Considering the Ock parts in the first title are still praised I would guess a lot of people, and when it comes to Spidey games I want a plot that's at least somewhat engaging. If even Spider-Man on PS1 could do that, then anything released today as no fricking excuse.

Once miles' game gets mods so we can play as peter or whoever else that's not a Black person, the game will be superior in every way to play. Also Dark Souls is a good example. Story doesn't matter at all, you can seek it out if you want through gay lore, but the gameplay experience is what people come for. The sense of adventure, the challenge and the aesthetic of the world itself
