Not too sure why you're all only talking about the cash-in SH2 remake and debating trees, and not the actually new interesting game they're making.
Not too sure why you're all only talking about the cash-in SH2 remake and debating trees, and not the actually new interesting game they're making.
Who gives a shit when it obviously wont even feel like Silent Hill? It might as well be a new horror IP. In that sense its a cash-in as well since its just piggyback riding on an already established series
That's some moronic logic, there hasn't been a new game in the series for years, you could also say some of the older games don't even "feel" like Silent Hill games, you can't compare anything especially when it's differing opinions on what silent hill is.
There isnt a clear cut answer to what makes a Silent Hill game and what doesnt, you're right in that regard, but from the trailer alone you virtually cannot even tell its supposed to be Silent Hill without the title being shown and knowing your watching a trailer for a new Silent Hill game.
It doesnt take place in the town, it doesnt even take place in America, hell even the creature design and nightmare world dont evoke the feeling of SH.
I love this series and it speaks volumes that i'd rather see it stay dead than have its corpse be dangled infront of me and be expected to be happy about it.
Yeah Japanese horror settings were more a Fatal Frame or Siren thing
I'm still interested to see how F ties into the other games maybe it will go into the origin of the gods and cult
I saw a rural town and a bunch of fog, that's all i needed to associate it with Silent Hill since that's the only consistency between any of the games in the series.
The only twist is just setting the a different rural town culturally. I do think they got the talent to make an interesting game.
>the only consistency
The Cult
>I saw a rural town and a bunch of fog, that's all i needed to associate it with Silent Hill
Anon, do not tell me with a straight face you would know this is a SH trailer if it didn't explicitly say it is.
I'm just so fricking tired of series i love being shit on, i wish they'd at least leave them dead then turn them into something they aren't
>There isnt a clear cut answer to what makes a Silent Hill game and what doesnt
The town of Silent Hill. Frick everything after 3.
So it will be like another Silent Hill 4? Sounds great
>muh burger town
You'll have Townfall for that
I’m so starved for decent psychological horror these days that I don’t even give a frick if the new SH is set in SH or not.
Because Siren fans didn't watch a Silent Hill presentation expecting a new game.
From a lore perspective, how is this connected to previous SH games? Sure, it's the most interesting teaser showed, but as other anons said it should be its own IP.
>From a lore perspective, how is this connected to previous SH games?
The main character is Alessa's grandmother
>how is this connected to previous SH games?
Maybe wait until they show more or the game releases you fricking moron, do you want them to spoon feed you the twist and endings too?
Unironically yes. Silent Hill 4 came out in 2004 and the series has been dog shit ever since. Of course everyone is convinced this game is going to be terrible out the gate. The SH2 remake it done by Bloober team, and this is being written by the Higurashi guy and set in 1960's Japan instead of SILENT FRICKING HILL. Nothing they showed inspires confidence.
https://twitter.com/adsk4/status/1583204879996444672
Even Ito knows
What about Townfall
Matt fumbling the controls and throwing the axe in the pit while Pat cackles is iconic. Nothing else from that game is worth remembering.
>Japan instead of SILENT FRICKING HILL
Once again, wait.
>Nothing they showed inspires confidence.
It looks cool, different and scary, seems to have a good writter and it doesn't seem to be on the "SH2 again but worse" bandwagon. Now if they actually show it and it's shit I'll be the first to admit it.
>the Ito tweet
That's specifically about the SH2 Remake.
>From a lore perspective, how is this connected to previous SH games?
This thing comes from Japan according to a memo found in SH1.
Another magic lake with magic fog does basically the same thing.
itll get canceled
the only reason they canned PT is because of kojima hiring billion dollar actors like a moron
Should have went for Hereditary instead of Midsommar, or like the kids say, MIDsommar.
This is the cash in you stupid fricking moron. Silent Hill is about a haunted town called Silent Hill which is in the United States and has very established lore about Alessa and her fricked up crazy mom's cult and why she's a vengeful spirit. This takes place in 1960's Japan. This has absolutely nothing to do with Silent Hill. This is just a cash-in J-Horror game using the Silent Hill name as a spring board.
60% of SH3 takes place in Portland
100% of SH3 is about Cheryl Mason, the daughter of Harry Mason, and she is the reincarnation of Alessa.
What about 4 then?
Silent Hill 4 is the Silent Hill f of the 2000's. Some cash-in that's just barely connected to Silent Hill to get sales.
Okay but it was still good
RE7 was another good example of a cash in that turned out well, so well it saved the entire series from its action direction
>Okay but it was still good
Opinion discarded
>RE7 was another good example of a cash in that turned out well, so well it saved the entire series from its action direction
So you have no idea what you're even talking about, awesome
kek sorry to have different tastes, I'm not a brand purist
I wasn't the guy that made the thread I agree there's not much to talk about yet but F still looks interesting
And? What is there to talk about? The trailer basically showed nothing, no gameplay, no general synopsis. ect. While SH2 showed something and we already have the foundation to it. You're just b***hing for the sake of b***hing.
100% of SH4 is about the cult and Walter Sullivan (previously introduced in SH2)
>(previously introduced in SH2)
As a passing reference in a single note
Walter is basically an OC in 4
And Joseph Schreiber while we're at it, further proves my point that the game doesn't need to take place in the town itself to be connected.
Maybe not but there should be more than passing references
You're acting like a different city is the same as being on the other side of the world decades before the events of the first game which kickstarted the paranormal occurences in the series continuity
That's not even mentioning how there's evidence to suggest the source of the paranormal comes from within the town itself, meaning that it makes no fricking sense for it to be in Japan
There can be different otherworlds tho. This one looks nothing like rusty Silent Hill.
The fact you are saying this as if that makes it somehow fine depresses me to no end
>There can be different otherworlds tho.
no they can' be.
>source of the paranormal comes from within the town itself
What are you trying to say? that God and beings like Valtiel didn't exist before Alessa? or that they can only appear in or near Silent Hill?
My guess is that F is either a reboot and this is a new Silent Hill, or it will be connected through the White Claudia due to all the flowers.
I never took the cult stuff at face value. My interpretation is that the cult corrupted the power of the town through Alessa, causing it to be unleashed and create the Otherworld. I base my interpretation only on what happens in 1-3
So Hell just happens to be created because of Alessa? yeah the town got fricked because of her in 1, but SH's story with the paranormal goes all the way back to Civil War times
>I base my interpretation only on what happens in 1-3
I don't think 4 contradicts anything 1-3, and anything past 4 isn't canon anyways yet
>SH's story with the paranormal goes all the way back to Civil War times
I don't dispute that, i was talking about the town being the way it is because of the Alessa incident. Otherwise yea, the power of the town is ancient, as its stated that it used to be a sacred area for the Native Americans.
I just believe that the way it materializes, as in the fog world that materializes your fears/sins as monsters
(continuation, didnt finish my sentence) was because of what happened with Alessa
I see, let's agree to disagree, I just believe there is a greater paranormal lore that 3 established which is beyond the town of SH and I hope F is a good game that capitalizes on it and we don't get shit like Homecoming and Origins.
fair enough, i highly doubt this new game will deliver on what i want from a SH game, but i hope that it gives you what you want, have a good one anon
>I just believe there is a greater paranormal lore that 3 established which is beyond the town of SH
you sound like a demented apologist that is rationalizing this as frick cause you desperately want to like it for some unexplained reason.
>unexplained reason.
I just want a good game thank you very much.
There's literally no reason to think this will be it. Just because you want it high enough, that wont change the reality. And reality is that the series is dead for 20 years almost and it was bastardised to the point where not even fans know what the series was about. Do you understand the definition of insanity? How many times do they need to shit and piss in your mouth before you finally understand that they a) don't care and b) it can't be good with the talent and money involved.
>How many times do they need to shit and piss in your mouth before you finally understand
I assure you this will be the last time.
>I assure you this will be the last time.
why? are you just too young? There's nothing to look forward to.
They either frick up again or they don't, or they don't frick up it now to just frick it up again in the future. It's not that hard.
>if
there's no if unless you are deranged moron. Normal human being can discern what is a steaming pile of shit just by using his eyes and the sense of smell. He doesn't need to eat it to confirm that its shit. You are literally watching a donkey shitting and you are hoping it will shit eggs or gold. It's not how it works
>Shizuoka town = translates to Silent Hill
Seems like an alright explanation
I'm interested as a horror game since it's made by the dude who wrote higurashi, but as a SH game, no. It's set in Japan and the aesthetic is very Japanese centric, basically should've been it's own IP based on what I've seen in the trailer.
Why did they do a capcom and started from the second game? Why not just start from square one and remake silent hill 1 and then go from there?
Horror games don't make money unless they have Resident Evil in the title. If they remake 1, they're obligated to remake 3 to complete Harry and Cheryl's story. If they remake 2, it's a stand-alone title that happens to be the most popular in the franchise and has the iconic Pyramid Head.
They should just have toughened it out and said frick it and remade the whole trilogy, starting from the first game. But i'm not in charge, so that's not what's happening.
But Capcom also started remaking with RE2.
They literally remade 1 in 2015
REmake was made in fricking 2002, zoomers
I said 2015 literally just to see if anyone would notice. Good job anon.
Good bait
Thanks anon
They know 2 is the easiest to market and is generally loved the most by fans, plus they already kinda tried a 1 remake in Shattered Memories
Konami skipped to making a MGS3 remake now for the same reasons
A remake of SH1 would be an absolute disaster. It would require creatively. SH2 they can just do a 1:1 with the oversight of a couple key directors and have slav slave labor do all the heavy lifting.
Slav coder monkey workers are a thing now? I thought they were all indians? Or is that only rockstar?
Nobody wants to work with an Indian when you can pay a Slav the same amount.
>slavs
I wish. It's even worse, pollacks.
pollacks are slavs
>pollacks are slavs
by that logic czechs are germans
legit
SH1 isn't that popular. And I am actually glad for that.
>Why did they do a capcom and started from the second game?
Because they have already remade SH1.
>a complete reimagining with none of the original context or gameplay level design is a ‘remake’
Anon, I…
The only thing the two games have in common is Harry and Cheryl get into a car crash. It's not a remake
What would you call it then? A reboot?
We call it a "Tom Hullet can't make a SH game without retreading old ground"
Right, a reimagining as I said would’ve been a more accurate descriptor for SM.
True, but with this reimagining and the movie, how many times do you want the story of Alessa to be retold?
No one really gives a shit about Silent Hill 1. 2 is the most famous in the franchise because it has very strong, standalone horror writing, and 3 is fondly remembered because of its polished presentation compared to the others, and Heather Mason being the greatest horror game protagonist in the industry.
Don't listen to a single fricking thing this idiot says.
This is a reboot and Silent Hill is a japanese town now. That or just accept the otherworld can manifest in other places than Silent Hill, Maine only.
>we want the fatal frame audience.
because its still 60 years away from releasing. who gives a shit
I have no faith at all in anything not a remake. At least with a remake of one of the best games of all time there is a chance we can see some of its former glory on modern hardware. I've been wanting to see that original Silent Hill horror brought to life on a modern gen console/pc so its about damn time.
Knowing ryukishi the twist will be that the main character has drug induced hallucinations after playing the original silent hill game, and she's a transexual
kek
can someone explain to me the big twist behind higurashi? what's so special about it
>can someone explain to me the big twist behind higurashi? what's so special about it
aliens
UFO ending bros, we're back and canon now
>written by ryushiki07
That's your answer, he cannot write for shit and expect good-is characters but a shit story and shitty twists.
rgd was good
Generic j horror shit not silent hill.
>Generic j horror shit not silent hill.
Townfall
I wonder if ryu can get away with a detailed js rape scene under the pretence of it being art and important to the story.
Unfortunately it would have gone even more under the radar if they didn't announce the remake of 2 alongside it, see how Townfall barely gets any attention. I hope they cancel that Ascencion shit though.
Do you think that if 2R and F are succeful we will finally get a game with the original script for 3 that TS wanted to use for the SH5 that never happened?
no
🙁
sorry 🙁
I will never find peace, knowing there was another TS game that never came to be fricks me up, wouldn't have given a shit about everything that came after if they went out with a bang.
I feel the same way about MML3
>Actually interesting
>Le epic generic feudal Japan setting
>In a fricking Silent Hill game
No thanks I hate Japan.
>feudal
but otherwise I agree
>written by the When They Cry guy
it's going to be chuuni dogshit
The fact that R07 is writing it will either make it the most batshit insane video game in decades or boring and cheap, nothing in between.
