Huge part of their lore came from either Kirkbride or another gay working at Bethesda that thought black people colonizing another territory rather than being perpetually oppressed was a cool idea.

I remember the interview where they explained it.

              Anonymous

That part predates Kirkbride joining Bethesda, so no. I'm not even sure what Kirkbride meant by that comment because he didn't even write the Redguards' migration to Tamriel. He wrote their cosmology and politics which are cool and unique for the setting.

                >not even sure what Kirkbride meant by that
The main point of that comment was:
                >overly harmonious, forced representation of every race in Fantasy is cringe and that's why it's cool that this universe's black people are genocidal invaders
Which is why he ended the post by proudly bragging about how he had all the "orientals" of the TES universe eaten by shapeshifting snake demons.

              >thought black people colonizing another territory rather than being perpetually oppressed was a cool idea.
And It is. That's the reason you don't have to worry about cringe black victimhood complex in TES unless they do blatant retcons, and you can comfortably mock the fictional lizard and cat people who got the slave status in their stead.

            >african-american black supremacist groups
So? Cleopatra and Hannibal Barca are black apparently, just because people write about shit doesn't make it true. Redguards aren't sub saharan african blacks all they've got is the religion aspect and names.

            >architecture
            You win this one
            >names
Before Skyrim gave them all silly arab names and ESO doubled down (a lot), they used to have anglo names, including shit like Trayvond. The implication was that they were not only supposed to be subsaharan African, but also straight up african-american/caribbean. Their gods also all have clearly african and Vodun inspired names. "Tall Papa" and "Tu'Whacca" isn't exactly something you'd expect from arabs. The implication is that ancient Yokudans were more African-like before the Redguards assimilated a lot of tamrielic culture by adopting Imperial and Breton customs.
            >armour, weapons
Same thing with the names. Pre-Skyrim Redguards were supposed to be heavily Bretonized and Imperialized. They had very little african things about them in terms of clothing and armor, but they had about as much arab shit. With the exception of religious fanatics and desert tribes, Redguards were said to just dress like medieval/roman people and used clearly european-inspired sabers before Skyrim gave them moronic-looking cartoon scimitars.

TL;DR: Redguards were objectively much more african/caribbean-inspired before TES V. TES VI making them more we wuzzery would actually be a return to their original portrayal, not a woke retcon.

Again, names and religion are the only Black African aspects they have. Their naval heritage as well Black Africans have none.

It's taken from colonial European, since africans crewed sometimes and got into piracy. The lore presumes they are captains and shiprights

                >orcs are the real Blacks since they dont have any real achievemenet in TES universe
I wouldn't go that far. They managed to successfully convert themselves from a common enemy type to an established playable race in the setting. Not to mention having their capital sunk numerous times since its founding only to build it back up again. Compared to races like the Sload, Dreugh, Foxgays, Birdmen, men of Akavir, Left handed Elves and the Centaurs they are doing pretty good all things considered.

                >orcs are the real Blacks since they dont have any real achievemenet in TES universe
Way to show you really don't know a lot about TES. Orcs are the best metallurgists in Tamriel, their weapons and armor are canonically sought after by nobles and mercenaries from all across the continent, they conquered their right to be people through dutiful service to the Empire, and they always manage to bring Orsinium back no matter how many times they get destroyed by Bretons and Redguards. There are no "Blacks" (by your definition of the word) in TES, every race has some major quality.

The Hist did that, the Argonians were just the tools they used to do it. Giving credit to the Argonians is like giving credit CoC's sword for protecting Martin and ending the Oblivion Crisis.

But on the flip side if the Hist didn't have the Argonians they wouldn't have been able to fight back in the first place. At least as far as we know. The two are intrinsically linked. I don't think it's a stretch to say the Argonians fought the daedra back.

I enjoyed it initially too. I think that's the case for a lot of people. But the minute you put a number of hours into it, it's issues start to be glaring. Frankly I just found it boring, really boring. And that style of game is something I'd usually enjoy. I like vast open spaces, I enjoy atmosphere, I like the grind, I mean frick I enjoy Ubisoft games. Starfield does not a single thing good, it's either fine, or flat bad.

I put 300h in AC Odyssey, I just really love grindind and a completionist-style gameplay. Now I'm dropping Ubishit forever due to "we wuz samurai n' shit".
But yeah, I feel the same about Starfield. Extremely boring and shallow after some hours.

I hated TESO on release, I then went back a few years after launch and still disliked it. But a couple years ago I give it another go, but this time played it as a single player title, instead of an MMO, and actually got a few months of enjoyment out of it. It's a HORRIBLE MMO, but a half decent single player title. You have to put on some pretty large blinders though.

It's dated as frick, and everything shit from Starfield quest design can be already traced back to it. Let's take for example the Fingers of the Mountain quest, the one you get in the Chorrol Mages Guild.

        >The lizard asks you to get rid of the edgy mage woman from in front of the Guild
You can't get the quest from her, you have to talk to the lizard and then she magically decides she can trust you. Can't just kill her as she's essential.
        >She says that she needs a book
You can't just go get the book, as it only magically appears after you tell the lizard everything she is planning to do.
        >Now you either give the book to the lizard or the woman
Here you have to tell the lizard you gave the book to her anyway. Can't lie, can't just wait until she is done with it and bring it back to him so he doesn't know anything. Oh, can you can't fail the quest because you need the recommendation, because we don't want to lock out the player out of anything, or make some alternative way to progress in the Guild.

It's shit, the only way to enjoy it is to brainlessly follow the quest markers and never use your brain.

There is no way they wont frick this up untill they completely restart the whole pre-production cycle. TES6 will be procedurally generated piece of shit.

All that exists is a brown UE 5 mock up to tease shareholders. I bet they made very little progress and are now panicking that Starfield won't be a 10 year plan let alone a 5 year one

Starfield won't fulfill a 2 year plan. I bought the fricking collector's edition and I don't even want to see what Shattered Space is. I just want them to frick off and die.

why would they be panicking? starfield boosted gamepass and broke records for their service. they also said they are committed to 1 or 2 years, not 10 years. i doubt TES6 is starting full time development any time soon either way.

If public opinion doesn't turn on Starfield after the DLCs I think there's a good chance Bethesda will rush the development of TES to put out a 'winner' before 2030, which will probably mean a 3 year dev cycle and lots of underdeveloped, poorly realized content and mechanics.

It's far more likely that Microsoft tells the other studios to take a crack at it while BGS picks up the pieces

        Anonymous

I could see them letting another studio take a crack at Fallout or some other secondary IP, but I think Bethesda put a solid steel chastity belt on TES. Of course M$ can always find a way to get around it but I think Beth would really fight them on giving up control on TES. If there is a 'real' non-Bethesda TES title before 2030 I would imagine it would be another small spin-off like Redguard.

There is no way Bethesda would EVER let another studio take on an Elder Scrolls title. Bethesda IS Elder Scrolls. If another studio did make an Elder Scrolls game, and it ended up being good, Microsoft would shutter Bethesda the very next month.

I'm sure they have clauses on clauses on clauses in their contracts about how much control Beth has over their IPs. Bethesda knows TES is the backbone of their image, there's no way they would agree to be bought if it meant they would risk giving up control of it.

It's going to be a loser too
Slopfield is soulless because BGS is creatively bankrupt and can't develop an interesting world to save their lives. Even the Elder Scrolls legacy can't save them, they're going to find a way to ruin it with the blandest safest most boring story, characters and world imaginable

I just listened to the long ass 8 hour Starfield one the other day, pretty decent. I tried listening to the Skyrim one today but I couldn't do it. I just find those types of videos to generally be too nit picky for my taste.

      Try patricianTVs short review.

If anything, Starfield bombing can only be good for TES VI.
Bethesda needs to hire more frickers so that they can actually make a AAA game instead of sprucing up and old game in an older engine with slightly better graphics, rip out even more character build customization, and then slap a full price tag on it while waiting for modders to do their job for them.
I don't think Todd realized there was a shit game line where modders would collectively say "Frick you".

The main Bethesda Studio fricking hates that lore and was definetly slowly phasing It out until ESO and Legends suddenly decided to depict the multiple khajiit forms regularly
So unless Todd cares about consistency with the MMO and the card game, I think it's quite unlikely
