It only grabbed 7mil in the last quarter which is the holiday quarter too and Nintendo's upcoming software line up isn't exactly impressive.
Unless they do major discounts on hardware it simply won't surpass PS2 and I don't believe we will ever see those discounts. Nutendo is all about full price, I am certain they want to push Switch 2, not have people buying discount OG Switch's.
I don't even think they have 18mil more Switch's or have any intent to manufacture them. When they do the Switch over whatever hardware is left is probably getting a 30% discount and then it is gone.

Reread that post, especially the part where it mentions clearance pricing and that there probably won't be enough stock to top the PS2. Nintendo probably doesn't have that many Switch's and I doubt they'll do a production run since they are desperate to move sales to the Switch 2.

Both my brothers kids have one and they each broke them over time (low quality product) and he bought them new ones. Its a cheap, crummy, plastic disposable toy for 6 year olds that breaks or is mishandled by kids and needs replacement.

The only option that is the most cost effective in the long term is a gaming PC, because it avoids the monthly subscription + piracy, but the majority of people who actually buy games are actually buying games using parents money (except for gacha and gambling games, which I think parents want kids to avoid in general).
And the switch has the cheapest subscription (that it's optional, since there are many nintendo games that don't require online).

Literally all nintendo games are already on pc, in a better state, for free.
This is true for the offline games, but when you want online you can just buy a mig flashcart (but nintendo could probably detect it because the speed from microsd is slow, but for now they probably don't care because the cart is just as expensive as hard modding or buying the lite console).
And I have had switch emulators give visual glitches, crash, shader compilation stutter, etc.

Most of the Nintendo fanbase didn't played those games when they launched on the consoles back then because their were either too poor ( I didn't have a PS1 and only borrowed a PS2) or wasn't born.
So games like Panzer Dragon and Endless Ocean 2 appeals to me.
Also, it's pretty comfy to have a ton of classic games on the go. It's better than a cheap portable emulator, that sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

During the PS2 age is when "indutry consolidation" began with companies merging as well as small companies getting swallowed up by bigger companies. That significantly reduced the number of both developers and publishers. Big companies would actually buy out smaller companies just to gut them of their IPs.
The PS2 still had a lot of smaller studios working on it, it was the PS3 that almost killed the entire japanese industry (it would actually have done it if the PSP and the DS didn't exist)

Physical exclusives are also very cheap, I can easily find them at a 30% discount, I even just bought Luigi's Mansion 3 at a 43% discount. If I recall correctly, the Super Mario Bros Movie also became the highest grossing animated movie in Mexico, so Nintendo has nothing but good word of mouth in this country.
