It's a normal city for a completely normal guy. Normal as in... plain... average... unremarkable... run-of-the-mill...
I'm pretty fond of normal cities, you know? As I'm fond of normal pokemons. I'm about as ordinary as you can get. People, cities, Pokemons... there's no need to overcomplicate things.
Nowadays people only seem to want a shock factor. Something weird, something bizarre. Cool cities. Cool Pokemons. At the end of the day, though, nothing beats the relief of coming home to your small, normal city, even after a fun vacation. When all's said and done, simplicity is strongest.
I also like normal trainers that use normal pokemon
>clearly meant to be a normal type trainer
>the most fitting signature pokémon is even normal type
>made into a fairy type specialist anyway because there’s no way they’d give that type to a boy
Hey Larry, you free for lunch today?
I remember playing on this map in GMod back in the day
MAIKING BIGG CHITY TOU HARDEU, PREASE UNDASTAND
I'm playing Fallout 3 (2008) right now and somehow it looks way better while also having buildings interiors
wtf
buy anyways you'll it
I've never bought a pokemon game in my life besides Red as a kid.
Emulators for life b***hes
you guys will complain about anything, huh?
If anything, for being an RPG, it's amazing it isn't complained about more. People always discuss shitty cities in RPGs, but in guess people are used to pokemon having bite sized towns.
fog effects exist for a reason but GF didn't seem to catch the memo
That's the bad thing about "open world". If it was a separated map you could have a city for you to walk and a background city. So you will have the feeling that the city is huge when it actually isn't.
imagine living in this building
jesus christ lmao they really put no thought into this. frick every homosexual defending this piece of shit game
Anon, have you ever seen a city in your life
Stuff always looks small if you look at it from above
Is that Vice City?
I had no idea it was this small...
>vice city
>a game on PS2 with sd resolution graphics
still looks far better than pokemon scat/vomit
Everyone knows Vice City was small, you can make a full lap in like 2 minutes but it's a game from 2002 not 2022
It's also the only city in the game. Though I agree Pokemon cities should be much better than this.
I think the issue with these towns is that they are just splattered on this plain map, so when you climb up high it looks jarring. instead of actually making instanced areas which are built with purpose it's just a few stock assets slapped on an open field without consideration to impact on the overworld map.
Seriously, they look like something thrown together in Spore Galactic Adventures.
The game really could’ve used more cities like Porto Marinada or Montenevera where, quality of the city’s content aside, they actually felt integrated into their environment.
Gamefreak also needs to stop having cities be “dense” if they’re gonna be so small. Going from an open field to high-rise buildings with no smaller buildings first will always feel jarring.
I've said it before and i'll say it again. This game will have the least memorable region in all of pokemon.
Name your least favourite pokemon game. I bet you, you can describe half a dozen of the towns or routes.
Other than area zero and the school I don't think a single area in this game is memorable
If I had to remake Scarlet and violet I'd split the map up into chunks.
That way the map could be more focused on singular themes for the chunk. For example, seasons. Winter, spring, summer, autumn. Instead of everything having to mesh into everything else.Towns would be their own little loading screen with much more focus into what the town is itself. You could even have the towns themselves have little patches of grass or areas to catch pokemon.
But anything other than this weird obsession modern video games have to make everything Botw/Genshin open world crap.
Biggest red flag for me in modern gaming is the zelda glider.
>driving in infernus while listening to Died in Your Arms
bros...
AND I RAAAAAN I RAN SO FAR AWAAAAAY
No way to control it! Completely automatic. Whenever you're around!
Because standards are a lot different with mainline Pokemon. Kids still buy it, and you'll buy the next entry.
The funniest part is Gamefreak tried a “big” city with Mesagoza and it fricking sucks too. They just don’t know how to fill a city with meaningful content. It’s the same 5 shops copy-pasted every 10 feet and a bunch of winding streets with nothing to discover in them.
Castelia City is a lot bigger than the biggest city of SV lmao
It’s absolutely not. It has more to do, though, because it has actual enterable buildings instead of glorified menus.
this. if skyrim is as wide as an ocean but deep as a puddle, then paldea is as wide as a lake but deep as- I don't know. there is no depth
2015 hardware
Small indie developer, please understand.
You bought it anyway.
I can't believe this is a screenshot from a game made by a professional studio and funded by a huge conglomerate that was released last year
because you bought it anyway, pokepedofurry
still better than castelia city, bortie
Nice headcanon, curryboy.
>Can't really go into any of the buildings.
>In every city.
Wow, cool.
Incorrect, you can go into the sandwich shops, which all have the exact same interiors and nothing to do once inside.
Isn't that just some sandwich shops as most are just a menu when you enter the door?
It’s this type of shop, iirc they all sell the same sandwiches and their only real point is the guy who teaches you recipes.
Wait you can?
The only store interior I remember is the noodle bar gym.
Everything else was just a purchase menu
It's not acceptable but you need to understand that this city is on the open-world, with no loading time. For the first time ever in a Pokemon game.
It the previous main games the cities were still their own maps while still being smaller.
Also you purposely choose one of the smallest city on the map and you could still house hundred of people in it.
>Also you purposely choose one of the smallest city on the map and you could still house hundred of people in it.
I don't think anyone cares about the real world logistics of a fictional settlement.
>It the previous main games the cities were still their own maps while still being smaller.
Mesagoza is its own map and is complete garbage. Six or so repeating shops that just open up a menu when you walk through the door. It is functionally the same as walking up to the register to open the menu. What is lost is the ability to suspend this Bayleef.
tl;dr Gamefreak were unable to make a quality game
I don't think any area in this game will be remembered.
Maybe the school town but other than that.
The SV cities sucked ass, but I did really enjoy Cascarrafa, graphics aside.
A sandstorm blew in during my gym battle with Kofu and knocked out his pokemon. It was terrible.
It was a cool city and has the best outfit shops.
