It actually feels more like a horror game if you play offline. There's more mystery, but the bots are too stiff so the experience is nowhere near as good.
Yeah it's nicer in some ways, because you can take your time and look around, mess around, whatever. Online, it's just a rush to the finish line unless you're playing with friends.
I was playing on CRTs right through most of the 360 generation. When I finally got an HDTV the first thing I did in it was okay Dead Rising since I could finally read the text without sitting right against the screen.
I remember a girl I had a crush on introduced me to L4D. I don't think I would have played the game otherwise. Ended up enjoying it quite a bit. Don't really like L4D2 as much though. Ah well.
worth playing singleplayer? i have no friends and i dont wanna play with 12 yo randos
