Literally the best game in the trilogy. No, Kiddy Kong's existence doesn't mean the many fantastic levels and worlds are invalid, no matter how big your troony screams are.
What the frick did you just frick satin about me you little b***h I'll Habs hit know I graduated to if my clef in the guzzlers seals and I am the to quickscoper in the ahrma you are nothing to me but just another pokemon I will calorie you and mmmmm in a hyuuhgy
>90's gamers and journalists alike completely wrote off the entire game just because they didn't like the aesthetic of one of the characters
It's crazy how far standards have fallen since then.
Weird you say troony screams but this would appeal the most to them

There's something really off about it. I'm not sure I can articulate it, but just the way the game looks is weird. I feel like everything looks bigger and rounder. The music is also not as memorable.
I think it just goes to show that main character design is VERY important
Not wanting to play it because Kiddy Kong is a garbage character is a completely valid opinion. You have to look at his dumb fricking mug for much of the game. This wasn't the first or the last game to get shit on for having a bad protagonist.
I've always defended it, I legit think people saying it was too gimmicky are delusional when that's the entire identity of the series. DKC always had gimmicks. The only real complaint is that Baby Kong is shit.
I thought the quality declined a bit with each one. 2 was still great and took the level design further but it lacked the atmosphere of 1. 3 just didn’t have anything memorable about it.
The setting is boring compared to the second game. That game had wonderfully thematic pirate levels and even carnival rides. This game has Canadian nature scapes. It’s as boring as it sounds.

It's pretty mediocre. Bad music, ugly aesthetic, and annoying gimmicky levels.
it's completely devoid of soul. you can tell nobody at rare wanted to be working on it, especially since it came out in the twilight years of the SNES
It was never bad, it's just you have to compare it to the prequels. DKC2 is the best 2D platform of all time and DKC1 is probably top 10, so it's a hard comparison. My issue is all the various gimmicks for levels, some of which are shit.
Honestly it’s a perfectly good sequel. There was no way they could make a better “normal” platformer than DKC2, so I think it’s a good thing they went all-out with the gimmicks and made it more distinguished.
Its alright. But Kiddy Kong was a terrible partner and they should've had Dixie team up with DK to save Diddy instead or mix it up a little and let you switch between the four kongs. Also the art style in the game was kind of weird. Its the point where Rare's games started looking more like what you would see in Banjo Kazooie.
The problem is more that none of the games are as good as people remember so it shifts the discussion to nostalgia rather than something closer to an assessment of the game. I thought DKC was magic but I remember it aging like shit rapidly as I went back to it over the years. If it wasn't for the sound design and art, I'm pretty sure it would be completely forgotten by now.
It's OK

people still do that you moron. Ganker endlessly shits on games that have ugly characters even if the game is good. see returnal.
The level design is pretty fricking bad though.

That was always the case
>garbage opinion
>immediately invokes trannies out of fricking nowhere
Great post.
I like it more than the first. DKC2>DKC3>DKC
but all of them are god tier.

This game has been "redeemed" for like 5+ years now which is funny because it sold well and was reviewed well in its time, both on the SNES and GBA.
I've always defended it, I legit think people saying it was too gimmicky are delusional when that's the entire identity of the series. DKC always had gimmicks. The only real complaint is that Baby Kong is shit.
Yes, it's not as bad as everyone says because it's exactly as mediocre as every DKC game.
I thought the quality declined a bit with each one. 2 was still great and took the level design further but it lacked the atmosphere of 1. 3 just didn’t have anything memorable about it.
2 had peak atmosphere
it's completely devoid of soul. you can tell nobody at rare wanted to be working on it, especially since it came out in the twilight years of the SNES
also the music is complete pigshit
Music in 2 sucked as well imo. 1 was by far the best in that department.
>Music in 2 sucked as well imo
kys
I like this song, it's silly, amazing song for the first world and level
The setting is boring compared to the second game. That game had wonderfully thematic pirate levels and even carnival rides. This game has Canadian nature scapes. It’s as boring as it sounds.
You mean it’s as kino as it sounds
Disagree
>dkc3 music bad
For me it's

It's my favorite of the trilogy and one of my favorite games
It's obvious it was made by the B team. If you don't compare it to the first two games it's still a well above average snes title.

Its definitely better than 1 at least. 2 is the best platformer of all time though.

2 > 1 > 3 > shit > all the n64, wii and switch games
That's a bit harsh. Tropical Freeze is a very good game worthy of being among the original trilogy or, at the very least, not that far behind
It's not bad, but they really should've let use choose which Kong we wanted to use, the same for DK2. The ones not chosen would be ones to be saved.
