This moment was the literal peak of MMO's. Nothings ever came close. Storywise, gameplay, hype levels, social engagement, zeitgiest. This was the peak of an entire genre. and it was 12 fricking years ago.
blizzard has the worst writers of any video game company on earth. Warcraft 3s story went full moron way before WoW came out. This whole scene made me cringe myself inside out when i first saw it.
cringe moment 1: purge of Stratholme and badly written forced drama from Uther and Jaina
cringe moment 2: the whole night elves toying with the undead invasion arc
cringe moment 3: no you have freed us all
cringe moment 4: Archimedes who's pretty much a demigod falling for a bunch of wisps
>storywise
true without a doubt, anyone who disagrees is full of shit >gameplay
Disagree. very few will agree with this, try making an argument for this >hype levels
i agree but it can be argued >social engagement >zeitgiest
yea problaly
>Disagree. very few will agree with this, try making an argument for this
I'll maybe concede on this one. It's a toss up between WOTLK/MOP/Legion for gameplay. all had their merits, balance was peak in WOTLK/MOP, legion has the most "fun" class designs and immersive qualities
everyone will have a different answer as to what time had the best gameplay depending on what they value (casual vs hardcore, exploration, raid mechanics, pvp etc) and what the state of their class at the time.
For example, i played hunter only and it was very boring in wotlk compared to other expansions, cause it had neither the auto-shot/spell management from vanilla and nor the focus system that came later. Basically it was at the point where the class was at its dumbest, therefore unrewarding.
I also value the leveling experience and the open world alot more, where vanilla was the peak
Personally MOP or vanilla was my favourite
yea i guess some DK players agree with you. The rest of the world was pretty bad, and the only real raids they released were ulduar and icc, the rest were ultra low effort unmatched in any other expansion
>>gameplay >Disagree. very few will agree with this, try making an argument for this
This probably depends heavily on what class you played in each expansion to be honest. I miss wrath paladin as much as i miss legion mage
>THERE MUST ALWAYS BE A LICH KING >Peak story
Fricking die. WOTLK Shit all over each and every scourge character. It was the nail in the coffin and made TBCs treatment of the lore look tollerable in comparison.
I swear to christ if blizzard undo this in shadowlands or even bring arthas back for anything close to a "redemption" i will build blizzard HQ in minecraft and reenact columbine. in minecraft, i must stress
i wish i could have known what it would become, how things would go.
i would have said my goodbyes then, i would have maybe finally committed suicide since i was borderline atheist at this point in my life.
now it's too late, now i've relearned my real fears, now it's all going bad. i just want it all to end.
A non directed force of undead would eat everything in their path.
A directed undead force lets you focus on the Master's strategy and deal with that Anon, its not that hard
Why didn't Bolvar corral all the scourge into one spot to be plague bombed by foreskin apothecaries or nuked by draenei starships? Why didn't he march them all to blackrock mountain and throw them into the lava? Why didn't he send all the scourge through the dark portal and send them off the edge of outland and into the twisting nether? Why didn't he enter contracts with business partners and offer the scourge as a tireless, highly durable manual labor force, ending the need for peasants and peons to perform backbreaking labor? Why didn't gnomes and goblins create engines powered by scourge trapped in giant hamster wheels?

This, in one moment they completely shat the bed with one of the worst turds they ever shat out.

>Baitmourne, runeblade of Bait'zhul
Name a better moment in any MMO. I'll wait. I'm not even him, and this wasn't even that good in retrospect, but for a genre like this it was S tier
WOTLK ruined arthas/litch king as a character.
Big Jaina Milkers
>Decline
Not with that attitude
BASED
>DEATH IS MY b***h.

The greatest threats in fiction are basically forces of nature
Why didn't Bolvar corral all the scourge into one spot to be plague bombed by foreskin apothecaries or nuked by draenei starships? Why didn't he march them all to blackrock mountain and throw them into the lava? Why didn't he send all the scourge through the dark portal and send them off the edge of outland and into the twisting nether? Why didn't gnomes and goblins create engines powered by scourge trapped in giant hamster wheels?
Why dispose of them when they could be a great tool of defense in the hands of a lich king that is able to maintain full control?
