There is no big bad demon controlling everything, but rather the pope who is a human. I was honestly so glad that 2 didn't amount to... "It was god doing everything for his evil plan". Because "God" saw humanity being fricked up and just gave up on them, letting them do whatever they wanted.
And while the pope is a terrible person, we also see him actively helping people too, in his own way.

As much some have mixed feelings on FFXIV, that one felt most Final Fantasy than XVI did. Its such a damn shame that the boss fights of XVI are like the best part of the game and that includes the Eikon Fights. I wished the rest of the gameplay was more fun and had all the elements that define JRPG genre for a reason, instead of being a fricking boring mess. Why they continue to fail experiment with new mainline Final Fantasy titles, instead of making a good JRPG?

eh it mostly makes sense with Clive's Ifrit ED, the only reason why they didn't bite it in Sanbreque was because Cid was there and he's dead.
It's a terrible fricking set up and I don't know why the reasoning is so fricking thin. It's also really fricking hard to sympathize with all the pain and suffering the destruction of the MC is causing while also going around and the world and trying to help people with their problems. Not to mention that the MC are the most important resources in the realm and no one in power is seemingly worried that it is happening or at all eager to stop it.
When you start thinking about how FF16 goes about telling it's story, the premise it uses for a lot of things is just so goddamn paper thin. Like going around and helping npcs using the FF14 questing system is pretty forced for a while. It makes a bit more sense later, but it's really hard to get into at first.
In FF14, even at the beginning, it makes sense. You're part of a wave of adventurers looking for jobs no matter how small. You're a nobody in a new world that you know little to nothing about and this is your way to work yourself through it. In FF16, you're a former first son of a Duke, groomed since birth to first take the throne and then to be one of its leading voices in the military and government. After years of slavery, you've become vengeance incarnate and a blood-covered killer. Going around doing fetch quests is a really hard pill to swallow early on.
the whole game is about Clive's transformation from the duke's son into the Founder stand-in building a better world for everyone

everyone thinks Clive and Joshua are dead, Jill is at best MIA. there's "rumors" that Cid is responsible for the destruction of the mothercrystal(s) and for all anyone else knows Cid is still Ramuh. Up until they duke it out with Bahamut nobody really has confirmation as to the existence of the other Eikons, at by that point is doesn't matter because every government is currently crumbling or has already crumbled.
I dunno anon, hypothetically if a society was dependent upon an energy source that was literally killing the land by corrupting it's climates than the only ethical move would be to destroy those energy sources.

El Donte's game is better than FFXVI.
After beating 16 there were some glaring issues that they seem to want to make us think is better with out it but clearly just didn't have time or cared to put them in.
-Controlling Jill would of made sense in multiple situations to give us a different perspective and character to use.
-Mini games such as darts or something within the hideout would of made the most sense due to there being a bar and even having that many people without any recreation to blow off steam.
-Expanded the ability to have more eikon powers at once through the game to give a bit more combat freedom
-Crafting is pretty much pointless and gathering all these materials is just literally a waste of time and time in the reward screen
-More interesting points of interest with unique monsters to find or gear
-Gear that changed how eikon's moves worked overall instead of just x power or time bonus
-Different outfits for Clive, there is even a cloth obtaining quest that is pointless
