Nah, this is pretty much true. BattleCry Studios was a separate subsidiary of Zenimax. Announced that they were making a different live service game called BattleCry, failed, and were eventually handed the Fallout IP and rebranded to Bethesda Austin. They did most of the core engine programming while Bethesda's core engine team worked on the improvements for Creation Engine 2.

I've been playing Fallout 1 and 2 to pass the time until it releases. I've been a fallout fan for a while, played them all but 76, tactics and BOS, but the rest I have played pretty thoroughly. It's my favourite franchise.
Yesterday, right as I was falling asleep, I realized that the 23rd of october is not only the date the bombs fell in the games, but also the day my father passed away, just last year.
The realization made me feel a deep sadness. I honestly couldn't care less about the random date Tim Cain or whoever chose for the bombs falling in a fictional world, but now that I've noticed, I can't really separate one from the other in my mind. And this might be the only place where I can say it without sounding like an absolute loon.
