nintendo has enough money and is too stubborn to go 3rd party, but neither of them will do it anytime soon

neither, they hardly overlap. though I'd say Nintendo is more vulnerable because PlayStation always has normies who buy sports games every year playing their consoles.

Because they’ve already taken a step back by abandoning the living room. They’re on the ropes and looking gassed, how long can they stay on their feet at this rate? They made 5+ mario games last year and tried to push dlc as a full zedla game. They’re milking the last few ideas they have for every drop. Now palworld making young kids say Pikawho? Nintendoes in shambles.

If you knew how much money nintendo has in the bank just from switch hardware and software sales alone you wouldn't be posting such stupid shit right now. Like other anons said if they ever go down they're taking their IPs with them to the grave.

Nintendo and Sony both sell lots of consoles, they’re not in the weak position that xbox was

100% Sony. They have nothing to lose at this point, their games are slop. Nintendo is the only big player left, their consoles are sold at a profit, their games sell in the tens of millions, they would be the least interested in doing it.

moron. Sony did timed exclusives in the PS2 era, it’s just that they were so dominant then that it wasn’t worth a lot of developers porting. PS5 is going to sell 150+ million now and there are 50+ games on PS4/PS5 not on PC

Games now are 100+gb and take close to a decade to come out. That era isn't comparable to this one.

Playstation has more market share than Nintendo and Playstation store sells more AAA games than Steam.

I’m more wondering if we’ll get a new console competitor in the market to take place microsoft’s place like what microsoft when sega went third party

Are you ready for the iConsole to come out and buy up exclusivity* for every major game? *Also on macOS and not PC.

Pippin already happened. Apple are doing apple arcade, it’s not simple to break into.

      maybe samsung
one can also consider vr as a type of console

I think due to the digital situation (people having their games on one ecosystem) that won't happen. It would be hard for someone to do so. I think it will just be Nintendo and Sony from now on.

Nintendo. Sony is already going third party, give it a few more years and they won't even be able to afford the timed console exclusivity gimmick because budgets are just that bloated.

Nintendo die and video games die, maybe you dont like it but you know is true

You grossly underestimate Nintendo's sheer autism if you think there's a chance in hell that it's them next. That is some never ever shit, they will burn the ship down before they share their IPs and they have said as much.

The only way I see Nintendo ending the hardware business is if they find a way to have somewhat total control. I see them going full ham if they have to go PC and just make their operating System.
