My only issue is why did they have to make Pikachu sound so daddy? It makes me feel weird and tingly. At least In the movie they gave him a gayish voice which makes sense since it’s Pikachu, but the games?? Daddy af for no reason
There's quite a bit of fan service and he doesn't know a lot of the newer gen Pokémon so it's fun for me to give him context and tell him the names and such and when he has questions he asks me. I also noticed they use the actual berries from the games so when I pointed out the nanab berries he started quizing me on all the berries he saw lol. I'm having fun watching him play because I also get involved periodically.
>close to zero advertising besides showing up in Directs >original got its English release a year after the Switch released >most of the game is pre-rendered but it still looks like a 3DS game
The only way they could have saved it was porting the original to switch first or having it follow the movie canon to attract normies
I saw the ending and the voice acting is mediocre, the animation is lame, the graphics look like gamecube tier, and the plot is lame. This game is nothing more than shovelware which kids might buy anyway because "muh pikachu with a cute hat".
The concept works but they probably shouldn't have used Pikachu. It kind of adds to the lameness factor I've seen many people bring up in what few threads there are about the game, maybe use a more thematically appealing (while still marketable) Pokemon that one might better perceive in the role of a detective.
Pokemon spin-offs died with the DS. Normalgays only care about the release of new mainline games, and kids would rather play the free mobile games over real spin-offs. There is no real audience left for proper spin-offs.
>she's the pokemon of the policeman >but her role in the story is downplayed because this game is going with the "pokemon are just animals with superpowers" interpretation
Well, I'm glad she got the slot, but it probably would have not been worth it to set up yuzu for this game.
>game acknowledges the movie >tim isn't pissed they blacked him >somehow the director of the movie knows Pikachu and Tim can communicate despite them keeping it a secret
Game looks and most likely is a port from the handheld era of games.
Looked like shit and the original game never had that much of a clout. It's the exact opposite of what they did with New Pokemon Snap.
>Animations are somehow worse than those in the 3ds original
3ds had alot of motion capture cutscenes, especially the Pikachu prompts.
Switch removes nearly all of that with them just reusing the same animations over and over again
Imagine instead of Detective Pikachu, there was horror mystery series called Detective Looker, staring Looker and his partner, Croagunk. Looker and Croagunk are accompanied by a cute secretary girl and her partner Lampent, who light up clues that can't be normally seen by the naked eye. You have to find out who's the killer and the evidence needed to prosecute them in a Ace Attorney style court.

>ryan reinalds
>gayish
Just because you're gay for him doesn't mean he is.
Jesus.
>caring about video game critics
Watching my boyfriend play it and he doesn't give a shit about pokemon but he's really enjoying it
...is the appeal of the game not the fanservice?

thats because he's a homosexual and so are you
no one cares about Dective Pikachu
They could have made it not so braindead easy. I know this is a kid's franchise but Christ

>piss easy
>story is the same shit
>3ds game was already ass, why should we buy the sequel to it
>full price
>>full price
Is it? It's being sold for £10 less than the big first party titles and main games here
Still too high. $40 is as generous as I would go, but it's better off as a $20 - $30 title.
I am not even sure what it is.
Is it a re-release, a sequel, or a re-release with extra content?
It's a sequel

Pretty sure there will be a Detective Pikachu distribution now that he went back being a standard pokemon.

>Pokemon spin-offs died with the DS
Agreed, except for New Snap.
Is Rhyperior in?

it’s a pokemon game with no online battling, so of course it flopped. same reason why legend was instantly forgotten
>it’s a pokemon game with no online battling
The best games in the franchise don't have online battling
>game acknowledges the movie
>tim isn't pissed they blacked him
>somehow the director of the movie knows Pikachu and Tim can communicate despite them keeping it a secret
Is the world building interesting in any way or form?

wow, just mainline pokemon games

>looker
yikes. frick that turner self insert. there a good reason he isnt in any of the switch games
please no. looker needs to frick off and never come back.
this sounds exactly like Detective Pikachu except for the killer part.
Pokémon need a Phoenix Wright and Layton crossover
Poor thing was dead on arrival. Also we went from pic related to an Overwatch pro player
does she appear in the game at all?
I saw her on a TV
