It's one of the better Souls clones, and with a bunch of unique mechanics, not a 1:1 copy.
Also the Sekiro style focus on parry/deflect makes it more interesting.
>with a bunch of unique mechanics
More like bunch of useless mechanics, the weapon customization is shitty with 99% of blade and handles end up as useless shit, skill tree is moronic and unbalanced
>Also the Sekiro style focus on parry/deflect makes it more interesting.
It's the fact that it doesn't exclusively focus on parry/deflect that makes it interesting, games where you're meant to just parry everything with no exception are boring as sin
>Also the Sekiro style focus on parry/deflect makes it more interesting.
It's the fact that it doesn't exclusively focus on parry/deflect that makes it interesting, games where you're meant to just parry everything with no exception are boring as sin
Am I a moron that hasn't been playing the game right? Why would you focus on deflecting shit? It feels like it's way more efficient and low risk to just dodge every attack rather than risk fricking up the timing on the perfect parry.
You can do whichever feels right for you. Parrying is more high risk high reward since you build up stagger faster, but dodging is the safest option, so you can even just mix it around depending on the fights
Actually good game that even if it looks like a soulless mishmash of bb and sekiro still manages to do its own thing kinda and overall very fun experience.
>the steam charts man the steam charts!!! >how will i know if a game is good if it isnt in the top 5 on steamcharts!!!!
we need to euthanize these people
One of the best games of 2023. It's too linear and doesn't have brancing paths, and the loot is boring as shit, so it's mostly just a gauntlet through enemies between bosses. Their next game could be on-par with a Souls game if they listen to feedback and improve the budget some more.
>It's too linear and doesn't have branching paths,
Bought. I care more about good design than moronic "role playing" forced choice options locking you out of content. Finally a souls clone that gets this
It is actually super good, the only bad parts for me are that it is very linear and that the first bosses are very easy. The combat system is ridiculously good with the weapon/handle system and the parrying.
I am not through yet after nearly 20 hours and it already might be in the same class as From games for me. Surprise hit of the year for me for sure.
This game is, like, sooo amazing... if you're into, like, boring stuff and wasting your time. First of all, the graphics are, like, straight out of the Stone Age. I mean, did the developers even try? And the characters? Don't get me started! They're about as interesting as a potato.
The story? Well, it's basically a snooze-fest. I'd rather watch paint dry, to be honest. And don't even get me started on the controls. It's like they were designed by someone who's never even seen a video game before.
But hey, if you're into, like, punishing yourself and wasting your allowance, then go ahead. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
Anon, if you keep typing in that manner I'm going to associate you with some big tittied gyaru or California valley girl and jerk off to your posts. You've been warned.
They are harder to pull off than dodges but help build up stagger if you can get them right, while just dodging lets you avoid the damage but you'll only be building up stagger through attacks. Honestly, it's best to go for both: try to parry what you can, dodge what you find harder to parry or not worth the parry risk. Focusing on just one will make you feel miserable during certain encounters.
I am still contemplating putting down 10 bucks for XPass to try it out but it looks extremely budget. Also cant see Korea putting out a quality product.
Let me rephrase this. In what fashion do you believe it looks budget? Is it the combat? Graphics? Storytelling? Worldbuilding? It's 10$ for functionally 30 hours (true ending playthrough) of a mix between Sekiro and Bloodborne gameplay, with a bit more linear map design than standard Dark Souls. Not terribly much of it screams "Budget option" to me, honestly, so I'm curious what YOU personally think is budget about it.
Alright well, game looks fantastic so I'm honestly just going to stop engaging with you, you sound like a moron. Have a good evening/night/morning/whatever time of day it is in your hovel.
Pretty good, I think NG+ probably needs a bit of toning down in terms of boss damage output, but other than that it's pretty solid. Might also want to give some of the slower weapons poise/hyper armor since a tiny hit will generally break the attack, which makes them generally non-functioning.
Oh yeah, heavy weapons having no hyperarmor is my biggest issue with the game in terms of gameplay. But they are not abandoning the game apparently so we'll see how they balance it.
>pander to women and trannies with a twink protagonist >filter said women and trannies by making the game too hard >wonder why it flopped
asiatics are fricking moronic
Reminder that fable art attacks can also break stagger, so you can use that instead of a charge attack if your charge is too slow. Shot put throwables also break stagger.
It's probably the best direct souls clone i've ever seen. I don't consider Nioh to be one of them, so here's that, though.
There's a bit of jankiness here and there and the game is pretty linear, but the work they did is fricking impeccable for a studio with no prior portfolio with ARPGs of this kind.
The combat animations and feedback are probably the best aside from Fromsoft games, hell it's arguably better than anything Fromsoft themselves did prior to Bloodborne or even Elden Ring, certainly better than DS3.
They made a SHITLOAD of unique content. Basically every chapter brings new enemies to the table and modifies old ones extensively, one of the late bosses is a repeat of an early game boss, but unlike garbage like 2 apes in Sekiro, it's a completely new battle mechanically.
Levels are fairly linear but there's still enough exploration to feel satisfying, and the game loves verticality and looping design.
There's like 50 weapons and almost no of them have repeated movesets beyond maybe a slash or two, boss weapons blow Fromsoft boss weapon design out of a fricking water, there's a legit reason to do ng+ and even ng++ since it opens up new P-Organ phases and allows you to better experiment with boss talismans that are too heavy for the first run.
The story is also surprisingly decent. The twist with Romeo in particular is really cool, i knew it would be something special when there was a fricking MGR Raiden piloting King of Puppets.
It's great, or it was. I've hit the end of the road with the puppet master. I've been on this boss for 10 hours, and I don't think my reflexes are going to cut it, I'm locked out of the game and can't get any further. I never know how to feel when other people on youtube can do it, but neurologically I am maxxed out an incapable of progressing. The game ends here for me, I'd give it a 7. It would have been an 8 but I'm biased, I'll never see the end of the game so I'm not happy about that. The difficulty makes souls games look easy by comparison.
>Pinocchio is completely silent in the beginning of the game, he doesn't react on getting hit >the more humanity you gain, the more reactions you hear from him, he actually makes sounds while being hit and making strong attacks >his idle animations change from more robotic to more natural and humanlike >the cat in the main hub hisses at him when he's a puppet, the more humanity you gain the more he likes him >the nose growing out of painting eventually turns into a golden bo staff with a cool moveset
I like the boss fights but the rest of the game is boring so far. The level design doesn't have much more going on than placing basic enemies in your path, and for the most part they all feel the same to fight. The bigger enemies can be fun but the way that almost every attack has a very quick attack animation and can't be parried by sight gets frustrating, it should be more of a mix to encourage both blocking and parrying when appropriate. It's still better than any of the western Soulslikes, it isn't painful to play or anything it's just dull
Not that that's saying much. Saying this as a lover of all fanservice games and who has the platinum trophy for every single Senran Kagura game, Code Vein was so insultingly awful that even I couldn't even finish it.
It's one of the better Souls clones, and with a bunch of unique mechanics, not a 1:1 copy.

Peak Ganker, right here.
Maybe try to play the game moron and you will know what i was talking about
You first.
you mean metal gear rising style?
>Also the Sekiro style focus on parry/deflect makes it more interesting.

Popular doesn't mean good, it never has, you dumb frickin sheep
Do morons really buy these single player games FULL PRICED on Steam?
>cant use any controller but xbox
thx israelite gates
my dualshock works just fine and there's a mod to enable ps button prompts

The biggest surprise of the year. Not goty but better than anyone expected.

P P hehe

It’s tough, I’m having a harder timf with it than any souls game. (Beat all of them)
How parry focused is it on a scale of old souls to sekiro?
it's totally optional but it does make the game easier
I can act like a pariah forcing my way through without parries but also feel smug for winning without them too? Perfect.
They are harder to pull off than dodges but help build up stagger if you can get them right, while just dodging lets you avoid the damage but you'll only be building up stagger through attacks. lies of peepee
It's a 9/10 for me
DS1=BB>LoP>DeS>Sekiro>DS3=ER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DS2
Strangers of Paradise of 10/10
Why did they think "P Organ" was a good name for an upgrade system?
they're korean
>He didn't upgrade his pee organ.
fun fact op, if this game didnt have denuveo there would be lots more threads on it.
It's a game, so Ganker hates it
Too hard. Needs easier accessiblity option.
there, there, timmy
Between Demon's and Ninja Blade.
For the record, Ninja Blade is still in 8/10 range.
No advance scaling boss weapons. I just want to proc status ailments in style damn it.
I am still contemplating putting down 10 bucks for XPass to try it out but it looks extremely budget. Also cant see Korea putting out a quality product.
>extremely budget
what does this even mean?
Means it looks like shit compared to Fromsoft games its shamelessly trying to imitate, imbecile. Wtf did you think it meant?
Let me rephrase this. In what fashion do you believe it looks budget? Is it the combat? Graphics? Storytelling? Worldbuilding? All of the above, especially the visuals.
Alright well, game looks fantastic so I'm honestly just going to stop engaging with you, you sound like a moron. Have a good evening/night/morning/whatever time of day it is in your hovel.
Compared to das and das 2? Really? Those looked dated the moment they released.
Pretty good, I think NG+ probably needs a bit of toning down in terms of boss damage output, but other than that it's pretty solid. Might also want to give some of the slower weapons poise/hyper armor since a tiny hit will generally break the attack, which makes them generally non-functioning.

hyper armor would make the bosses obsolete.
a charged attack can do up to 3000 damage in late game.
Bosses typically should deal a ton of poise damage overriding hyperarmor, especially on "big" attacks.
>pander to women and trannies with a twink protagonist
>filter said women and trannies by making the game too hard
>wonder why it flopped
asiatics are fricking moronic
delusion on display
yes asiatics are delusional. glad you agree
One of the best games of the year.
Bussy
Reminder that fable art attacks can also break stagger, so you can use that instead of a charge attack if your charge is too slow. Shot put throwables also break stagger.
the gameplay is too restricting
they copied dark souls except for the variety
it's unironically better than elden ring
bosses have reasonable patterns with obvious openings and the focus on perfect blocks allows you to be far more proactive
also it's hilarious how the bishonen protag triggers all the amerimutts and other assorted Black folk
Of course it's better
It's not open world slop
Better than the games it copies
It's probably the best direct souls clone i've ever seen. I don't consider Nioh to be one of them, so here's that, though.

?
you dont need fast reflexes for this game
what you need is a brain capable of recognizing patterns and memorizing them
Just avoid as much as you can and for the rage attacks, you have the perfect block skill.
It works well enough.
It needs a few more frames to the parrying window.
what's the point of making the protagonist so submissive and breedable?
A tonal whiplash with him being super powerful and slaughtering his way to freedom while making Sophia a living waterfall in his presence
The nier approach.
Down to having machines talking some garbled speech you only understand on your second run.
imagine 9S and P in the same room
>9s
>P
>shota nier
>thrown in adult teen nier because he's still frickable as hell
The main theme of the story is also fairly similar to Nier given what Ergo is. There's even WCS.
Because he's a good boy based on young boys image
It's very close to being actually good but lots and lots of problems that are minor in isolation combine to ruin the whole thing.
Bloodborne with a Tímóthé Chalamandé skin
>Pinocchio is completely silent in the beginning of the game, he doesn't react on getting hit
>the more humanity you gain, the more reactions you hear from him, he actually makes sounds while being hit and making strong attacks
>his idle animations change from more robotic to more natural and humanlike
>the cat in the main hub hisses at him when he's a puppet, the more humanity you gain the more he likes him
>the nose growing out of painting eventually turns into a golden bo staff with a cool moveset
Game is full of soul but amerimutts see Korea and start screeching bugs while reaching for dilators
it's more like weebs who think that shitting on korea makes them japanese
Pretty great. I'm not sure any of the bosses left an impression on me like From's, but Puppet King might be closest.
I like the boss fights but the rest of the game is boring so far.
