No one talks about how groundbreaking Postal 2 was. A fully open world first person shooter in 2003 let alone one where every building can be entered and you can do as you please. I can't think of anything comparable made for many more years

This is the only game I ever felt was going too far. This is some demonic shit, if I play this I'll become a criminal
You can play through the entire game without ever causing harm. You can grab the milk, grab the newspaper, and escape the burning library and the Taliban without ever firing a weapon. From what I have read, that's how the game was originally intended to be but game testers found it boring so they added guns and the ability to urinate.
Don't you have to rely heavily on non-lethal attacks to do a no-kill run? It's still remarkable that you can do that, but saying you can play through the whole game "without causing harm" is stretching it a bit.
No, you can complete tasks without any violence.
It's still advisable to urinate on people who act violently towards you.
That's not very pacifist.
Had to double check I was on /vr/ and not /adv/.
I did this a couple years ago. I didn't realize that I had the apocalypse weekend or whatever it's called enabled and had to go back through the entire game only doing the five days in paradise or whatever it is called. Good times.
>4.1%
ain't that super common?
Golden aura says it's special. The number of people that own the game vs achievements.
The game can be beaten without killing a single person. It’s only as sick as you are.
If Postal 2 is too much for you, then don't play the first one. The sequel is downright cartoonish compared to the OG.
go to bed, jack
The best part of Postal 2 is if you try to be a good person, the game will contrive ways to try and drag you into fights anyway.
But even then, you can still say no to the violence.
Not really. At least not in the base game. You can tell that they're provoking you in the expansions though. As was stated earlier in the thread, it's usually in your best interest to just run away from everything (with a few obvious exceptions like the library and parcel center [and maybe the brewery], but those are arguably it [and even those are totally doable]).
You have become the boomer
homosexual
It's objectively the best game ever made.
Way more impressive for its time than GTA 3.
lolno
OG is a vibe
Example?
>Example?
Don't rob the bank, someone else will rob it while you're there
lolyes, homosexual. GTA3 was a giant empty map with nothing in it but uninteractive npcs and cars with basic pathfinding that despawned the moment you turned your back. A boring mess of a tech demo with awful tacked on third person shooting. The sound design was non existent and all of the charm from the 2d games was missing.
>low effort trolling 3 days delayed
You NEED to get off the computer.
i think the only thing 'giant empty' is your head. the open world facilitated vehicle action and the 'uninteractive' NPCs and cars served as elements to incite further chaos and make the game harder as you played.
Which one's the one where you beat the shit out of Gary Oldman?
I wonder what RWS thinks of Russia now since they had such lovey-dovey feelings towards their Russian fan base. It essentially, at the time, was the only region willing to release the game without any strings attached or censorship.
Postal 3 ruined their special relationship.
>From what I have read, that's how the game was originally intended to be
ah yes the sequel to the mass murder simulator that culminates with you opening fire on a preschool was intended to be an errand simulator
There's a reason why the game is so silly in comparison. Duality of man. Even serial killers need to buy groceries.
I think it being an errand sim was a way to have comedic juxtaposition with the violence and politically incorrect humor.
>"Did you hear about the highly controversial game, postal 2?"
>"What exactly do you do in it, what's the goal?"
>"Buy milk, lol"
Effective strategy even today. People will always get hung up on irony because they feel smart by comprehending it.
>Groundbreaking
Was it really? It was just smaller scale GTA with no cars, and the "every building can be entered" was designed by a 12 year old.
It's like Deus Ex, but you were an insane person doing mundane shit in a funny, politically incorrect contemporary setting and could very much kill NPCs.

perfection
Combine Deus Ex and Postal 2 and you end up with something similar to New Vegas
I often end up writing what I wish to achieve when really wasted (twice per week)
Last Saturday night I have wrote PLAY POSTAL 2!!!
That's because it wasn't ground breaking at all anon, it was a janky ass game from 2003 that was only ever talked about because of it's "edgy" (aka tryhard) content. For christ sake Farcry, Doom 3 and Half life 2 all came out less than a year after this turd now go compare them side by side with each other. Postal 2 felt like one of those janky low budget titles that comes out of some eastern european country
Far Cry 1 is way more of a janky ass shit game than Postal 2
You're using both "janky" and "edgy" wrong and I'm not sure which is worse.
Wow, man. You're like, really above it all.
What the frick are you even talking about? Are you seriously calling other people elitist for calling you out on being illiterate?
nta but to suggest that P2 is neither edgy nor janky is the most moronic statement in this thread. stay mad, samehomosexual.
Neither of those things is true.
moron.
Postal 2 is just fun
So Halo and GTA3 were already out. It's really no wonder it wasn't noticed.
>It's really no wonder it wasn't noticed.
because it's a PC game
Has anyone showed up to say that it's not actually open world because it comprised of different maps that transition with loading screens? If not I'll be that guy.
gta3 and vc did that too
I played postal 1 & 2
Anything after that worth playing?
Paradise Lost
no, you've made it. congratulations. now you can sell your gaming pc and get on with your life
