Yup. One of the most underrated masterpieces of the entire 21st century.
Automata has amazing, fun and varied gameplay. Not only that, but it utilizes its interactive nature to deliver the main bulk of its themes and subtext. This alone elevates it into a true art piece.

That definition itself sounds pretentious then.
And fortunately, NA does not suffer of such things. It's plot is pretty straight forward, but clearly the "wider audiences" miss a frickton of things that aren't quite spelled out loud, but are damn obvious.
Not to mention the plot itself works as a mere vehicle for the subtext of the game. The "message". Whether or not you can find it in the game or if it speaks to you is a totally subjective matter though.
B route is fricking amazing. A huge step up from the A part, that understandably is kinda boring and underwhelming.

Nier Automata is one of the most overrated games of all times. I feel people get dazzled by the cool novelty like the forced camera changes turning it into a pseudo 2d game or how the music can seamlessly turn into 8bit, but when you actually compare it to other games or even other platinum games, it just isn't that great. The story is another jap game filled with nihilism and existentialism, combat is below average which is surprising considering Platinum Games made it, shallow characters which the only thing memorable is the coomerbait porn (even her partner is a shota), there is no reason to ever replay the game multiple times which is usually the appeal of character action games.

I played this recently and really don't get the praise (finished 2B story and played a bit of 9S). It really felt like generic anime shit storywise, I guess it wanted me to feel bad for the robots or something? And as for gameplay I just mashed triangle + r1 the whole time, it really doesn't matter how you play since you never run out of heals anyway
