Just bought noita and i have no idea what I'm doing
>get to the coal mines
>blow myself up like 4 times
>grabbed a fire stone that apparently makes me immune to fire but also lights up everything around me
>plasma cutted myself to death
Any tips?

Not really.
Get spark bolt with trigger on a reasonably fast no shuffle wand and put triple spell chainsaws/digging bolt/whatever on it so each shot does the damage of all those together
Really just spark bolt triggering chainsaw is good on its own.
>get (specific) wand and put (specific) spell on it then (specific) modifier then three of (specific) spell
YEAH SURE I'LL JUST TURN ON DEV TOOLS AND SPAWN THAT FRICKING SHIT EVERY RUN
Not same anon, but that is not that hard to do. Really just play slowly, don't rush, avoid taking damage over everything else and look for HP ups & wands, when you can get stainless armour + repelling cape perks and stack them. Take time in holy mountains to test out spells and figure out how to leave mountains without destroying them, otherwise have fun getting noita'd and post your webms here.
>just play slow
I don't play sonic to go slow and I don't play spastic instadeath sand simulator to go slow either, go frick yourself.
then die
>just play slow and exploit blatant glitches
there's literally not a single exploit or glitch in that post
What glitches? All the blatantly obvious glitches were already patched out. Everything left in is an intended mechanic and not broken enough to prevent you from dying due to stupidity.
avoiding a specific invisible detection box so you can re-use holy mountains may not be a "glitch" but it certainly looks like an exploit at best. If the devs intended you to do it they should make the destruction box for the mountain visible somehow.
you sound like a whiny zoomer.
It's either an exploit or shit game design, take your pick kid.
Anon there are dozens of ways to escape the mountain without breaking it.
Hell pointing a black hole straight down doesn't "break" the wand tinkering part of the mountain even if it makes skeleman mad.
You are absolutely supposed to be able to move forward without losing wand tinkering access even if some methods are sneakier than others.
watch this guy cry about how Polymorph avoids the crumble box too
You could have chosen to complain about something like the stain glitch, curse damage immunity or pheremone and a blank wand and you chose to complain about an intended mechanic.
Sasuga shitposter.
you can do it with any trigger spell. timed works too but not as well. the point is to stack spells in a combo chain. some are obviously better than others but once you autistically learn wand mechanics you can salvage almost any run even if rng is being a c**t.
It's just a basic example. There's a frickton of ways to vary it. There's a bunch of trigger spells, including warp/long-distance cast you could stack a payload on.
Try playing something actually fun
name one
Not him and idk if it's better than Noita which I haven't played yet, but I like Neon Abyss as far as roguelites go
F *clap* I *clap* L *clap* T *clap* E *clap* R *clap* E *clap* D *clap*
He's not dropping the game you insufferable Black person. He's just asking for some pointers.
I think you might want to check whom it was that reply was to. The answer may shock you!
SPBP
noita is reddit meme garbage
Noita is one of the most unique and soulful games made in the last 10 years, you utter transvestite.
That's Hades.
this
dont get why anons pretend its good
It's an okay roguelike, it's just full of sjw shit. The only character who's hot is Nyx, everyone else looked like a troony and half of Olympus are Black folk for no reason.
spbp
games like this are designed to waste as much of your time as possible, almost as bad as mmos
Honestly when I first got the game and read some threads on Ganker spoiling it, I still had no fricking clue what half the posts were referring to because I hadn't seen anything they'd mentioned. I'd recommend just playing like a good few runs just so you understand the rough basics of the game, for now i'd just say try and go down as far as possible and sit in the holy mountains and play around with the wands. Cast delay / recharge speed are 2 primary stats to focus on, that's how fast you shoot and how fast you reload the spells in your wand once they're all cast basically. Shuffle vs non-shuffle, shuffle wands will randomly select a spell in the wand, doesn't matter what order and cast it - this means that some modifiers will not be applied the way you think they will, non-shuffle is self explanatory, just goes from left to right and reloads. Trigger / timer spells will 'absorb' the spell / spells (if it's a double trigger) to the right, and counts as 1 cast. Ie, trigger spark bolt + regular spark bolt will count as '1' spell fired total. Modifiers to the left will apply to the next spell cast. If you put a double / triple / scatter / whatever form of multicast after a modifier (eg, fire trail) it'll cast that modifier to every spell placed after the multicast. The wand building shit is honestly the biggest thing to learn but once you start understanding it you'll make some pretty coom tier wands. But yeah for now I'd say just play a few runs, try and get as deep as possible just so you can see a bunch of shit. I like to get 600~ gold before going down from the mines to first holy mountain, if you use the green looking tablets and throw them at enemies to kill it'll sometimes give double gold drops, useful for first stage. Once I kinda started understanding some basic shit, then I just wiki'd new shit I'd come across. The game has so many mechanics and secrets that the average person would never even know existed unless they used the wiki at some point.
Cont. the game is definitely not for everyone, and it'll likely take you a while before you 'win' a run. If you don't like the idea of the game being more about the journey vs the destination in terms of like learning about the game vs just completing and winning runs then it's probably not for you and that's ok imo. You'll die many bullshit deaths, you'll get a run you think is OP and eat shit to some enemy that you've never seen before that is immune to xyz, or you 'll get teleported randomly by some enemy into a potion that turns you into a sheep and then blown up immediately by a barrel - it happens, it's noita, it's annoying but it's pretty frickin rewarding once you start figuring the game out
Yeah I ran across an enemy that blocked everything I threw at them but it seems fun. i like games where you can end up being a ball of death where you don't even know what's happening like ror or Isaac
I keep reading about building a wand but I always just find wands with spells implemented and no unassigned spells whatsoever
You can edit wands in the Holy Mountain zones. (I use a mod on the Steam workshop that lets you edit wands anywhere, but this is because I am gay)
Black person you can press ENTER, makes it easier on the eyes to read, not saying you should go full
upboat
but do me a favor. Please
This is how you get people to call you a redditor here. Yes it goes both ways you stupid redditor.
>not wanting to read a wall of text = reddit
ur gay
There's a reason you are taught how to use dots in your sentences in school, no it doesn't mean every new line is a new paragraph like a redditor would that's also moronic but you should try to avoid typing like im doing right now because it is literally harder to read for no good reason just learn how to write Black person it isn't that hard
I wrote that up at like 2am and it was just kind of a stream of consciousness and agree it's kinda frickin ass to read
Lol homie just play the game, why you're asking homosexuals for tips. Especially since you can just google it.
ive played a few hours and thats still how I play. I get some good shit, feel powerful and confident, then find a way to murder myself and turn the game off.
this game is really bad
Your tastes are really bad. This is the only good game to release in the past decade, save for maybe cuphead.
what about dmc5
keep experimenting with wands! wand knowledge is how you get gud at this game. as the anon above said, spark bolt with trigger (or anything with trigger) can be amazing, because it casts a puny little spark bolt... and then whatever spell or spells are next in the wand wherever it hits (if it's a no-shuffle wand). Try, like, a sparkbolt with trigger->triple spell->and then a few plasma cutters or something. instead death for almost whatever you shoot.
gitgud
be patient
get chainsaws
understand that wands and spells (generally) get better the deeper you go so you dont actually need to fullclear every level
>Oh no the game about wizards requires obtaining knowledge and wisdom
This is why we cant have nice things
>Just bought it
Leave Ganker. Don't read spoilers. Don't watch videos. Not until you've beaten the game a few times on your own.
Then you can see what you missed
>Not until you've beaten the game a few times
lel. we won't see OP until 2025.
I think the difficulty is overstated. At least just going down. I won my first time in about 30 runs going in blind
you can luck into a clear just by getting concentrated spells and not knowing you're suddenly killing everything with 1 shot
don't blow yourself up
don't use spells that can hurt you (because they will hurt you)
literally just get lucky
the game is just a slot machine and when you get those 3 cherries your dopamine goes nuts.
Your second wand, the one with bombs and such, is secretly a machinegun. Once you get to the first temple, you can change the wand spells there.
Even a small quantity of water can be used to turn green poison puddles into water.
Water bottle can be refilled by firing it when it's underwater.
The overarching theme of this game is acquiring knowledge. Knowledge of how enemies work, how different spells interact with each other, the landscape of the world around you and the secrets they hold. Very little changes from run to run, the way you grow in power is not from incremental upgrades that persist after death, but from using the knowledge you acquire to excel.
I want that megumin mod
Talking about mods, should I just play vanilla? Or are there mods that objectively make the game better
I'm usually a vanilla pureist but Noita mods can help tweak the game to be less difficult or randomly bs like getting a treasure chest in water and 'oops its the electric stone instantly killing you'
Just show some restraint, Some mods fricking break the shit out of the game.
I prefer to play vanilla, but there are people who think the game is too unfair or random and opt to install mods that even the playing field, like the mod that lets you edit wands anywhere in the game instead of just the holy mountains. Download whatever mods you wouldn't lose sleep over using
I'm a filthy casual so I play with a minimap mod and a LC+AP recipe shower. As for tips:
1) Patience, patience, patience. Blow everything up that can be blown up, so that it doesn't blow up under you, always let your hover recharge, always have a way out.
2)Always have a bottle of water ready. Sprinkle water into toxic sludge to get more water
3)Wands are leveled based on difficulty of the area. If you manage to clean the Fungal caves at the left of the Coal Mines, you can get some really good stuff very early.
4)Hiisi healers in the Base, in the Jungle and in the Vault (levels 4-6) shoot bolts that can heal you. Wash them in Pheromone or get in between two injured medics to get infinite heals
5)Generated Wands usually kill the caster. If you see a wand with an interesting spell, grab it to disassemble it in the Holy Mountain - don't use it.
Wand crafting:
1)The wand looks at the spells in "blocks" and casts as many "blocks" as is its spells/cast. Usually, a block is one spell, but multicast, trigger or cast pattern merge several spells into one block.
2)Cast delay is the time in-between blocks, recharge time is the time after all blocks are fired. The lower they both are, the better - best case, your wand fires every frame.
3)Modifiers apply to the block. If a cast time penalty is applied past a trigger (or timer), it doesn't influence the wand at all. Spam +mana modifiers into your bolt trigger payloads, you get mana without the penalty.
4)Chainsaws reduce cast delay of their block to 0. They make an essential part of any machinegun build.
Once you are strong enough, don't hesitate to dig through Holy mountain - all end-game stuff like cross-map teleport, infinite healing, (almost) infinite gold or (almost) infinite health is to the sides of the main route. To the left of the first level (Mines) is an end-game laboratory with infinite spells - get there to crack the game open. This game is bullshit, but still quite fun.
play some vanila first, mayby get a win before getting mods
there are some nice skins for the game, personally i switch between Cirno and chubby noita on occasion
Playing with any mod will disable achievements, but that's hardly an issue. Nothing wrong with using purely cosmetic mods. I recommend this one:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2879330683
Playing with any mods at all will disable some game features.
Even if those mods are only cosmetic.
Whether that's worth it to you or not is up to the individual.
Personally I actually like Player ghosts ruining my day so I'd rather keep them around.
you can get around that.
play with the wand tinkering mod until you understand wand building better, then turn it off. or keep it on for a more casual experience im not your dad
There are many mods to make things more forgiving, ranging from autosave at each holy mountain, to starting with a specific perk (I used extra life or saving grace to give me more chances if I frick up), to minor ones like gold nuggets never disappearing.
oh but just ignore all the coolest spells not being unlocked and actually being like incremental upgrades
They weren't in my time, before the 1.0 release. But I don't think it's a bad thing to have rewards in the game to recognize those who have made great strides in their pursuit of knowledge and the study of alchemy
you're not studying alchemy dumbass, you're doing the equivalent interacting with an obfuscated rubic's cube
that's all it is
there's no substance
holy frick quit the pretentious crap
if you want to study alchemy then start fricking reading
EMERALD TABLET - VOLUME VII
>"Among those who devote themselves to the transmutation of metals, however, there can be no such thing as mediocrity of attainment. A person who studies this Art, must have either everything or nothing. An Alchemist who knows only half their craft, reaps nothing but disappointment and waste of time and money; Moreover, they lay themselves open to the mockery of those who despise our Art. Those, indeed, who succeed in reaching the goal of the Magistery, have not only infinite riches, but the means of continued life and health. Hence it is the most popular of all pursuits."
Are you mediocre, boy?
>needing anything but spark, bouncing, and shotgun bolts
Noita is the GOAT for me.
Recommend something similar.
I don't think there's another game similar to Noita that's on the same level as it, but if you want other boundary-breaking games made by Finnish people I would have to recommend Baba Is You (made by Hempuli, a major developer for Noita) and Cruelty Squad. Both of them go much deeper than they appear on the surface, but like Noita those experiences are only attainable by those who are worthy. Though I would understand if Cruelty Squad's visual style is too physically offensive for you
here's a fun fact: you can get 100% enemy progress (including the Steam achievement) even if you're missing 1 enemy like me, because the game counts the turrets in the Hiisi base twice (one for left turret, and again for right turret)
the enemy I'm missing, by the way, is moronicly rare and has never shown up once in 500 hours of play. I highly reccomend not looking it up like I did, it's worth shitting your pants in case it actually shows up for you
oh the mimic heart? yeah I haven't seen one either (350 hours)
It's been found out semi-recently that the rng for treasure chest rolls are fricked for most chests. Pacifist chests are one of the spawned chests that don't have fricked rng. So if you want to see a heart mimic, do pacifist runs and the chests have a .11% chance to spawn a heart mimic. Most other treasure chests have a 0% chance.
You could also just use magic numbers to set a seed if you're desperate. It's kind of cheesing it, but heart mimics are just too elusive
>love the game
>the content that isnt related to the main quest is autistic secret shit
It was a lot of fun when the game was new and people were here sharing knowledge to put together secrets and draw a map of the game world, but there is a lot to uncover so I imagine that someone picking it up now might feel lost or overwhelmed
After 40 hours and 112 runs I finally beat kolmi last night
i'm a frickin moron but I did it
pretty sure it took me 100 runs to get a win too. good job, anon
stop plaguing this board with your apple filename, normal.
stop plaguing the board with attention prostitutes, simplord.
why would I post from my computer when I could play noita on my computer and post from my phone in holy mountains
I do wish I could name pics on my phone though, idk if there's a way to do that. I just use whatever I can get cheap from my carrier whenever my old one dies, I only use it to post here and get work calls/texts
why connoisseur of wands is a crazy b***h ass boss on steroids?
when I did my sun quest run, I had so much health and protection perks that the only way I found to get myself killed to finish the run was finding a Connoisseur and having him polymorph me
apparently Hempuli (one of the devs) mentioned he's considering contacting the other devs to work on a bugfix patch to the game
that'd be good, but it's also kinda grim that it proves they have completely stopped working on the game at this point
I was always under the impression that Noita was Petri's game, so I wouldn't take Hempuli suggesting bugfixes to mean that it's complete
They HAVE stopped working in the game, it is "finished".
>unfinished secrets :^)
typical finns.

God I love Noita.
>water gets fungal shifted to void liquid
>game crashes
>had a good run going
>took a gamble and lost
It's over.
you know you can shed perks, right?
Not him, but yes. However, doing that is not easy at all, for several reasons.
Finding a bag is really the hardest part. Although, igniting vapors makes pouring booze super hard yet not impossible
I did it by getting the 2 liquids and then spamming chaotic transmutation on a puddle of water for the silver
how many fkn parallel worlds was this
like 7 or 8, you get shitloads of perks quick when you have a few extra perk slots and like 3~4 perk lottos.
I had like 6x more perks when I did the Sun quest and broke the reroll machines.
your reddit wand against my chad wand: who wins?
>Bubble burst
>Triplicate Bolt
>Chad
Come back once you've got a deadly enemy tracking mist wand or something.
Projectile-cursed spark bolt trigger with about 400 plasma beams on the end for absolute buttfrickery. Ultimate in "more gun" technology.
Heterosexual white male here to tell you that if you're not using electric spells then you're a ninny.
bullying the high alchemist is the most fun thing to do in this game
>alt ctrl delete
>end noita.exe process
>time reverses
you have much to learn young noita.
>cheating
Why even play at this point?
Because it is fun to play the game without wasting time on permadeath like an idiot.
You wouldn't understand.
but is it really cheating? im just rping as a time wizard.
tedium isn't fun and forcing yourself through it isn't smart
woah my run started with a skateboard. haven't seen this motherfricker in forever
>Spark with trigger + high damage on no shuffle wand
>multispell + chainsaws on no shuffle wand for no recharge time
>luminous drill + ping pong spell on low recharge wand for beam of death
>Plasma cutter for careful digging if you can't find digging bolt or luminous drill
>heavy shot + acceleration + bouncing burst for high damage output. Throw on a trigger bolt and homing for easy mode
HP up is important
You can use heart wizards + HP up to get thousands of max HP in one go, just let the wizard hit you a bunch of times, to repeatedly temporarily halve your max HP then grab the HP up and wait for the timer to end on the halving for exponential HP increase. Use ambrosia for zero risk
>can't find plasma cutter, plasma beam, luminous drill, digging bolt, or black hole
>am already at the labratory
fug.
I know that feel bruh. Go to the Tower if you find nothing in the temple of the art and start from the top again.
>fungal shift while holding acid
>you hear the words "blood" echoing
oh no
prankd
totally deserved
i've got like 90 hours and still haven't gotten past the jungle
i love the game despite this though
>invisible ukko in the coal mine instantly ending my run
>invisible ukko
even the gods cant help you with that bullshit
if you think it might be dangerous, it probably is
water is good
learn something every run
Frick polymorph mages!
WHY
GET OUT
i got poli'd in like 6th pararel world and died, then next run was able to break into para worlds as well and crashed in like 3rd one bricking the save
ill never do the sun quest, will I?
>Plasma cutter in first shop
do i break out?
>Any tips?
stack as many sparkbolts into one shot as you can
easy wand for 2-3 floors
I really like how levitating trail disables your own shield for no fricking reason
1st level is just for grinding gold, everything actually good can be found later.
Current run is going well. Gonna unlock Destruction spell then go for NG+++ pillar
something immensely fricked up just happened below me and locked my game up for like 30 seconds while i was editing wands
i dont want to go check what it was
Yeah that sounds like Noita. So what's the issue?
It's a shit game with no effort put into it. You can't play the game like a normal game, you're not just reaching the next floor and going through it like a video game. It's not made to be played like that, the entire ''game'' is a front to bug abuse autism.
Instead of going down you are supposed to reroll runs until you find a good digging wand, then you need to dig through the side of the map to infinite randomly generated maps that all look the same. You're supposed to abuse the wand making mechanics to find unintended bugs where the wand will kill everything on the screen due to some moronic interaction in the code. You are supposed to get polymorph and spend an hour flying up in the sky until you find the ''epic'' easter eggs and solve the heckin' epic ARG autism.
Filtered.
>Noita in one image
>1 hits 99% of things in hiisi base
damn
this would be a better game if the entire first two biomes were just fricking deleted
>they still haven't cracked the eye glyphs
lol, lmao even
I wish someone could make other games in this engine. Really feels like it has more potential.
Nolla team made both the Falling Everything Engine and Noita. So any other use out of the engine is such a low probability, it's effectively 0%.
Git Gud enough that you can consistently reach Hiisi base every run. This should take <30 runs probably closer to 15.
Once you are this level of proficient explore the left side of the coal pit. You're going to die a lot but the wands in that zone will get you geared up to blow past hiisi. The two main farming zones are coal pit and jungle. Take your time really thoroughly exploring those zones.
A tip for jungle is that almost everything in the jungle dies to being frozen and then shattered by a melee attack.
i've done way more than 30 runs and it's really rare for me to make it that far because i keep dying to bs
Then continue to git gud. This isn't about wand crafting or spell rng, it is pure player skill to adapt to and identify danger and how to play around it. Bs still happens of course but you should be able to mitigate 90% of it at least. General tips apply like blow up every single explosive you find and learning the basics of spell wrapping never hurts. You don't need to know everything about wandcrafting but a bit of knowledge just makes the game more fun. It's a hard game and 100 runs is the aveage for a first clear in a game that normies largely don't even know exists.
>another person spewing bullshit figures about how skilled you should be after X runs
Stop this. Every layer has its own shit to learn. Until you can do them in your sleep, most runs end somewhere in the mines.
finally, god
and the intended way too
what the frick do i do with this now
just use it, bro 🙂
oops
you should throw fire at oil pits. trust me :^)
first time seeing this, what is it?
Meditation cube. Take a nap on top of it.
stand on top of it and think about all the weird fricked up porn you've jerked off to in the past
and don't move a muscle
the more regret, the better the RNG
memes aside that's a nice piece of art honestly
Read it
you posted the wrong cypher you double Black person
Works on my machine
what does it mean
It's pretty obvious when you read it.
Someone from the dev team was probably drunk as hell and wrote the easter egg.
I think you have to stay on top of it for a long while for a portal to open.
>always cast nuke orbit
>0.07 second cast delay
>full of bouncing bursts
Mere explosion immunity wasn't enough.
>ghost spawns at the start of the game near the opening with a super wand
Teleport wand ghosts are extremely fun as well. good luck trying to exorcise that Black person before it repeatedly teleports behind you and kicks you to death.
>ghost spawns with teleport infinite heal wand but it also has chainsaws attached
I just wanted the heart...
Overextending as frick
not him, but please explain how
it just looks like he saw something he wanted and is going for it, there's no more caution he could've applied, it's not like he can fire in the direction he's moving
Frick swappers.
Nvm, that was a mirror mage. Frick them too, though.
No way. Mirror mages are one of the few reliable sources of healing in the game.
If you have a healing bolt you can shoot them once and they'll blast you with healing until they get hit with something else.
No greek letters required.
well this turned out better than expected
Time to get some rocks/ducks and go to town.
Playing without spoilers is fricking rough lads. Ate a bunch of mushrooms and all water everywhere got replaced with diamonds.
Shit, really good wand for the mines.
>always cast matter eater
I hope you have some chainsaws to replace those death crosses
Yep, just got edit wands everywhere too. Looking like a blessed run.
Is Omega sawblade on trigger with Nolla completely safe or is there a catch? So far it hasn't been misbehaving though I did lost 200 hp chunk out of nowhere maybe because of it maybe not.
Would it help kill leviathan and actually count in my progress?
>is omega sawblade safe to use on-
no.
Nolla though... It seems safe..
now, giga sawblade can be fooled into boomeranging at the trigger's point of origon, but the bounces will still home in you.
Bah. Why use giga when I have omega. Giga doesn't seem like a boss killer
If you're going to use nolla'd sawblades, Giga is actually better because it does more damage in a single hit and costs much less to fire. Omega's party trick is doing several dozen hits a second, once you take that away then you're left with a fairly unimpressive single shot.
I kneel. Giga is double the damage. It doesn't work with nolla like that though, seems like aiming arc is what I need for it
according to wiki anyway. It says nothing about nolla'd giga, only omega. Well I'll see when I find it
This. Giga sawblade actually does more damage to bosses like the master of masters as well for some reason. It's in that test video where they find out that you can melt him with acid
What test video? I only know of that furyfurged how to kill easily one
Giga is pretty based
a classic
The paniced teleports get me every time
Props for him trying to manage it and survive. I would have just frozen and took the L
Omega sawblade with copy trail.. how horrifying
>burned through two 1-ups in alnost as many seconds
it still exists for 1 frame and you will get hit if you're inside that 1 frame
Nolla makes Omega Sawblade completely safe. Saws can't hurt the player at the moment they're cast so if they cease to exist before that moment is over you won't die.
However be careful using them against enemies that can copy your spells. Copies don't carry modifiers so you will very definitely have a bad time.
To be honest Nolla Omega Sawblade is better as a digging tool than as an attack. The damage isn't that good for it's cost.
I actually thought to try to get a copy mage to copy it to see who it homes on. I got too much shit on the trigger beside the omega saw so I gave up before he succeeded. Probably the smart choice.
True, the damage is meh. Like an extra 200 some times. Could easily top that with safe spells
Okay, can confirm a copy mage will copy and omega sawblade and it will home in on him. Pretty funny
now that I have the crown on my character, I feel like an even bigger moron when I die to something stupid
specially at how often it happens
the top wand has always cast anti gravity or something and now everything within screen range dies at the cost of me getting 5 fps
>finding a bunch of good spells in the first fungal area
>already collapsed the holy mountain though so can't bring all of them with me
This is suffering.
I don't mind doing the 5th wand glitch in my runs to sneak a 5th into a portal. (the one that disables using your wands, not the super method that lets you carry unlimited stuff with no downside)
the 5th wand glitch should be implemented into the game somehow, that shit is great
and I agree with you, it's nice that it limits your wand usage while you're doing it
yea, it's a perfect Noita mechanic. greed with a heavy downside
can giga black hole kill the high alchemist?
I shot one at Squidward as a test and my game went to 1 FPS for like a solid 3 minutes as it tried to compute the bullshit it just encountered.
I'm sure High Alchmist is no match for it as well, especially since it causes Earthquake terrain damage and will drop rocks on him.
Oh hey, I remembered I took a gif of it. Looks less impressive when the game can render all the frames without the slowdown.
"can" and "should be used to" are very different things
if youre asking if its gonna oneshot him probably not
You'll git gud eventually.
Even sub-par runs can become okay runs with nerves of steel and a truckload of patience.
Does this game have a hunger or thirst meter? I bought it a year ago but this answer will determine whether I actually play it
the hunger mechanic only exists as a safety valve against people doing moronic shit like drinking an entire lake over the course of hours to get to the bottom without perks.
fug
Yes, but also no.
You don't get hungry or thirsty, but there is a limit to how much you can shove down your gullet before you explode.
So you can't just drink lakes to get them out of the way.
There also is a perk that makes you get hungry in exchange for bonus damage, but you can just not take it if you don't want to deal with a timer.
Nope. There is an optional perk for it if you really want.
You know what it does have? Cooking. You can fry some corpses for a buff, not healing though
Does Noita have a deep story to it? I just finished a marathon of JRPG games and I’m looking for something a little light on lore
No English text at all outside of the menus. You're some mage thing that wakes up goes places and kills everything
Ah there's the tablets but they contain nothing of relevance to the gameplay... probably
no. it has a base lore to the world and bits of literature you can find, but nothing much beyond that
>Any tips?
Play the game. This is the best way to learn.
second best. the best is the wiki.
the wiki doesn't teach you how to play, it just points you at the best directions. it's the difference between knowing how to fish, and reading a catalog that shows you where the best fishes are
The best way to learn is reading the wiki
The best way to learn was sharing knowledge with a council of your peers. The wiki is for people who missed out
Third best way. The second is reading the wiki and the first is studying 16th century hermetic alchemy tomes
Just keep experimenting until you understand (mostly) what everything does. Noita is brutal and unforgiving but mostly fair.
>do something simple
>caveman brain feels massive
I always hate getting Zeta from the alchemist, takes too much setup to work
I personally just don't even bother with zeta.
Zeta is nice if you find it before the alchemist but it is inferior to every other one
Zeta is cheap has no cast delay increase unlike every other greek letter.
It has a purpose even if it's very restrictive.
Of course the real best thing the alchemist can drop is wand refresh. That gives infinite spells and also reduces delay if you cast it in the same spell block as a consumable spells.
I like how it's been discovered that you can always get a refresh with minimum effort with just a reforged tablet
Oh? This is news to me. How does that work?
Thanks. That's really good to know.
the underwater container you teleport to using the reforged tablet is supposed to spawn a wand refresh, but the devs mistyped the coordinate so instead it spawns further east. just dig left a bit and you'll find it
The shack on the lake places one way off to the right in a wall. It looks like it's a bug and was probably supposed to put it in the container with everything else.
Ever notice how these things fly like Gundams? They're underrated. Really cool enemy
Really bullshit enemy more like it.
They're resistant to fricking everything.
Every other robot you can meet before them is soft to explosion damage, but not these frickers, they're completely immune.
They're nothing compared to the shit in the power plant. These are just a test for you to see if you're still a shitter or nah
>implying you arent a demi god by the time you get to pp
>going to powerplant without weakening curse
That's basically suicide. At least you never have to fight any of the floating invincible tanks on the main path short of poly.
It may not be late game turbo shenanigans. But I still like how bullshit this is
You fricked up the second you were floating above lava.
I was aiming for the platform an inch in front of me
You also had an unexplored shaft above your head. Unexplored areas below you are safe to float above, not so much the reverse.
just made some gunpowder in my stomach
i did not survive
eeeeeeeuugh why did I take that leggy mutation perk I hate it so much
I got that perk, logged out, installed the mod that lets you remove perks for free, and then tossed it in some lava lel
Now you know.
Worst part is how it's even shittier than the spider legs, because you have to hold up all the fricking time
Don't feel like mods. Gonna get some more spider shit for the completion then use the altar. Never actually used the altar before
>drop a single drop of mana into the great lake
>insta kill lake boss
lmao
wait what?
its less simple but mana converts water to mana
and mana isnt water, so the fish...
I didnt realize it needed water to live lol
honestly they might of patched that out by now, and turning the lake into mana is fps suicide
but iron stomach plus turning the lake into mana means you can rack up something like a trillion billion seconds of mana boost, lel.
how long would that take
Add Eat your Veggies for instant godliness.
concentrated mana doesn't add satiation with eat your vegetables.
I don't recommend this, it takes forever.
You just have to drink the lake before you get eat your vegetables.
>drop brimstone into the lake
>wait an eternity
>laugh at dead fish
Such is life for a wizard.
What is it with Noita bringing out our inner psycho?
>tfw been putting the sun quest off for a year
I gotta do it at some point bros but I just don't wanna
the sun quest fricking sucks. Its pure tedium but if you doze off you die instantly
so I'm interested in doing a full pacifist, but apparently there's no way to deal with Kolmi passively. is the only way to finish it blackholing to the work?
What if you feed Kolmi to the sun?
Blackholing your way to the work is a solution, but you'll need something to deal with all the lava or else you'll never make it.
I've seen someone do it with long distance cast teleport bolts and the freeze field perk. Kolmi will dig out the walls around the work if you're patient enough and it doesn't cost much in terms of HP since the lava can only hurt you for a little bit each time you teleport. Sadly you can't just go back up to the mountain alter. It's either the hard way or nothing.
Unfortunately even if kolmi's death isn't your fault it still counts against pacifist conduct so you'll need to keep him alive.
Feels so good to get the gods are afraid perk for the first time
not perk I mean message/achievement
I got the gods are impressed just now
don't know what i did
Infinite lifetime spell
That one is pretty good too
I just put chainspell and bounce on healing bolt
Yeah they're fricky. Try finding drilling shot so it doesn't die if hit wall, boomerang so it always homes in back on you and piercing so it does some sick heals.
https://noita.wiki.gg/wiki/Guide_To_Infinite_Lifetime_Spells
Really fricky actually. You need exactly -1 lifetime for infinite spell, how did you reach -1 lifetime by adding two lifetime increasing spells.
Chainspell reduces lifetime. The bounce spell I don't think affects the cast lifetime at all even if the perk does.
What's weird is that one chainspell was enough. Usually you need two and good RNG to get -1 lifetime.
>"you hear the word BLOOD echoing"
>"flask of blood" has turned into "flask of toxic rock (transformed)"
I really need to stop doing this first thing every run.
Why on earth are you shifting blood of all things?
Shifting anything that enemies or you bleed is asking for it.
At least in your case it's not so bad if you get one of the blood altering perks.
I didn't say I was HOLDING the flask of blood. it's a much higher chance that the flask you're holding gets turned, but it's not gauranteed. I was TRYING to get the poly turned, but it selected blood for some reason.
on the other hand, the VERY first wand in the very entrance of the mines was an energy sphere with timer, so I've got that going for me.
this is the third fricking run in a row where fungus gets shifted into something else wtf
You can always try eating glue instead.
this game is a lot like dwarf fortress. as soon as you figure it out, it stops being as much fun.
don't beat your head into a wall over it, and you'll finally figure it out around the 500 hour mark.
what the frick i'm literally going senile
i meant factorio
I never had any fun with it but I feel like once I get good enough to actually experiment with the spells I want I might.
Bought it, played it 2x then stopped. I fell for Ganker shilling. It's not a good purchase tbh
whats the mod to browse all the spells and just give myself whatever i want so i can experiment
Spell lab.
It's a little out of date, but not enough to matter.
that escalated quickly
The lower astral realm of blindness and squelching of tentacles
spell lab. also, cheatGUI if you also want perks, flasks, and a few other options to frick around with.
so, I murdered squidward with the top wand, and got the next two wands from it.
>9999 worms
wtf
>9999 worms
wait, what?
well, other than the cheating going on, I used a similar setup and got "the gods are afraid". I assume it has to do with the multiplier applying to the burst's acceleration.
Omega black hole looks neat with color trails.
best perk, go
Glass cannon, always.
All seeing eye.
Showing the whole screen all of the time trivializes most encounters and also helpfully reveals where all the hearts that aren't inside walls are hiding.
It's the god perk to end all god perks. Especially once you get a wand that can kill through walls.
Most of the difficulty of enemies is that they can see you before you see them. But with ASE that's reversed. You'll never get ambushed again.
