It's honestly pretty fascinating how ER managed to be a great game despite all these things being more or less true. So much about it is kind of shit, but I overall still enjoyed playing it a lot, even though I have no desire to replay it anytime soon.
Beautiful world where winning boss fights that seen impossible and unfair at first become easy once you take your time and do it right. The dopamine hit from finally winning is unreal.
I like that it takes itself pretty seriously too. No 4th wall breaks, no japanese meme humor. Just a solid fantasy narrative in grand shakespearean fashion.
That's the opposite for me I found ER to be good all around but it never really peaked, I mean I'd still give this game a 8/10 but not 0.1 more and that's weird because I totally dig the atmosphere. I think the fact that so many places and bosses being nearly copy pasted make them forgettable. I didnt mind exploring and beating them but in retrospective a LOT of stuff felt less unique.
I would gladly have traded some content for emptiness just to make what was already there more memorable.

Sekiro was a masterclass in how combat should feel. ER had so many bosses that just behaved erratically and unnaturally just to make it difficult.

is there a better option then having AI reading inputs? AI that can read inputs, enemies that have bloated HP/defense/attack power, enemies that can remove buffs (mostly in rpg games), I feel like there's not a ton of things you can do inb4 just make it good
Fromsoft used to design bosses to never stop attacking, but with this formula they hard coded in "resting" periods for the boss so it didn't get overwhelming, also the way they designed bosses was much better with actually designing the moves to be dodged.
By giving every enemy in elden ring sekiro AI they've basically reduced the actual amount of work they have to do playtesting boss and enemy design to near 0

In DS2, healing meant the enemies would run at you to close space. In Elden Ring, healing means the enemy will instantly throw out an attack

Input reading is only a complain among absolute shittters. The open world design is one of the best ever and only Subnautica and BOTW come close. Most of the bosses are great, with the only flaw being that they get recycled in optional areas.

It's a RPG where the player has to manually level up and upgrade weapons. The player chooses where to go and which equipment to use. So the level of challenge purely depends on the choices and skill of the runner.

Demon's Souls is great but it has some obvious low points like the big mantis boss and the big dragon boss. Also new players will probably end up farming for grass after losing all of them in early hard areas like Tower of Latria or the place with the rolling skeletons.

Finishing Else Ring is pretty irrelevant when it comes to reviewing the game. The game quality stays pretty consistent until the end. And some of the best and worst locations are optional, but that's not gonna make a big change in how people rate the game.

It takes 60 hours to complete the first two areas. The problem is that you tried to rush through the game and got tried of it because it's so long. The reality is that some of the best locations are in the late game, such as Miquella's Tree, Farum Azula, Eastern Caelid, all the underground areas, the road to Volcano Manor and the manor itself. They are all excellent levels. Leyndell proper is also good, but at that point you already saw most enemies that are in there.

It's no where near as bad as it was on launch day, but the stutters are 100% still there. I think it's partly an engine limiation, having to render in so much at one time just doesn't gel well with the engine its running on.

I didn't get stuck homosexual, I got to it and realised "what is the fricking point, I've seen everything the game has to offer and It's bad". If I continued playing it would have been the same trash that I had been doing for the last 30 hours.
If they cut the game content in half and got rid of all the coped/pasted and recycled areas it would have improved it tenfold. The only part of the game that I had fun with was Raya Lucaria because it actually had level design and not copied/pasted assets that I had seen 500 times before. It wasn't particularly good level design, but it was still there.

The fire giant is literally one of the last mandatory bosses. After that you get to the Farum Azula which is literally the last mandatory dungeon in the game (it's also one of the best looking areas of the game). You got stuck just before finishing the game like a huge homosexual.

It's like the Kojima effect. Nobody wants to appear stupid and say they don't get it so they just go along with all the plot holes and questionable game mechanics.
Well it's pretty obvious what is going on, miyazaki comes up with a general outline that's too limited in scope so they have to fill the game as the go with lore and since they're so bad at it they end up contradicting other parts of the established lore.
All the crucible and animal people and godskin.. dragonkin... giant shit... etcetera that's all made up on the spot to justify new enemies and areas, which is fine, but they have no idea how to make it work narratively.
The story is engrossing and compelling if you bother to do any exploring or follow any npc quests. Just sounds like you're used to more hand holding in your games
