That's fair, and I have that mentality for action games so I'd never buy Nier on switch. That's what my PC is for. I don't care nearly as much about frame rate for turn based games however.
The switch is not fricking comfy in bed. It's thin, flat design is only comfortable in the hands of some industrial machine, not a human's hand. Playing Persona 5 for like 80 hours like that will result in hands shaped like shelf brackets.
HORI Pad, otherwise I agree the base Switch is the least ergonomic design in the history of handhelds, I still haven't touched a Steam Deck but I doubt it's as bad.

Steam deck is genuinely the most ergonomic and comfortable handheld ever made and the button placement - despite looking moronic as frick - is absolutely perfect. This, I've had the switch for years and I can't remember the last time I used handheld mode. It surprises me that some people play in handheld primarily, it just sucks so bad. You must have baby hands or something to think playing the switch on handheld is comfy.
Most Persona 5 fans are notorious for not actually having played the game, and either followed the game due to it's large initial hype or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and thinking Joker looks "cool", and thus got most of their exposure through Youtube playthroughs. The game is probably guaranteed to do well, but most of the players will either never bother turning it on or get filtered as early as Kamoshida's Palace.

I have a friend who literally got filtered by the fact that there's more than one Palace because he thought that Kamoshida's was long enough as it is. I finally finished it using ps remote play on my steam deck and it was great, handheld is really the best and only sensible way to play turn based games.
I don't even have a switch, just PC and PS4. You just have to lower your expectations for a switch and as you noticed yourself they're used to playing games that ran on normal last gen consoles at 1080p60fps at 720p30fps, like doom for example. The hardware or optimization is not magic.
mini direct was pretty gud and I didn't expect anything, too much remakes though. Compare that to the last State of Play which was utter garbage.

It also won't run well. It runs with a 60fps target on every platform. On last gen consoles, it usually stayed in the mid-high 50s, dropping to the 40s in heavier scenes. The switch seems to be targeting 30fps, but I wouldn't be surprised if they either have to lower it to like 360p-540p or worse just eat the drops into the 15fps range while keeping it 720p.

You basically needed, and I do mean needed, a mod for it to have a lot of beta b***h ass basic stuff to work the last time I played it. Also immensely helped with performance. Last time I checked up on the game they were bringing a Nier Auto updated version of the game to the xbox gamepass store on PC while the steam version was supposed to remain unchanged (thus the shitty version) of the game which kicked up a frickton of angry people / angry reviews to the point that they said they'd make changes to the steam version as well.
Just wondering if they ever made those changes or not, I want to replay it again since it's been a long ass time.

The switch is not fricking comfy in bed. It's thin, flat design is only comfortable in the hands of some industrial machine, not a human's hand. Playing Persona 5 for like 80 hours like that will result in hands shaped like shelf brackets.

Steam deck is genuinely the most ergonomic and comfortable handheld ever made and the button placement - despite looking moronic as frick - is absolutely perfect. Most Persona 5 fans are notorious for not actually having played the game, and either followed the game due to it's large initial hype or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and thinking Joker looks "cool", and thus got most of their exposure through Youtube playthroughs. The game is probably guaranteed to do well, but most of the players will either never bother turning it on or get filtered as early as Kamoshida's Palace.

I don't even have a switch, just PC and PS4. You just have to lower your expectations for a switch and as you noticed yourself they're used to playing games that ran on normal last gen consoles at 1080p60fps at 720p30fps, like doom for example. The hardware or optimization is not magic.

The future of PC games should be through an intermediate layer. Emulators running old console versions of games are usually better experiences than trying to run the native game after the publisher refuses to pay for a patch. DirectX was supposed to be the glue but nVidia/S3/ATI/3dfx/PowerVR warring in the 90s set it on a path of partisan infighting and deliberate bending of the API to make it hard for (let's face it, non nVidia) alternatives working.

It also won't run well. It runs with a 60fps target on every platform. On last gen consoles, it usually stayed in the mid-high 50s, dropping to the 40s in heavier scenes. The switch seems to be targeting 30fps, but I wouldn't be surprised if they either have to lower it to like 360p-540p or worse just eat the drops into the 15fps range while keeping it 720p.

You basically needed, and I do mean needed, a mod for it to have a lot of beta b***h ass basic stuff to work the last time I played it. Also immensely helped with performance. Last time I checked up on the game they were bringing a Nier Auto updated version of the game to the xbox gamepass store on PC while the steam version was supposed to remain unchanged (thus the shitty version) of the game which kicked up a frickton of angry people / angry reviews to the point that they said they'd make changes to the steam version as well.
Just wondering if they ever made those changes or not, I want to replay it again since it's been a long ass time.

I play games on my PC all the time though, meanwhile consoles have to "brag" about 60fps when I can get 144fps in FPS games even. I don't want to play games at 20fps/540p.
