Is this a dead game at this point? Live is a massive frickup that's three months late at this point, the format is a joke where matches are decided in the first two turns and it seems like the speculators are the only ones propping up the products at this point.
*nine months late
>Is this a dead game at this point?
Not at all, Ganker just isn't the place to talk about it. Other sites, such as the dreaded r*ddit, are much better places to discuss the game.
For you bad art enjoyers out there, here's the newest komiya
>UHHOHH OH MYGOAWD IS THAT SUM WACKY POKEMON THAT LOOK LIKE THEY WERE DRAWN BY A 5 YEAR NEATO ITS GOING STRAIGHT INTO MY BINDER
Shut the frick up, 5ban collector.
5ban is also garbage. Cope.
based dyslexic moron pokemon fan
He spelled 5ban correctly moron.
based dyslexic moron pokemon fan projecting himself onto others
lmao seethe b***h
Seethe over what?
My soulful collection of Komiya, Arita and Yuka Morii cards?
It's safe to assume that people who actually play the TCG are less than 10% of all customers, most of who are kids that just look at the pictures.
And the other majority are “investors” who buy up all the stock at every store so kids can’t even play lol
How bad is the format? I want to believe that Stage 2 exs will save the game
They'll be just like GXs, based until TPC decides to revert back to big basics like tag teams
>Big basics
Expect that for Legendaries, Ultra Beasts, Paradoxes and whatever they end up shilling to death.
Hilariously bad and they are still finding ways to make it worse. The game is so fast, that your initial set-up essentially decides your game. Just look at this fricker.
<- "When played, search for two VMAXes and put them on the bench"
1. Go second, open Vikavolt V, attach Lightning
2. Quick Ball discarding Dark for either Galarian Moltres or Radiant Eternatus
3. Bench Moltres, Direflame Wings for Dark, Energy Switch it onto Vikavolt V
4. Bench Radiant Eternatus, use Climax Gate for 2 Regieleki VMAX
5. Paralyzing Bolt for 110 on T1. We Seismitoad now
Oh christ now, I don't want to remember the cancer of Seismitoad and hypnotoxic laser
Eternatus ability ends your turn you dolt.
You forgot to say it ends your turn when you do that but yeah its still broken
Oh frick, that completely invalidates what I just wrote.
>Is this a dead game at this point?
It's because of the Scarlet & Violet leaks. This always happen whenever a new game is released.
Wait Live never came out? ahahaha oh wow
It's kind of released. Beta in a couple of countries, just proxy if you want it early
>spent 700 dollars on siilver tempest
>excited.jpg for mail day
Lugia is the most ridiculous deck in a format that has been 1 ridiculous deck after another for years.
Games just not worth playing.
What do you pair it with? Sincerely a collector
>Opponent goes first
>I have a Pokemon v I can't evolve turn 1 put down
>Opponent's second turn has them do 240 damage with fully charged pokemon. While each of there turns take 5 minutes.
Somehow extended is more fun than standard with far more deck variety.
>While each of there turns take 5 minutes
This is what really kills the enjoyment for me.
i think the problem is that learning and actually being good at the tcg is pretty hard unless you've been doing it for a really long time/able to understand the meta changes when new sets are released.
for everyone else, its just crazy people trying to bump up the prices of already inflated cards.
sane people play GLC
frick off chimo
andrew mahone is stupid and gay
Did they improve the look of Live yet? Last I saw it it looked dull, boring and soulless compared to ptcgo.
That's more like it.
Post recent pickups/mail
I want. No. I need this.
imagine drinking that sweet succulent milk straight from the teat
Slaughtering Miltanks~
>the format is a joke where matches are decided in the first two turns
Hey at least that's one more turn than Yugioh, yugioh is a fricking disaster of balance where the opponent plays on your turn more than you do, it's a fricking joke.
One thing that got me into pokemon TCG more than yugioh was the prices. a full meta yugioh deck nowadays is 500-700 minimum
>quick effects = unbalanced
based moron
Yes.
I always found the TCG so bland gameplay wise. Half to two thirds of your deck is just stuff that lets you dig deeper into the deck. Lots of searching and shuffling. Just use smaller decks for frick's sake.
This has been the case since Base Set, in fact you could say everything since Base Set is just trying to fix how horridly broken the core concepts of the game are. I've read a fun study about it once somewhere.
I miss search cards whenever I play MtG.
>Half to two thirds of your deck is just stuff that lets you dig deeper into the deck
This is the only thing the game has over other TCG's - it's fun to brrrrrrr through your deck. Almost any other TCG plays much better than PTCG
I used to collect pretty regularly but have fallen off with all the rarity tiers and sets coming out one after another. Part of me wants to get back in with SV, but I don’t know what pull rates look like these days.
The last full set I have is JP Shiny Collection. I managed to snag it before the prices for cards went through the roof.
I want to complete my 1998 Meiji set (the first movie cards) but they are really hard to find ungraded- it seems like most of the more pricey cards get snatched up and graded, then sold for way more money.
I need to know of a cool budget deck to get into it, having no friends who play makes it a bit hard to get into the game
I'm a card game lover and a nearby card shop here has locals on fridays

Isn't it worth waiting until the Scarlet/Violet set gets released?
It won't be out for another couple of months. Not him btw
Since it's a new generation, will it start a new rotation or will the last 3 sets still be usable (is that how it works for tcg?)
I think all of the current standard rotation vara have a regulation mark (a letter) at the bottom. Next rotation will be early next year (date not released yet) and will remove card with D. E & F and anything later will still be standard legal.
What's your favorite porkeyman? I'll write one up for you that won't be any good but at im bored and hate Meta decks.
I don't really need to play a deck that has my favorite pokes, I just want something cheap and viable
I do like sableye so lost box seems appealing but idk if scoop up rotating just kills the deck
If you want to avoid buying expensive cards you are afraid will rotate just wait until rotation.
lost box is hard as frick to play well and get the most out of. Play regis or wait till rotation (which will coincide with SV base set releasing)
I don't need a beginner deck, I'm good at other TCGs and used to play pokemon competitively as a child. Do you think it'll live through scoop up net going out or not tho?
I looked up regis but it's losing like all its energy to rotation
Get the mew deck box. It's supposed to be pretty good.
Scoops to Drapion V
Not OP but I also want to get into it. My fav is Dragonite, always has been.
I haven't played since early sun moon but i will get back into it to play the ceruledge deck
>can only add 75 cards to a deck in Live
I like adding all cards I think I might need in a deck, and then removing the least necessary ones until I have 60 cards remaining.
As someone who hasn't played since WOTC, are there any good resources for learning meta or how to play and shit? I assume it's the same, 6 prize cards and if you get them all or your opp has no pokemon in play you win right
>I assume it's the same, 6 prize cards and if you get them all or your opp has no pokemon in play you win right
Yup. Most stuff are self explanatory one you get playing, mostly first turn rules and such that have changed since WotC.
>are there any good resources for learning meta
https://limitlesstcg.com/decks
>or how to play
Just play on PTCGO until you get the hang of it. One thing to know is that If you go first you can't play Supporters (a powerful subclass of Trainer cards) or attack on your first turn. Going first is still optimal in 99% of cases, though.
I'm gonna try to make a deck that can put this ability to good use.
I just bought a damaged Charizard GX from tcg player that I think is fake. I don't care if it isn't in perfect condition, I just want the official card for the attack that discards 10 cards.
Should I be able to feel the different layers in the front like I can on a none full art V card? This would be the only gx card I'd have (if it is even real) so I don't have anything to compare it to. At work now I'll post pics when I get home.
collector threads come and die
>Is this a dead game at this point?
No. TCC threads are extremely consistent and almost always make it to bump limit. But like all other thread topics on this board, they will take a back seat when leaks are in full swing, especially when the leaks are for a new generation with new mechanics and evolutions and methods being found.
So the answer is - yes, TCC at least has people attempting to revive the threads, but nobody even cares about Competitive / Play / Live enough to make new threads.
if you want to learn how to play i highly suggest downloading the pokemon TCG game online. its GUD and if you want to play it mobile you can download the APK, for it , although the most recent update isnt working its supposed to start working sometime today on mobile
Thanks for posting this, I'd never have known it existed otherwise. I must have the reverse holo
>still buying modern
>matches are decided in the first two turns and it seems like the speculators are the only ones propping up the products at this point.
sounds like yu-gi-oh
>make a top tier design that suspiciously looks like she's Emma's mom, with potential implications about why she's an orphan
>relegate her to a random ass card in the tcg
What did they mean by this?
Emma who?
The girl from the XY postgame
Dude the new Pokemon game is literally just about to come out and 90% of this board is pirates discussing it early. Of course no one's wanting to talk about the card game right now.
I do. Theyre nice threads
The game is extremely alive but /vp/ is very bad at it. Go to locals or play in online tournaments on limitless
Does anyone know much about the releases? A group of friends and I were just going to buy a box for a friend who plays, and they chose the Silver Tempest booster box. None of them play TCG's, but I do play Digimon and MtG and know from just overhearing at the LGS that Pokemon has a rotating set that's legal. Are we buying something for him that's at the end of the rotation, or does each set's cards just stay in for a certain amount of releases?
Silver Tempest is the newest set. Rotation is happening early next year and will get rid of four of the older sets. Usually new sets are legal for about two years after they come out so you're good
Oh it just gets rid of the older ones, that's all good. All I knew about the rotating sets was what a drunk guy out the front of a card store told me one time so I was worried this might be the last of this rotation and everything has to be new next year.
Was thinking about playing the tcg but then I hear about this pokemon tcg live clusterfrick. I'm sitting on a bunch of code cards and want to play. I should just go ahead and redeem and get started, yea?
Just do it. Live isn't bad enough to stop you from enjoying the game if you like it.
no i mean im gonna play on the old client since live isnt officially coming out of beta any time soon. i only wanna play standard so all my shit should just transfer over right?
Yeah the bonus money thing won't be relevant for a long time and in any case you could just buy the 125 code cards you need before you decide to transfer, I don't think they'll literally force you to do it immediately when the day comes.
What’s the best anti-Lugia deck ?
Anything that hits for weakness.
What's the best weakness attacker?
Serperior. Lugia can't OHKO it.
heh
I'm not sure I quite understand, please explain me Bill's effect in details
You take a pen or pencil and you draw two cards of whichever surface you prefer.
Clever.
>No b***hes?
