Have you played any of the souls games? They are like 90% skill based. You can beat all the games at lvl 1 with nothing but a crappy dagger if you are so inclined.
>perfect difficulty system >uses ebrietas as an example
Bullshit, Ebrieats was the only boss where I struggled, her tackle's hitbox was absolute dogshit and kept hitting me even if her tentacles were 1-2 meters away from my character
The secret technique is to just let yourself get hit by it.
It won’t even one-shot you at bl4 if you just let it hit you. The issue is trying to dodge it, and that puts you in counter-frames meaning you take anywhere from 1.3x to 1.8x damage. If you make sure you have health and just stand still, you can’t die to it.
>The souls games in general had the perfect difficulty system. >1st boss attempt: "wtf? I'm never gonna beat this thing. This is ridiculous." >2nd boss attempt: "woah, that went much better. So...basically any reasonably challenging game with pattern-based bosses that expect you to die at least a handful of times before you actually learn the boss's patterns, figure out how to fight through those patterns, and get your first win?
Don't go shooting up a school you riced mutt frick. make it a synagogue instead.

The BT boss fights in Death Stranding are so boring on Very Hard. They're bullet sponges, and since you can't really die, there's no tension during the fight.
Filtered idiots complained about the delivery gameplay on release, but it was the actually the conventional shooting that was trash, and that's what all the boss fights are.
Control is like this too.

Very bad design, made me drop the game.
Not really if you use good mods, though you have to deal with light RNG around that. I do think the game has the other issue though, where enemies hit too hard by the end, but at least there's a slider for that.

Yes. The soulless corporate era started with Halo 3 and CoD4. You could even say that Halo 2 kicked it off by being the first game where the marketing budget greatly exceeded the development budget.
But they aren't. Legendary has them more resistant with improved armor and more aggressive, you can still one shot them with hit on the back. Basically, it's designed for co-op dues specific enemy waves
>mfw just finished Halo 3 on Legendary to see how long it took me
>A damage sponge is only a damage sponge when talking about HP, not shields.
Are you being obtuse on purpose or just laser accurate autistic about what constitutes a damage sponge?
Heroic is the fun mode but halo infinite on legendary is pretty easy. Halo CE, 3, and 5 are pretty easy too. It’s only reach and 4 where things get bullet spongey. 2 is moronicly difficult not because the enemies are bullet spongey but because you have no health.
>2 is moronicly difficult not because the enemies are bullet spongey but because you have no health.
Wasn't 2 unbalanced because they ran out of time to test it prior release?
>hard mode >enemies are 2x stronger but give 2x xp >due to how many enemies you fight, you massively outscale the enemies by midgame >>hard mode is too easy
Kingdom Hearts II’s critical difficulty is how every hard mode should be >take double damage >total health halved >deal 1.25x damage
It results in you being able to mow down enemies and bosses but you can get one shot until you get abilities that let you survive fatal hits
With halo, on legendary you have to play it like a cover shooter. Only peaking out of cover when it’s safe. On heroic you have jump around like a moron as if you’re playing a boomer shooter.
Do you guys prefer
1) first run on normal to learn the game followed by a hard run to challenge yourself/extend the play time OR
2) first run on hard to challenge yourself and prove you aren’t a scrub followed by a run on normal to relax and finally enjoy the game

why the frick would I want to play a game I already beat to "relax" that just sounds boring as shit. If I want to relax I play a different game or don't play games at all.
With halo, on legendary you have to play it like a cover shooter. Only peaking out of cover when it’s safe. On heroic you have jump around like a moron as if you’re playing a boomer shooter.
First run normal if it’s a series I’m not familiar with. First time hard if I am familiar with it. I play all Kingdom Hearts games and Resident Evils on the highest difficulties
With most games with 4+ difficulties I play the second hardest first followed by the hardest as long as it isn't dumb bullshit. I like when games have unlockable 4th difficulty designed around ng+ but ng optional. RE4 remake was fricking perfection on veteran into professional s+. One of the worst offenders for a game I never bothered touching the hardest difficulty was nu gow 4. What absolute trash design.
If a game has 3 settings I usually just play the hardest. Certain genres I'll always play the hardest. Metroidvanias always on the hardest. Certain genres I don't give a shit about difficulty like jrpgs. They are braindead easy even on their hardest settings so they are just a waste of time. I also almost never play jrpgs anymore because they suck so much. I'm looking at you smt. Boring dogshit easy series with less mechanically going on under the hood than fricking pokemon. Be better.
I wish games had a real mode, so if an enemy stabs you, you die but so does he.
Hard modes should be like that, not needing to shoot 50 times a boss and he gets to cut you in half in three attacks
Enemies can one shot you because their movement is gimped. There’s usually a delay in their attacks or they get stunned if you hit them. You can easily hope around them with a dodge but they walk slowly towards you. It’s designed like this so you can take on multiple enemies and not die, but the trade off is when they do hit you, you take a lot of damage. What you’re suggesting sounds extremely moronic and unfun. It would be like playing a multiplayer game where dying after getting 0 to 2 kills is common.
That would just make boss fights a shitty stick poke game where you die a couple times instantly then instantly kill the boss, you won't even get to see its full moveset
NTA, but there are a lot of games like that where I agree. Take Fallout or Skyrim for example. On easy, you die in like a hundred hits and everything dies in 1 hit, but on the highest difficulty, you die in 1 hit and everything takes 100 hits to kill. Kinda dumb. The "fun" mode would be where everything dies in just a few hits. So you can easily die in the game, but enemies aren't total damage sponges either. High stakes gameplay.
I know you can these particular games, but that is beyond the point. This is a general trend in game difficulty approach.
>I know you can mod* these particular games
So weird how you can totally skip typing an entire word like that. But I guess it is also 3am where I'm living, fml.
Nah, I've played Skyrim and Fallout where damage is simply multiplied so both you and mobs die a lot faster. I personally find the games more fun that way. If I sneak up to someone with a shotgun and blast their head I want them to die in one hit, but if I fail and get turned on, I want my character to go down in a couple hits too.
So you like playing shitty stealth games? Or maybe you are nostalgic for gears cover shooter gameplay. If a game doesn't have positional movement as part of combat it is not worth playing.
Boss fights should last a certain amount time to be good and memorable, sure they tend to go way over the other way but your idea of I die you die is just as bad.
It's not even really challenging anyway since even a really shit player with a couple tries can poke the boss in just the right time and kill it
I wish games had a real mode, so if an enemy stabs you, you die but so does he.
Hard modes should be like that, not needing to shoot 50 times a boss and he gets to cut you in half in three attacks

>I wish games had a real mode, so if an enemy stabs you, you die but so does he.
Because he mentioned that part too, which I agree with.
>Enemies move faster >New harder variations of old enemies >Enemies gain new special abilitie >Enemies gain better >Enemies begins to insult the player
I beat the first 3 levels on legendary and decided to stop because it was unfun. You don't seem to be more competent, you just have a lower tolerance for digesting putrid shit.
thats why most mainstream games are designed as easy-only and playtested on casual morons
then they simply jack up the stats for harder modes without changing gameplay or level design so it become punishing or tedious, its not fun when the gameplay is the same shallow casual shit, but it only takes longer
I think From doing difficulty pretty well, pretty fair unlike soulsclone like Nioh: too easy to break the game or LoP: reply too much on delayed attack, animations not matched with hitbox
I don't mind it if hard means bosses have more HP. Usually you can ignore a boss's mechanics at lower levels, which just ruins the experience
I do mind it if hard means every fricking mob being a damage sponge. I don't understand why you'd want to prolong the worst fricking part of the game
>every enemy on Very Hard oneshots you >bosses are given more difficult attack patterns, more power-ups, and have less openings
Or so I've seen about Nioh
Brutal on Starcraft 2 is moronic compared to hard. I would be fine with it if hard was more difficult but the jump in difficulty is way too much as it is.

>Hard modes should be like that, not needing to shoot 50 times a boss and he gets to cut you in half in three attacks
>inb4 not the same guy
Then why reply to me we weren't even talking about the same thing
>I wish games had a real mode, so if an enemy stabs you, you die but so does he.
Because he mentioned that part too, which I agree with.
>Enemies move faster
>New harder variations of old enemies
>Enemies gain new special abilitie
>Enemies gain better
>Enemies begins to insult the player

Bayonetta 1.
I beat the first 3 levels on legendary and decided to stop because it was unfun. You don't seem to be more competent, you just have a lower tolerance for digesting putrid shit.
>i-its not hard it just wasn't fun enough for me!
sure thing, bud
>able to dodge boss A’s moves effortlessly
>boss B’s move hit me no matter how hard I try to dodge
thats why most mainstream games are designed as easy-only and playtested on casual morons
then they simply jack up the stats for harder modes without changing gameplay or level design so it become punishing or tedious, its not fun when the gameplay is the same shallow casual shit, but it only takes longer
tldr lazy gamedesign
I think From doing difficulty pretty well, pretty fair unlike soulsclone like Nioh: too easy to break the game or LoP: reply too much on delayed attack, animations not matched with hitbox
>hard is far too easy after you learn the basics of the game
>very hard is ridiculously hard
I don't mind it if hard means bosses have more HP. Usually you can ignore a boss's mechanics at lower levels, which just ruins the experience
I do mind it if hard means every fricking mob being a damage sponge. I don't understand why you'd want to prolong the worst fricking part of the game
>every enemy on Very Hard oneshots you
>bosses are given more difficult attack patterns, more power-ups, and have less openings
Or so I've seen about Nioh
as kino as that webm is, women doing sports is inherently cringe.
Only other webm I've got of a bleeding woman has sound, unfortunately

Brutal on Starcraft 2 is moronic compared to hard. I would be fine with it if hard was more difficult but the jump in difficulty is way too much as it is.
