The one thing I can count on Sakurai doing is deferring to the classics or the first game in the series. And he did a great job of it, the intent is to make Sora feel like you're playing Kingdom Hearts.

Zelda's Up Smash is an extended attack above her while Sora's is a 1-2 strike, it's closer to Inkling's than anything and even that's a reach considering their hitboxes are totally different.

Literally anyone who isn't an anime swordsman. This is very easy criteria to meet but they won't do it. As the other guy mentioned, Doomguy just for example would have been better. I don't even play Doom, he's just got a more unique moveset. I guess it's ultimately not the anime swordsmen per se, it's the fact that they're all clones of Marth. Some people want a character who does more than swing a sword and counter. You could probably have your anime swordsmen and still have unique movesets but, again, this isn't what they do.

This is the correct answer Banjo isn't even good from a gameplay stand point, he's just not fun. No one plays him, not even boomers, I've seen him get played at ONE local in the my entire "career" with this fricking game. He hasn't been relevant in a fricking decade.
