yes, but at any point Facebook has can delete accounts that they consider fake, which would brick your headset and make it a reasonably expensive paperweight.
i made a face account with a fake (google) number then deleted facebook account. not "de-activated", the more permanent option where now if i try to log in with that number it says it's not valid. vr headset still works
>they'll just brick your system
lmfao they've done nothing to stop people from pirating and moding their device do you think they'll give a flying frick about using a fake name? dont be moronic
I'm 30yo and I

sorry, anon. fatfrick gabe has decided that mobile gimmicks like the deck will sell more units to bus-riding chinks than proper vr innovation
But the decks isn't. And that's what the deck is, shitty mid-range hardware. How would shitty, mid-range and already dated hardware serve as a staging ground for something as powerful as standalone vr? think moron, think!

It would certainly work at the very least somewhat better than phone hardware with XR2

And a go-kart can technically drive on a freewway. That doesn't make a go kart a good car though, does it? Is that what you're asserting? Valve plans to use shitty mobile gimmick hardware of the deck to stage a stand alone vr? Can't wait for that disaster!

You don't have to be so aggressive man, it's not like I'm insulting or threatening you or something.
As for your question, Quest 2 exists and sells a lot.

Cool story, moron
But the Quest 2 selling a lot of units has no bearing on the previous discussion. Do you want me to pretend you're not moronic and that what you just said isn't complete diarrhea in written form? Quest 2 has nothing to do with valves projects

Alright, sorry.
You win the argument.

I didn't win the argument because you haven't i would love to hear how the decks basic b***h shitty ryzen will serve as the staging ground for stand alone vr better than steams existing unit. I really would.
The facebook shit has always been the least of the oculus's problems, you can just make a throwaway, log in, block the headset in your firewall and then delete the account if you want. The biggest problem I have with it is that zucc is trying to turn vr into mobileshit and my minor problems are stuff like being limited by battery life even via cable and streaming the game instead of having it display natively.
The cable charges it so the battery is extended, but the headset still burns through it faster than it charges from what I understand and that's brand new, when these things get worn out and the battery starts getting worn out the cable connection will last less time as well.
I don't have a headset yet (ordered the lenses for a quest 2, was going to wait until they get here to actually buy the thing). Is Virtual Desktop just a different wireless way to use it as a PCVR headset?
Can you just make a fb account with a fake name?

Yeah but they'll just brick your system
You can link a head set to an infinite number of accounts. Your post is pure schizo
>if you mortals do not please us, we will remotely make your $400 headsets unusable
>you paid for the hardware, but it still belongs to us anyway
Richard Stallman was proven right yet again.
>they'll just brick your system

It’s an android device, they can’t do anything to stop anyone from modifying it.
>having to jump through hoops just to gain functionality you should have out of the box
Yeah, I think I'd rather just get the Index.
Yeah, I think I'd rather just keep $700
deleting my facebook account and other social media accounts gave me such a great sense of freedom

Oculus is so integrated into the Facebook ecosystem at this point that I don't think there really is a true way to separate the two.
I'd just consider getting an alternative VR headset.

sorry, anon. fatfrick gabe has decided that mobile gimmicks like the deck will sell more units to bus-riding chinks than proper vr innovation
Deck is just a preparation step for the stand-alone Index 2
>shitty hardware that's inferior to existing pc hardware is a prep step for stand alone hardware
never go full moron, steamcuck
PC hardware is a broad definition.
But the decks isn't. And that's what the deck is, shitty mid-range hardware. How would shitty, mid-range and already dated hardware serve as a staging ground for something as powerful as standalone vr? think moron, think!

don't care. giving all my information to facebook.

>battery life even with a cable
wot. what vr is physically tethered to hardware but still has a headset battery?
The cable charges it so the battery is extended, but the headset still burns through it faster than it charges from what I understand and that's brand new, when these things get worn out and the battery starts getting worn out the cable connection will last less time as well.
Does this let you use Air Link? Because if so, you better fricking believe I'm using this.
>Air Link
You don’t need it when you can use Virtual Desktop, and supposedly iVRy but I never made it work.
Air link is free. Virtual Desktop costs money.
Yeah but Airlink requires the Oculus program on your PC.
Yeah, it came out way before airlink and it has more options actually. The other anon is right, it costs money.
>Yeah but Airlink requires the Oculus program on your PC.
VD also expects Oculus runtime to be active.
No you don’t
You won't be able to purchase VD without a working oculus account anyway.
You can get VD here
https://sidequestvr.com/app/16
That's cool to know.
Thanks.
