SierraLee is genuinely terrible at writing porn. The characters are good for dry observational humor, but when they frick once every few hours it feels like an obligation for them, the story as a whole, and the game mechanically to start doing something else immediately after. If it just kept things to an X rating the game would improve immensely, and the shock to the crowdfunding scheme and resulting kick in the pants might've made the actual game parts not suck shit.
The only japanese porn games I have ever played where I actually felt engaged with the story were Sengoku Rance which is far away from being niche and Nymphomaniac Priestess which is still a work in progress.
Other than that I guess I can recommend VTM Redemption which is the ugly big brother of VTMB which everyone ignores, I guess. I don't know if Expeditions: Rome would be considered niche as well, at all but there is another one I thoroughly enjoyed recently. I'm quite a normalgay when it comes to videogames and normally stay within the AAA titles so can't really recommend more.
There's an h-game named Ouroboros that I need to get around to finishing. The plot involves the local court magi trapping the MC in a repeatable time loop so he can't rescue the princess.
I've played some RPGMaker-esque games lately (Ara Fell, Rise of the Third Empire, Divided Reigns) but I can't say they're too much beyond your standard medieval magick politicking, despite being enjoyable.
I feel all the big mindfrick titles (my own personal preference) would be hidden behind subjectively atrocious old graphics in earlier versions of game-making programs.
>Ouroboros presents a bright, cheerful world in which something is horrifyingly wrong. The hero has a princess to save and a quest set before him, but there are unsettling signs that all this has happened before. As you play the game, you'll come to realize that the dungeons and monsters are meaningless distractions from the task of uncovering the truth. >An unorthodox RPG with time travel mechanics and the ability to manipulate events down multiple alternate paths. The combat is quick and fun - with no character levels, there's no need to grind! Instead you'll gain new strategies and techniques as you uncover deeper levels of the story and get closer to the truth at the heart of it all.
While my post does technically contain a spoiler, you learn that datum very early into the overall game.

isn't that Black Souls.
i like how TLS started with making fun of mary sue, chosen one heroes, only to immediately make the MC into a demon sex god with mind control powers, that makes every woman he meets want to frick him (without him having to use his powers btw, hes just so super cool and special and awesome and also a DILF).
though the premise does seem interesting and I really like the giant war/siege events, only wish that Simon wasn't such a man-prostitute and that he could remain loyal to hiszombie wife
It just shows how the sierra is nothing more than a pretentious hack
You do realize that the MC is precisely isn't a manprostitute, and that he isn't actually forcing the sex on anyone, and is wary as frick about it right?
Probably not.
>the MC is precisely isn't a manprostitute, and that he isn't actually forcing the sex on anyone, and is wary as frick about it right?
that was the point I was trying to make anon, Simon is portrayed as a morally just person who would never frick demons or take advantage of women, HOWEVER since this is a harem porn game, the plot is forced to create outlandish situations for him to justify the shitty porn scenes (like, a bunch of characters having le sex corruption addicktion and purposefully becoming Simons's sex slaves in order to make him less of an butthole for adding them to his harem)
It just feels like a mixture of wanting to make a dark serious story in a ridiculous world full of sex magic, while trying to keep your paragon demon lord OC clean by shitting up your supposedly serious world. Or maybe im getting filtered idk. I can't seem to get into Sierra Lee's games even though they get recommended a lot.
It's been a while since I played but eventually he does start to question and outright reject a lot of these scenarios because he dislikes them, I mean ultimately as a sex focused game the protag is gonna have to get his dick wet, that how it's gonna be, but I feel like there's enough self awareness about it that it doesn't ruin the premise.
>Simon is portrayed as a morally just person who would never frick demons or take advantage of women, HOWEVER since this is a harem porn game, the plot is forced to create outlandish situations for him to justify the shitty porn scenes
Simon and other characters directly bring this up in the game, and how ridiculous it is that he keeps being forced to put his dick in women, and them trying to find out why/stop it is a running aspect of the game. Like it still happens but they don't ignore it and Sierra attempts to bring it into the overarching plot.
I always recommend people this game but I never actually see anyone ever talking about it. Its a contender for best western RPG maker game ever in my humble opinion.
It's not perfect by any means, the writing can get really pretentious and there's a lot of hypocrisy, only some of which is called out, but its huge, there's tons of reactivity, the characterisation is great, its actually somewhat balanced, there's good dungeon crawling, the non-dungeon choices actually matter, there's cute girls, and the dev is actually going to fricking finish it unlike 99.9% of all western h games.
I am still mad they made Robin a heroine though. Her character was more interesting and her interactions more meaningful when she wasn't fricking her dad, and Sierra jumping in with "anyone who didn't want her to get fricked was just fetishising her in a different way and is just as bad, haha" was infuriating.
At least, their relationship is earned, it's not much, but it's something.
>"anyone who didn't want her to get fricked was just fetishising her in a different way and is just as bad, haha"
jesus
Got an actual source on that quote. I can understand the logic behind the argument that's presented because they also discuss it between themselves and it's a valid point. Robin and Simon despite him being her adoptive father are both adults who can think for themselves and just outright rejecting her because of her prior relationship is also disregarding any feelings she might have herself.
The whole thing sort of reminds me of the Hanako route from Katawa Shoujo, where the bad end happens because the MC ends up white knighting Hanako too much and doesn't take her own feelings into consideration, just basing them of her former trauma, and assuming she needs to be protected.
It's not a direct quote, I'm paraphrasing the argument in game and that Sierra made in comments at various points. The points Sierra and the characters make to support it are all based on Robin and Simon wanting to frick each other, which is fine but misses the point since they are fictional characters whose wants are at Sierras whims, while the arguments against them not fricking each other is that the player wanting Simon to have either a close friendship or familial relationship with a major female character that he does not have sex with is an unhealthy view that puts purity on a pedestal and fetishes it, which IMO is nonsense. When the Robin sex update came out there was a number of people unhappy about it, and people unhappy with the people unhappy about it.
I mean ultimately one should consider it from Robin's perspective. She's always portrayed as the straight man in a lot of situations, even her roommates at the magic school make fun of her for being a nerd. So when she gets brought along the party she tends to assume the serious party member role a lot of the time. Which she is, but to say she's 100% serious all the time is also to disregard her feelings. It's likely that she's had her dad crush, or distinguished man fetish for a long time, but likely tossed it aside as any serious consideration, considering Simon's personality and still somewhat holding on to his feelings for his old wife, but then he starts getting sex powers and seems to bone any woman he encounters.
So those feelings she's tried to bottle up end up frustrating her immensely, he's literally right next door fricking one b***h after another, some of whom he doesn't even like. So she breaks and confesses, and the answer is outright rejection just out of hand, because "It's weird" or "It's creepy", like frick yeah that would dumb as all hell, especially when you consider the the way the game world operates, where you can frick plants but boning an adoptive daughter is somehow wrong?
That's the point though. All of that reasoning is from the in game perspective that Robin wants to frick Simon, whereas the argument against it is why did Sierra write Robin wanting to frick Simon. People with a problem with the relationship didn't want Robin to be miserable and cucked, they wanted Sierra to not write Robin with those feelings in the first place. And its not the moral aspect (although some people did have an issue with that too), but the fact that Simon and Robins relationship was extremely close and multifaceted despite them not fricking, and the fact they weren't fricking meant different things could be done with them and different sides of their characters could be explored. Simon didn't get a female companion he's actually somewhat close to that he doesn't stick his wiener into until Vhala IIRC and she is literally incapable of having sex.
One side is arguing from an in game viewpoint and the other is from the meta viewpoint.
I think it's handled well enough, but yeah, wish Robin just wasn't written that way. Her being a unique presence within the main party just sort of diminishes via that choice and the eventual inclusion of Riala, who largely takes her place as the head researcher.
I don't think either were done poorly, and I'd agree with the latter decision, but both serve to kinda homogenize her, and I think her relationship with Wendis seems to largely just be swept under the rug as something I don't imagine Sierra ever really thought through that far, and ended up just being kind of awkward.

Yeah I wouldn't say the whole sequence of events was handled poorly, its just why did it have to be handled at all. >Her being a unique presence within the main party just sort of diminishes via that choice and the eventual inclusion of Riala, who largely takes her place as the head researcher.
Hilariously she doesn't even end up as the daddy kink girl since another character takes that over.
its hot garbage from a jrpg gameplay perspective. The story is also trash. There is a moron or two shilling this because they self insert as the protaganist thinking they in a relationship with someone other then their hand.
My only problem with the game is that, despite the sheer amount of content, it all revolves around vanilla, even if your'e going for the corrupt routes for the girls that have those. After a while it gets repetitive. Either end the game and move on, or introduce different types of content.
Could just use the calculator to decide everything in advance and skip text til you reach where you were before. Or obsessively plan out everything to try to get the best results, that amused me for a second go-through to current patch.
I like the idea of nation/empire building, with all these individually shallow choices and hundreds of tracked RPGVX variables merging into a coherent feeling of controlling development and shaping society in some way, supported by cutscenes, dialogues, or how events are resolved, of really building a faction, gathering up different partymembers and applying them along their natural strengths to various goals. Wish more rpgs, porn or otherwise, leaned into this.
And the writing and characterization is quite deep, I liked the adopted daughter mage wondering if it was her own personal agency and values or Simon's natural corruption that made her attracted to him; you could really feel the inner turmoil as she psyched herself up to confess in their conversations.
That said, I somehow can't summon the willpower to pick this up again after hitting the end of development road sometime last year; there's just too many variables to track, I remember wanting to do something about multiverse tower defense, reforming orc trade economics and succubus organized religion, some earth goddess I wanted to frick, and maybe powerlevelling succubus-daughter to lead the combat party... all these intersecting objectives make it seem like a chore to get back to. I doubt I'll ever run the .exe ever again. And to be frank, the core JRPG loop is too bland and unsatisfying to make me want to reorient myself on everything else.
It (supposedly) will be finished within a year so just ignore it for a few years then get back into the full game. I haven't played a build in a long time because I knew it's too large and I'd burn myself out so I'm just waiting for the conclusion.
Another coomer game I would shill for the writing would be Divine Dawn.
Still very much WIP but there is obvious effort put into the worldbuilding and the magic system the world runs on. The characters are fun with their own personal issues and drives and don't immediate jump your bones. Well the non-succubi at least.
Apparently by the end of the year is the plan, but I assume that's story/gameplay complete. Does not seem at all realistic to expect CGs for all the scenes that currently don't have them in the next 4 months.
Have you considered stopping being a sexless incel porn addict?
I actually skip the porn to get back to the story for this one.
Yeah you totally watch porn/play porn games for the plot sure...

isn't that Black Souls.
Imagine playing Last Sovereign for the porn, and not to build the face of modern civilization or investigate into its hyper real magical supraverse.

Personally i`m just here to make orckind great again
Galerians
But seriously, who's best girl?
Fheliel, of course
Yarra.

Every major game made by Saint Bomber is great
Angelic Acceptor: Alouette
Embric of Wulfhammer's Castle
A Dragon's reQuest
I haven't played Alouette in a year I'm looking forward to him finishing it soon.
I'm getting filtered by the later fights and it's kinda making me mad. I really enjoy the story and world-building.
Use buffs and debuffs.
Always have a healer.
The one with green hair is the bawd.
I can tell.
All of them are bawds except for Carina, Janine, and Vhala
green hair has autism

For me, It's Riala
Wow, wall of text porn game. Really activates my almonds.
>tfw no one cares for elf cumbawd
is it true that theres like 100000 variables this game keeps track of
yes
Yes and the fandom makes 100 different calculator tools that for each big section that can help you keep track of all these variables.
Estaven did nothing wrong
Literally everyone in this thread would be Estaven and enjoy every second of it
Dude didn't even use the katanas he conquered a country for.

I strongly suspect this game is made by a smelly and slightly overweight deviantart fujoshi
Sierra claims to be a girl so it probably is.

While we are on the subject of coomer RPG games with surprisingly strong writing I would put forth.
Pronant Symphony
Monster Girl Dreams
Monster Girl Dreams is fantastic, only notable complaint I have is how long updates take.
Another coomer game I would shill for the writing would be Divine Dawn.
Still very much WIP but there is obvious effort put into the worldbuilding and the magic system the world runs on. The characters are fun with their own personal issues and drives and don't immediate jump your bones. Well the non-succubi at least.
>MC is named ~~*Simon*~~
>MC's wife was a swinger
>NBR incest
yikes
Probably CrossCode.
What did you find interesting about the story?
>male MC
Ignored
Most of the coomer stuff has female MC, just perfect for trannies and cucklords. Having a decent game with male MC is a godsend.
how close to being finished is this game
Apparently by the end of the year is the plan, but I assume that's story/gameplay complete. Does not seem at all realistic to expect CGs for all the scenes that currently don't have them in the next 4 months.
The game wasn't supposed to have CGs at all so they aren't a very high priority, those will probably be trickling in for years.
