-Nate thinks it'll be a slower year for Nintendo Switch 1 releases as Nintendo prepares to release the next hardware. There will still be stuff to announce through Nintendo Directs or however Nintendo plans to release this info.
-He thinks there will be a cross-gen period in 2025 as he doesn't think Luigi's Mansion 2 HD or Paper Mario TTYD Remake will be the last games on the Switch
-No, the Switch 2 won't be at the next Direct. Nintendo would've announced it already
About the Partner Direct stuff: His exact comment/statement was "I'm going into this year's first Direct with the expectation of it being a Partner Direct. I think they will focus on 3rd party stuff more than 1st party". He did NOT definitively say that it IS a partner direct.
-John from DF expects the same thing they did last time with the Switch 2 which is just a random teaser video popping up like they did with the Switch
-Last Summer, Nate reported that there were whispers about something March 2024. As time has gone on, he's of the belief that this is the reveal of the Switch 2. He thinks it's happening in March because of Nintendo meeting with other developers or partners in GDC.
-He thinks Nintendo will go heavy on June's Direct as they'll focus everything on Switch 2 because it'll allow them to give people (news outlets) previews and get a feel for the Switch 2. And with them possibly releasing it in Fall, it'll give Nintendo the opportunity to show off the Switch 2 tech in other future events that'll round out the year like TGS
-Nate thinks if they launch in November, they'll possibly experience sellouts between November and March thanks to the Holiday Rush
-John thinks there was too much smoke around the Switch Pro for it to not have been real. He thinks that they shifted gears due to getting cold feet and not wanting to botch the hardware or launch as they have to get the next Switch's launch right

-John thinks Switch 2 will be much bigger than the Switch, which lines up with the rumors we saw about the screen size and the size implies a big chip. Nate comments on folks who might comment about the PS portal, mentions it not having much in it as it's mostly a screen. He said if Nintendo as an LCD that matches the PS Portal he'll be more than okay with it. John thinks if they chose the 8 inch screen, Nintendo did it to be able to house all the internals.
-John also thinks battery life is a huge concern for Nintendo, he reminds folks that regardless of the demo tech they use, the battery life might not be the same for the retail units so he's curious to see what that battery runtime is. Nate agrees in regards to it being bigger.
-Nate thinks the Switch 2 might just not have the JoyCons and that it'll be more similar to the likes of a ROG Ally. John agrees, says they weren't that big of a success and they were uncomfortable. He (John) mentions that he pretty much exclusively used a Pro Controller even when he was using the Switch portably. Nate mentions experiencing disconnects with his JoyCons as years have gone, even while housed on the Switch itself.
-Nate asks John whether or not he thinks the lack of JoyCons would ruin the excitement of Switch 2, John says if you look into the numbers he thinks that people might've not used that tabletop feature that was shown off in the Switch reveal trailer. He, personally, thinks the wireless Joycon features wasn't used by people as much as Nintendo might've thought.
-However, Nate does mention the success of Nintendo selling JoyCons, he thinks if they gave a controller in the Switch 2 box it'd dissuade people from buying accessories, which could be why we might still see JoyCons 2
Nate says Backwards Compatibility is going to be a feature on the Switch 2. His only fear is how they'll incorporate the eShop considering how terrible it is. His concern is them needing to overhaul the eShop because if they have BC,
I honestly don't even care that much about patches or not, as long as it is natively backwards compatible with both physical cartridges and digital, for all games.
>-Nate thinks the Switch 2 might just not have the JoyCons and that it'll be more similar to the likes of a ROG Ally. John agrees, says they weren't that big of a success and they were uncomfortable. Literally all Nintendo needs to do is sell a regular handheld and then provide a bundle with a dock and pro controller for those that want it. Joycons were gimmicky overdesigned shit as per usual for Nintendo
They need to sell the dock with the console, it'd be both scummy and dumb not to do it
Nevermind I can't read
The success of the Switch was it being both, those who think otherwise should consider consulting a physician, you may be clinically moronic.
>The success of the Switch was it being both, those who think otherwise should consider consulting a physician, you may be clinically moronic.
But it can still be both? Nothing about the joycons are essential to it being a system you can hook up to your tv
Aside from offering a controller to play docked out of the box? You know, since it's a hybrid?
If Switch 2 is $400 and the dock + controller are $150, that's a recipe for disaster
The pack in was the value, having to buy a series of extra accessories to use it's full functionality would effectively kill that advantage.
you need to understand moron gimmicks are nintendo’s thing, hell it’s one of the reasons some people buy consoles
Nah, if they want docked to receive quality support from devs and for it to be treated as a first-class citizen then it needs to be available in the default package they release, if it isn't then it will always be viewed as an "extra" and receive shit support as devs focus on the functionality all owners have for sure.
>Nate thinks the Switch 2 might just not have the JoyCons and that it'll be more similar to the likes of a ROG Ally. John agrees, says they weren't that big of a success and they were uncomfortable. That last part feels so out of touch. There's definitely people who will do that, but not enough to act like it would apply to the average consumer even with the choice.
-Nate thinks there will be a ton of developers that, rather than doing a patch, will want to re-release their games with all the bells and whistles (Nintendo included, he uses Bayonetta 3 as an example) to recuperate the cost of fixing games rather than just dropping patches

no, that was Medea from DQVIII
What was the king thinking? How can he allow his daughter to go outside wearing that?
It's really strange, a princess should be wearing something modest, not flaunt her behind like that for everyone to see
What does it smell like?
Six years of disappointment.
Source: my dirty crusty prolapsed butthole
Here are the specs btw:
8x Cortex X1 cores up to 2.9GHz, 16MB L3 cache
NVIDIA Ampere 12:SM GPU from 785MHz up to 1525Mhz (2.4 to 4.6 TFLOPS)
12GB LPDDR5 6.4Gbps
192-bit hybrid bus up to 153GB/s
8GB HBM2 VRAM 2.4Gbps
1024-bit video bus up to 307GB/s
HDMI 2.1 32G output
DLSS 2.x scaler
TSMC 4N
Does that make it more powerful than a Steam Deck?
Yes.
His claim is completely fake but yes that is a hell of alot more powerful than a Steam Deck except in CPU power, maybe. Too bad that's straight up impossible to fit in a compact form factor. Not to mention the high as frick manufacturing costs.
Completely destroys it, but these specs give it a 15 minute battery life.
Just underclock it like Nintendo always do
Maybe Nintendo learned most people play docked and realized they need something that can be very strong while docked and just underclock it like crazy when portable?
imo it'll be 720 p portable and dock will turn the DLSS on
>HBM2
that's uhhhh... pretty expensive, isn't it?
also isn't Ampere a power hungry architecture? Or was it the Smasnug fabrication process that made them power hungry?
Idk man sounds too good to be true
It was Samsung shitty 8nm process that made it power hungry.
It is pretty much confirmed Switch 2 will be based on the Tegra Orin platform (Ampere plus Cortex A78).
Ampere and Ada Lovelace are almost identical, there are only some minor changes in things like the tensor and ray tracing cores. The power hungry meme comes from Samsung's 8nm (in reality a modified 10nm) being absolutely dogshit compared to TSMC's 7nm, which is why some AMD cards were able to just barely pull ahead of Nvidia in power efficiency. Nvidia has since then moved back to TSMC and shows no signs of working with another Samsung node.
Also, that spec sheet you're quoting is absolute bullshit. HBM2 is extremely expensive and reserved for workstation shit. The only thing that is certain about the T239 is the 8 core Cortex A78C CPU and 12 SM Ampere GPU.
I see... Yeah, I figured that just the HBM2 alone would be enough to push the manufactoring cost way past the, say, $399 price point?
Also, that explains why my undervolted 3060 eats 140w when gaeming, like, whuu? a 4060 only eats 110w breh
I remember seeing a BOM some years ago that had HBM2 at around $8 per GB. Given how fricked the industry is, it's probably way worse than that now.
Why can morons never come up with believable specs
Might not be a moron. It's a long time shill tactic to spread rumors that specs are higher than they will be so when the real specs are announced people are disappointed.

>John thinks there was too much smoke around the Switch Pro for it to not have been real.
LMAO they're STILL coping? The "Switch Pro" was the OLED, everything else about it was bullshit.
does it also come with a BVLL?

These gays really can't get enough attention, lmao
Well I think Nate is a homosexual, there is your leak
its funny how nintendo is just trucking along like nothing ever happened while the rest of the console gaming industry is burning to the ground
>John thinks there was too much smoke around the Switch Pro for it to not have been real.
I love how these stupid homosexuals just can't cut their losses and admit they fed bullshit info to the people, they have to double down about their fanfic
reminder that this brown israelite nate claimed for an entire year that nintendo had a 4K switch in store for late 2022/early 2023 with multiple exclusives from third parties in development and then when it obviously didn't happen he tried to argue it got cancelled and that it was something perfectly natural that happend all the time in the industry
man I hate leakers and the gullible Black folk that worship them
they just can't take the L and move on, reminds me of Christopher Dring saying that Nintendo had no heavy hitters just to then have Mario Wonder be announced and then he proceed to basically call Mario Niche man.
Source he really called Mario niche? that's literally the most popular and normie franchise lmao

what phone hardware was popular 7 years ago? it'll be that
Hoping for good DLSS and frame gen implementation, hate it all you want (I hate it too when it comes to stationary hw) but handhelds need those
Frame gen is shit.
The Switch 2 AI cores are being used for 2 things, either you're going to have an image get upscaled from 75%+ the resolution to get it over the line, say if Nintendo were to go for 4k they would render the game at 1800 x 3200 and upscale it to 4k, or it's going to be used for DLAA, the AI cores are just not powerful or numerous enough to do strong DLSS, and the approach of rendering 75% and upscaling is probably the best approach, it's just a matter of getting games to 1800 on the proposed hardware, which is doable if you don't waste resources and instead of the Switchs 2:1 power boost when docked making it something like 4:1.
>Frame gen is shit
I don't disagree but it really is needed for handhelds, sadly.
I just don't want another console not being able to keep 30fps and no dropping occasionally and only a few frames is still unacceptable.
We should be getting 60fps no matter what yet we are constantly fricked in the ass with sub 30
Framegen from 30fps is complete shit, PS2 can run games at 60fps, if you don't like games running at 30fps yell at developers, Switch 2 has shitloads of power, it's at the point where I expect Xenoblade to be 60fps on Switch 2, probably the one hold out for performance on Nintendo hardware, everything else, well third party devs are already going to be lazy and just port their last gen library to the Switch 2, don't expect them optimize shit.
You just can't criticise nintendo around tendies, can you?
I'm sorry, I don't wanna hurt your feelings, but your beloved toy is technological garbage and was on the very first day it was released. And it's on nintendo, sure devs being lazy doesn't help but they wont magically find more processing power in a 2015 smartphone.
>Switch 2 has shitloads of power
We know nothing about it yet you are already defending nintendos honour. You are sick in the head.
>Framegen from 30fps is complete shit
get with the times and out of your nintendo basement
Seeing boogeymen everywhere, maybe you're the problem moron.
Switch hardware was the most powerful Nintendo could get for a launch that year, but I'm not talking about the original Switch hardware which had clear and known bottlenecks, I'm talking about expect Switch 2 hardware.
I'm basing the power off both leaks and what is posted in this thread, even at the lower end it's a complete powerhouse for a handheld, you literally can't buy a phone that beats it, it's going to dwarf a PS4 and not have the moronic bottlenecks that the PS4 had, significantly better CPU, more Ram available to developers, lighter OS faster internal storage, far more modern GPU games can achieve higher levels of optimization and pull off a lot of rendering tech much faster due to having either better hardware accelleration for that, or something like DLSS that moves upscaling from the CPU to the GPU and does it much faster
Framegen in general is complete shit, and Switch 2 won't even support it.
>and Switch 2 won't even support it
damn you know everything about switch 2 already
We know enough about the hardware to rule it out.
It's up in the air whether it has framegen or not, we know it has DLSS 3.0 but not necessarily 3.5
It's being rumored that it does have 3.5 but without framegen
Not him but you're a fricking moronic homosexual, you're basing this off pure fricking guesswork. The nvidia leak is the closest anyone has had for info on new ninteno hardware and even that could be deprecated already so everyone here may as well be shooting blanks across the entire room and making a mess.
Not really, there's shitloads of statements we can make about the hardware because of what we know outright, what points did I make that are pure speculation that can't be backed up with just logic?
Do you seriously think that the CPU will be slower than what's in the PS4, that makes no sense at all considering the known Orin CPUs
Do you seriously think that there won't be more Ram available for games, at 8GB it will have more available due to Nintendo's ligher OS and some of Nvidia's tech
Do you seriously think that the internal storage won't be faster, why wouldn't it, it's faster on the Switch already.
The Switch GPU is more modern than the one in the PS4, why would the Switch 2 one be older.
We already know what hardware it's using and it has AI cores so it can support DLSS.
It doesn't have the hardware features Nvidia touts to do the framegen so we can rule it out, and that's before you factor in how weak it's AI capabilities will be in the first place, the upper limit for that is kind of shit.
speculation upon speculation, you really expect anyone above room temp iq to read that? why did you even type any of this crap
Frame gen input lag is painful even when you're running a game at 60fps. Talos Principle 2, for example, goes from 60-80fps on my PC, to 120-130 fps with fsr3+frame gen, but the input lag gets so high that it's almost impossible to play (it's a first-person game, though, and input lag is pretty bad in these games).
I don't even want to imagine what it would be like to play a game that's running natively at 30fps with frame gen. It's going to be basically impossible to play, I predict 100-150 ms of input lag, worse than what you get in an fricking N64 game.
why are you talking out of your ass lmao
Because input lag is something important to me, I think people have fricking forgotten what it was like to play on CRTs and have become accustomed to colossal input lags that have only very recently begun to finally be reduced, and when I played Talos Principl2 2 at a supposed "130 fps" and had an input lag similar to 30fps, I lost faith in the ways the industry is going.
Erictroony, you lost and got raped 😉
>fsr3+frame gen
we are talking about nvidias tech which comes with much more and is superior to amds
and no I'm not a amd hater I use ryzen.

Funny fricking image
>John thinks there was too much smoke around the Switch Pro for it to not have been real. He thinks that they shifted gears due to getting cold feet and not wanting to botch the hardware or launch as they have to get the next Switch's launch right
it was due to china shutting down during covid and making it impossible to create new hardware reliably and the switch 1 still selling well
a typical console lasts 5 years
> Partner direct
They're not getting much 3rd party support at this point so I don't believe it
Nintendo expects to sell 15.5 million Switches by March 2025 when they initially only expected 15 million. That would a be record year for a console going into its 8th year on the market. So why the frick do people STILL think we're getting a next gen console this year?
>just wait for your current system sales to completely collapse before releasing your new one bro
this is why you're a low IQ sperg posting in this shithole and not the head of a large entertainment company
No moron its obviously in development and has been for years but unless their sales expectations greatly deviate from what they expected, announcing and releasing the Switch 2 in 2024 would only hurt the Switch in its evergreen years. It would be best to announce it at the end of year for a 2025 release. You know, like how Switch was done?
>No moron its obviously in development and has been for years
a console isn't like a game, you can't sit on it and wait for some downtime to release it, launching production is decided years in advance it's not a matter of looking at your previous system sales and deciding to start producing and stocking the new hardware when there's a dip
but then again I wouldn't expect a gorilla Black person brain like (You) to understand this
i hope they'll make a home console version
nintrando shitch
Hi Eric. Nintendo Won 🙂
Erictroony, you lost and got raped 😉
What makes this even worse is that we know nu-Playstation games cost upwards of $200 million in development alone so most of these barely broke even. I don't know how Sony's gaming division manages to stay afloat
Blackrock money
>First direct of 2024 is a fricking partner direct
lmao this is definitely true, its too on-brand not to be
He's likely right on a lot of this, but
>John thinks there was too much smoke around the Switch Pro for it to not have been real.
Come on now. Just admit it got mixed up with next gen plans and move on.
youve been saying this shit for 3 fricking years now

Holy frick learn what "leaked" means you fricking moron
Would you prefer "feels" like the females you are?
they only use '"thinks" to cover their asses, Nate gets like 85% of things right but he also acts like a childwhenever people call him out on stuff he gets wrong
Switch 2 is going to absolutely mindfrick Ganker, the only console with DLSS, PS4 Pro hardware in a handheld, raytracing, it is fricking over for Snoys
I stopped gaming 3 months ago, I no longer care
There is no way S2 will be as powerful or use the latest tech as people are claiming. Nintendo is not Apple and can't create their own hardware let alone afford shit like 4nm nvidia chips. And the masses don't care for a checklist off someone's wishlist they just want to play games.
>4nm
It's an 8nm binned Tegra T239
No. Nintendo is really the only chance Nvidia has for success with Tegra and Nvidia knows it. Tegra has always been a loser for Nvidia before Nintendo. Nvidia needs some sort of success here if they ever want to be anything more than a GPU company.
Nintendo is in a position to tell Nvidia to frick off and that Nintendo will use an AMD APU like in Steam Deck. If Nintendo does that, there goes Nvidia's only successful Tegra product.
Nintendo has Nvidia by the balls with Tegra for Switch.
Nvidia at this point gives not one shit about the consumer market due to A.I, business and cryptomining giving them LODSOFEMONE. They're only still working with nintendo because they don't want AMD to get all of the console market and portable hardware market.
As the other anon said, Nvidia is a company specializing in AI now. Why do you think everyone is talking about ray tracing now? NVidia is pushing this shit hard, because ray tracing is impossible in real time, unless you use Nvidia's AI-based denoisers, along with Nivida's AI-based fake resolution, along with Nvidia's AI-based fake frames, along with NVidia's AI-based fake reflections, everything running on NVidia focused GPUs.
Switch 2 is a gaming handheld with an APU supplied by Nvidia, maybe the CPU doesn't match an apple one but the GPU will crush it, then there's the actual API, which will crush Apples, and then there's the software which unlike anything made for Apple hardware will be extremely well optimized.
Nvidia completely retooled Tegra for cars/ai which is successful and make far more money per unit sold, Tegra in Switch's key advantage is getting economies of scale to kick in to further improve the profitability of Tegra lines, while also being a major driver for profits itself, Nvidia most likely makes more on GPU sales than they do off of Switch APU sales, surely.
Please name some brands using Tegra? The only one I can find is Tesla. Intel is still pretty dominant in this I think. They also have no economy of scale because they don't have major customers for their chips.
AI and Crypto are working great for Nvidia but they never liked the fact that they only made physical GPUs. They always wanted to make CPUs and other stuff. Finding more uses for their GPUs is great and all but it still leaves them as only a GPU company.
I just remember reading that that part of the business is doing well, I have no idea what brands actually use their chips
>Intel is still pretty dominant in this I think
Their ai accelleration is still behind Nvidia, so whatever I guess.
>They also have no economy of scale because they don't have major customers for their chips
That's the benefit of a Nintendo deal, it gives them economy of scale for those chips.
>AI and Crypto are working great for Nvidia but they never liked the fact that they only made physical GPUs. They always wanted to make CPUs and other stuff. Finding more uses for their GPUs is great and all but it still leaves them as only a GPU company.
You keep coping to support your delusional opinion.
Nvidia doesn't give a single frick about video gayms.
As for now they just have to bend and pick up the money lying on the floor but the second they would have to put in any real resources to make money on gayming they are gone.
>Switch 2 is a gaming handheld with an APU supplied by Nvidia,
>supplied by Nvidia

I'm too broke homie for a new console LOL!!!

That's a nice rumor Anon, Why don't you try backing it up with a source!?
