Compared to how barebones DKC1 was in retrospect, yeah.
The GBA remake even fixes the complaint about David Wise not having composed almost any of the music in DKC3.
i mean not really no go play the gba or wiiware or some indie games or anything but shovelware really. 2d platformers never got bad, they just fell out of style for a bit.
yeah it's solid. not as good as the second game but not many games are.

admittedly i haven't played that version but what's wrong with the music in the og? aside from the first level, it's all great.
>the worst DKC game being the last good 2D platformer >meaning the worst DKC game is still better than literally everything else that came afterward, painting a grim picture for the future of platformers
Fun fact 1: In 1998 my folks gave me the option of buying Final Fantasy 7 or Punky Skunk, and I chose Punky Skunk.
Fun fact 2: Shortly after (most likely before) the release of this ad, Skunks were no longer classified as part of the weasel family, making this ad as nonsense as it sounds.
I quite like the national park aesthetic of DKC3. It feels like Rare threw every gimmick idea they had left at the levels. She me are dog shit, some are fun. Fish Food Frenzy comes to mind as incredibly frustrating at first, then once you figure out the gimmick it just becomes a monotonous level. Game has the best bosses of the series at least. Kiddy Kong deserved better.
Was it good though?

DKC1 is the best in the series.
>GBA remake even fixes
The GBA OST doesn't fit the game at all.
homie, it's the wilderness.
How does it not? t. 100% it
No.

There's been lots of good 2D platformers since. They're just not made by Nintendo/Rare. They're all indies now.
It wasn't better than DKC2, if that's what you mean, but it absolutely was good.
That's Donkey Kong Country 3 though

yea
Rayman legends was good, but not retro
>November 1996
It was the first bad 2D platformer.
That would be Pac-Land
Actually it would be Super Mario 2 Donkey Donkey Picnic: Mario Madness™
>Donkey donkey picnic
The DKC games were always trash. Even if they weren't, Kirby's Dream Land 3 came out in 1997 so that would have been the last good 2D platformer.
They weren't and KDL3 sucked
Not true.

Not possible. That would come out in 1999.
these Donkey Country games are incredibly ugly
I remember reading somewhere that a lot of British characters are ugly on purpose because Bongs find ugly characters endearing
Dkc3 has so many issues. Anyone ever notice sound effects get cut off all the time?
