If you played it back then it had the honor of being the first souls clone. Now its just another clone in a sea of other clones. It was slightly fun when Dark Souls I and Demon's Souls were its only competitor.

God, that game was bad
It was okay, above average. I didn't hate it, but combat wasn't as tight as I would have liked. I've played worse Souls-like games.

It is literally one of the worst Souls games. Nose, a fan game made by one guy, feels smoother and more coherent and that's a game slapped together with Unity assets. The DLC alone was one of the worst Soulslike DLCs out there only rivaled by Hellpoint's Blue Sun, but Hellpoint was an actual good game and the DLC just marred it.

Looks neat, a nice little diversion in between Souls game. I don't hate Souls-like, but they have to be good up to a point. Lords of the Fallen appears to be a good decent attempt.
I'm looking forward to it cautiously, I liked the original for what it was though.
If it makes any difference, I played long after launch and got the game very cheap.
The original was horseshit, no reason to think this will be better.
It's been almost ten years since the original released, if they are the same studio and same people. Who knows what the frick they've been up to in that time frame, but no gameplay is a bad sign. There was a lot they can improve upon, but I'm too jaded to remain optimistic.

The publisher is the same but the dev studio is a different one. They are probably reusing the IP more for trademark-sitting reasons because its 10 year trademark renewal is around now and they can get a whole decade of protection from that.

Yeah, that's a shame. I didn't hate Lords of the Fallen, but that's how the business is. NOW I remember. Those devs that created Lords of the Fallen also made The Surge series, which I tried too. Now That game sucked ass; it was so bad I didn't even beat it despite getting to the end of it. Surge 2 released a year later but, I read and heard it sucked even worse than Surge 1, so I didn't even try it. Studio went bankrupt shortly there after.

Smart anon. If you're right, then my expectations for Lords of the Fallen are even lower. If the original studio and people were behind it, I might have some hope because people can improve. However, if it is different people than there is no hope.

kek wtf? The only thing I see people say they liked in the first game over the sequel is the map. Otherwise surge 2 is far better.

The maps are much worse, the interconnected world feels like it connects very poorly, and the weapon/armor balance is really poorly executed but it's an improvement in almost every way over the first game outside of that. The parry system alone makes it far more fun and you dash crazy distances.
Is this supposed to be a sequel, prequel or remake?
First one sucked so I don't know why I'd be excited about the sequel or whatever it is.
Remnant 2 looks exponentially more interesting by virtue of being based on an actually good game alone.
