Not a real video game

The only thing keeping this “video game” relevant is third worlders that can’t afford real video games.

That much is true for much of the mobile gaming. It's pretty weird how a phone is the primary gaming system for so many people.

      >It's pretty weird how a phone is the primary gaming system for so many people.
Because you can get a 200 bucks phone that can do almost anything while a PS5 with a game would go over 700 or 800 in most of these turd world countries.

but hours you spend gaming.. just work a little more and buy refurbished?

In most of these countries a livable wage is literally 120$/m do you really think they can afford a 550€ console that thanks to import fees and other shit ass "taxes" would increase its price well over the 700 or 800€ plus an over 100€ game is something the average citizen can afford even if it's second hand?

You can get a PC at any budget, even free if you dumpster dive. It'll suck ass but still play more legacy games than you can possibly complete in your lifetime.
Getting the games isn't a big problem either. F2P is a menace, tho. It introduced a whole mess of cancerous gameplay and monetization gimmicks.

The problem with F2P games isn't that they have mtx, but that they literally incorporated the cash shop into the game's tutorial and basically hinder everyone who doesn't drop big money into the advantage mtx.
The biggest problem of all is that a lot of kids who don't even know that a button will perform a monetary transaction will literally spend thousands of dollars from their parents credit card without even knowing they're even buying shit since the whole game directs them to spending money.
Just look at all the threads on this board, it's people boasting about how they spend big money on gacha runs.

The problem with F2P is F2P.
If the game is free, you can download it right away, start playing, end up enjoying it, get hooked. You might drop some cash as a token of appreciation, or keep grinding for free, feeling like there's nothing better than free games funded by some other suckers.
Because a game is free, people are less picky about its quality - what can you expect from a game you didn't pay for, right? Of course it has energy bars, ads, mtx, basic graphics, grindy gameplay... But it's better than having nothing to play.
F2P is considered superior to paid games, because why pay upfront when you can pay when/if you feel the game deserves it?
As live services, these games are bustling with activity. They get support even for decades, millions of people play them, there's a new event every few weeks, and if they die, you can always pick up another.
I would even dare say that F2P diminished the effects of piracy. Instead of checking out warez sites, torrenting sketchy files, applying cracks, etc., you can grab a free game legally.
Mobile gaming especially had the misfortune of getting caught up in this model since the beginning and there's zero chance of fixing the situation unless F2P becomes literally illegal.

For mobile games - yeah. The only good mobile games ive found are old (flappy bird era) or post of pc games. Still, its more that all other mobile games have this bullshit so if your favorite game starts doing this - where are you gonna move to? Plus all the scummy practices of getting you invested in a game though grinds you dont want to through away and le dopamine hits.

However cheaters are more abundant in f2p

Most third worlders have laptops or something.. right? Even if pcs arent as popular with a little knowhow you can self refurbish something an office is throwing away.

Office hardware isn't so good for gaming if it only has Intel GPU, but it's still plenty fine for very-low-end gaming like CS 1.6, which still has lots of active servers.
Poorgays used to assemble cheap PCs out of whatever parts they could get their hands on, including older, factory-mint components. A bigger issue was software support. For instance, if after 2014 your XP-powered rig stopped working, you wouldn't be able to reinstall the service packs though updates.
However, I think zoomers in particular are just lazy, spoiled, ridiculously tech illiterate, and happen to be most familiar with smartphones, probably after spending the entirety of their childhood in front of one. You can get a cheap chink tablet in a supermarket and immediately play whatever's free and hot at the moment, which means you don't need to know how to build, configure and maintain a PC, or how to torrent games to have a stopgap gaming setup.

If you wanna use the third world card, I would rather say that too little people will go through the effort of emulating on their phones (between picking up a emulator on a site, getting roms on other, and finding games that are comfy enough to play on a flat screen rather than keyboard/joystick/an actual handheld console), so freemium is seen as more convenient.

      Speaking from experience
      >Download the emulator from playstore
      >You try the demo/free version or...
      >Realize you can't pay for it so you pirate it via Aptoide or from apk site
      >Find a ROM site that may or may not be shut down
      >Have the patience to deal with pop-up ads on the phone browser mind you

      >I had to navigate the shitty file explorer
      >Find out that you need to install a 3rd party file explorer
      >If it's an .iso you will need to download a 3rd-party file extractor to extract the compressed file depending on the format .rar or .7z
      >open emulator search for games and play
      >repeat for every game you want to play

Also psp emulation was ass back in the day time flies

I don't want to hear this from the sons of b***hes that inhabit a gacha board.

Have fun when this board becomes another Ganker where c**ts can just make up easy baits and gays will just swarm over to celebrate the stinking glorious new culture. I suspect most of you are newbies here.

probably, but this extends to more than just zoomers. Even millennials' main computer activity besides work is on phones.

      >zoomers in particular are just lazy, spoiled, ridiculously tech illiterate
      Nope

the tech illiterate part is true due to the phone stuff I mentioned earlier. The rest is boomer cope. They also have the debuff of third world education.
