Correct, it will be a hybrid like the Switch
OP BTFO
nope.
Nintendo can't do much more in the handheld space until tech improvements in battery and storage levels catch up.
>nope.
Yup
low effort bait
>Nintendo can't do much more in the handheld space until tech improvements in battery and storage levels catch up.
If that's the case, they simply won't do a new system. Why would they? Switch is on top, and it still hasn't reached its full potential. Nintendo hasn't even released a model below $199, and historically Nintendo has sold a ton of units at $149, and the Steam Deck has demonstrated Nintendo probably has a little bit of headroom to launch a slightly more expensive model and all they'd have to deliver is docked performance in handheld mode.
It's not the case though, OP is just rolling or dumb. Newer mobile chips don't get better graphics just by using more power, they get them by being more efficient. Whatever chipset they go with for Switch 2 will at a baseline be able to do more than Switch when drawing the same amount of power the Switch does.
What's more the Switch actually has quite the small battery, less than many mobile phones. At 4310MaH while the Deck is a little more double that, so even if they want to give it more battery life for even greater performance there is room to increase the size.
>What's more the Switch actually has quite the small battery
only for the old V1 model and Lite, V2 improved on that with the more energy-efficient chip and OLED even has a stronger battery life for higher screen brightness
When I said Switch had a small battery I meant it's physical size, not how long it lasts.
All Switch models use a 4310MaH with the later ones being more efficient. The Switch successor could use the same or it easily bump it up to 6000-7000MaH for longer life / better performance and still have a lightweight handheld.
But yes, the more efficient chip made the Switch's tolerable batter life good.
you have no idea what ARM is capable of now. Google M1 Pro chip
I can see the next console actually having a large upgrade in graphical fidelity between the handheld and console modes.
No need since there's no handheld mode for Switch 2
upgraded graphics will be provided by dlss if anything
proof?
The "next gen" console nintendo are gonna put out is switch 2 with better components almost ALMOST rivaling the latest iPad in terms of hardware, releasing 2 new games of every major tendie franchise then milking every bit of it by not allowing switch 1 cartridges into it
Mark my fricking words
Sauce or GTFO
Good, they need to make the 3DS 2
>[product] 2
>[product] U
They will make the Wii U 2 instead.
Thank god.
>western gaijin wanting to impose his will on the japcentric market
You’ll be lucky if isn't PURELY a handheld.
Nintendo use to be a poorgay console, but now their games/consoles don't drop in price, and it's essentially just an extension to either phones or PC, making it more of a richgay option than Xbox/Playstation. How are Nintendo going to keep poorgays hooked and stop them from leaving for xbox with cheap multiplats?
>How are Nintendo going to keep poorgays hooked and stop them from leaving for xbox with cheap multiplats?
they're not. autistic type of fanboys are keeping the switch afloat cause they don't really have any competition although valve is trying to compete with nintendo with their steamdeck, but for now it's just a small dent that could explode wide open if nintendo doesn't do something with the "Switch pro" or whatever they're going to be calling it.
If the Steam Deck exists then a more powerful next gen hybrid can exist. Alternatively the graphics enhancing hardware can be in the dock while handheld has bare minimum to run games.
honestly all the next nintendo console needs is to be able to go 60 fps 1080p-1440p with docked mode DLSS, or handheld mode 720p/60fps DLSS at a reasonable price. i'm sure it's doable.
Would hardware in the dock be possible? Granted you'll have to have a locking mechanism to keep the console docked for high graphics mode.
There's a problem currently with the dock being the graphics enhancer. AFAIK PCIe, which is what many graphics cards use, isn't exactly hotswappable. Using thunderbolt for the next Switch may be somewhat of an issue.
$300 Switch 2.0 Pro
$250 Switch 2.0 Standard
$200 Switch 2.0 lite
all of them would use a custom tegra chip with Ampere architecture and DLSS capability
Nintendo skipped the Tegra X2 (Pascal arch) and the Tegra Xavier (Volta arch). Looks like their option is to either use a modified Tegra Orion (Ampere arch) or switch to a custom AMD APU that uses RDNA2/3 with ARM cores
Orin*
The two issues with Nintendo switching over to AMD is it may hamper backwards compatibility and AMD only seems to make laptop and desktop SOCs which may not fit the power/performance envelope that Ninendo may want.
It will be 4K.

Nice bait, bet you didn’t even have a GameCube.
No I didn't
I had NES,genesis,n64,ps2,Wii,xbox360,ps4,switch and a good PC
This is the best route
That only takes in home console sales, Switch is also a handheld.
GB/GBC 118mil
GBA 82mil
NDS 154mil
3DS 76mil
Switch 110mil
Nintendo handhelds don't fail, all the more reason next console will be another handheld.
It's going to be a powered up version of the switch that you can dock in a VR headset(as well as the traditional TV option).
Probably will be named Switch Reality or some shit like that.
wow, what a bold statement, it's almost as if you have a 50% chance to be correct
And that will make me kind of sad as I love the idea of a handheld that can play console tier games.
The duality of man.
I wish, handhelds are fricking terrible and every game is ruined with a tiny screen in mind.
