since Gen 5.
Wtf, why did the Japanese Gen 8 logo copy the ugly yellow and blue colors from the Western design?

>good
You kidding? That's what makes it bad. It looks garish and dated.
god. even the logos where they try look bad compared to the original. that shit ass yellow pokemon logo needs to die. why did they force it into every damn title.

So what I'm seeing here is that if the English logo could find a better way to show "Pokemon" we could get some slick logos. The cartoonish blue and yellow nature of the brand name is what's actually holding the design back.
The English Logo seems to have completely missed the point of Black's logo. The black is the black dot in the Yang part of it. For some reason white's english logo doesn't seem as egregious to me
They're both cheap. The Japanese seem to think a ton of outer strokes, embossing, and effects make a good logo. >t. graphic designer
But honestly, I like when they do it.
Dude the difference is obvious.
Look at the flared tips of the Japanese lettering. The contrast between the yellow and red instead of sort of brown and orange. That's the key.
Are you really a graphic designer?
Just because it's in Japanese, doesn't make it good.
>actual textures with proper outlines and drop shadows on a slick typeface
vs
>default photoshop gradient option on weird squiggly text
I can't read japanese, therefore it's worse
Skill issue
it took until HGSS for the second portion of the English logos (e.g. Gold, Emerald, Platinum) to be more than just a white font with black outline text
That's why HGSS are superior.
Damn I've seen some of the Japanese logos before but shit. They didn't even try before HGSS... I especially like the Fire and Leaf symbols on FRLG
Tag yourself.
rse+frlg+dppt
my zoomer home
same but also HGSS
by the time BW came out I was too old
DPPt, HGSS, BW
But I hate everything past Gen 5 nowadays.
So unique. So brave.
Anyway, which poketuber?

I think the JP Crystal logo has got to be my favorite one, love it.

Everything on the left looks FRICKING EPIC
Everything on the right is just like meh
Midori and Crystal.
i'm fond of the english GS icon, of course. the generation 4 logos are very nice, both JP and global.
The 3D effect for the Gen 6 Japanese logos is a nice touch
The w*st really does ruin everything huh
Frick XY for removing the “version”s.

NoA is worse than tpci anon
Gen 8 reflects the fact that they started to focus on Americans at the expense of everyone else.

Because of morons like
Fwiw, the only time japanese side used "Pokemon" instead of Pocket Monsters for main series was PLA, and they changed its colour to fit the game
PLA was special
SwSh truly was the downfall of everything
english USUM is superior

As far as I'm aware, pic related is the only time they haven't used the standard blue and yellow logo on something official in the west.

I thought the opposite
>ngl it's kinda funny
>It's not funny at all
Zoomers really have infiltrated this place.
Are these 'zoomers' in the room with us right now?
As I've answered before zoomer-kun,
Yes and it's kinda funny when

>>t. graphic designer
yeah you would say that with your shitty low effort minimalism
I don't like it either honestly.
GameFreak represents all of Japan??
Dude the difference is obvious.

I thought so too.
Our logos look like shit.
any graphic designers care to make stylized english variations of the title screens
found these on reddit
it'd look really good if it wasn't capitalised
plus the handakuten doesn't really work on the capital P
Cool
I hate these, seems juvenile even when compared to the blue and yellow logo. Turns out it's just a matter of:
>letters
:
>letters, japan
😀
You probably don't realize this but 'Pokemon' and 'Heartgold' look "cheap and amateurish" in the Japanese logo
no they dont
