Got me to quit for good. Worst expac ever released or at least WoD tier. They had a design choice to make They listened to the wrong audience. WoW will never be relevant again. The people who like it love it but they listened to WoD arcade sweatiest and veered away from RPG progression and world content. They can lie in that bed now they will never be relevant again. But I'm sure the remaining minority will love their pve moba shit heap. But the game will never be widely popular again.

they had exactly that in Shadowlands and everyone b***hed about it

It was generally a good step in the right direction. The show is still run by mindbroken trannies and it shows in all the writing, which is a shame, but as far as gameplay and systems designs go it was consistently very positive, more so than anything since legion.

Better than Shadowlands. But not better enough. Too many good features took too long to fix/implement.
And unfortunately I don't think TWW will be a step up.

I really like the dragonflying and survival hunter is a lot of fun. Other than that, nothing special but better than Shadowlands. The story was garbage but the story in WoW was garbage for a decade now

    pros
-talent trees have lots of genuinely interesting choices and it feels good to fill it out
-new areas are pretty, presentation is all-around quite high for a 20 year old game
-genuine attempt to give players lots of casual content to do so the game isn't just mythic+, raiding and pvp
    -evoker is ok I guess
-dragonflying is the fastest and most convenient form of travel yet

    cons
    -dracthyr look like shit
-writing is genuinely really bad. like embarrassingly terrible
-content is still designed to be disposable, or to put another way, there's no reason to play anything but the latest patch content on any character, ever
-some specs have way too many fricking buttons and a ridiculously convoluted rotation
-dragonflying is the fastest and most convenient form of travel yet

    thoughts

while better than shadowlands and its clear it was made with something resembling care, the game is just a bloated overdesigned mess. 20 years of piling shit on top of this game and the engine underneath is creaking, and the original vision for what the game was meant to be has long been lost.
there's a ridiculous amount of redundant content. classes are too complicated. raiding and mythic+ are too complicated. the game is basically impenetrable for a new player and exhausting for veterans.
as for dragonflight's content itself, it feels very safe. like they're just trying not to upset anyone because they don't want to lose any more players.

I play destruction warlock. Its 4 button rotation.
And 2 other buttons I press occasionally.
Its an extremely comfy class to play.

      >the original vision for what the game was meant to be has long been lost
Blizzard only plans for seasonal content now.
      >classes are too complicated. raiding and mythic+ are too complicated.
More so because the player base expects you to know now just your class at ahigh level but in case of M+ routes that other people made to do things as fast as possible.
The D3 Design team being folded into WoW to support them was one of the all time worst decsions they ever made for WoW. Its design influnce on the ever more content has ruined the community (that was left) and the game.
Nothing from TWW seems like its going to be interesting and the writing was worse.

This. How the frick can ground mounts even compete? Why should I give a frick about getting kel'thuzad's slime cat mount if it's ground shit?

Mounts are for throwing on the mount pile. You don't actually ride them. You take a screenshot of you looting the mount and post it to r/wow.

In three weeks any butthole with a pulse can get the Huolon heavenly onyx cloud serpent from Pandaria remix.

      >the game is basically impenetrable for a new player
18 years worth of content to choose to level in. You will be utterly alone if you choose anything other than what the game chooses for you.

No more earning spells and abilities, or learning how to use CC, nothing but level as fast as you can round-up dungeon mobs and AE them down like it's trivial (because it is) then suddenly force new players to actually do shit when they hit heroic content and they're hopelessly lost because they had to hit two buttons up until that point.

Gold and the economy is absurd. You won't be able to afford anything until max level. No gear quality besides purple matters at all, you may as well be naked without epics.

The talents are cool if you're a veteran, it just looks like a page of meaningless little circles to a new player. I don't play rogue much and I tried to pick level 70 rogue talents on my own and I spent 10 minutes reading what they do and still wasn't sure how it all aligned (subtlety). To a new player that must be beyond daunting.

I had fun mythic raiding the first two seasons, but the break between killing Sarkareth and season 3 launch date was too much for me so I quit. From what I've heard, last tier was a major pain in the ass to prog.

      >From what I've heard, last tier was a major pain in the ass to prog.
going from completion numbers it was the hardest tier in the history of the game. the last three bosses were full of pass/fail mechanics that instawipe the raid if a single person makes a mistake.

WoW's transition into a mainly single player collect-a-thon.

If you want toys, pets, mounts, and transmogs there's tens of thousands of hours to devote to getting them and posting your achievements on r/wow.

You can still do mythic+ and raids for progressions, but without a tight-knit guild you'll be doing it with Brazilians and Chinese. If your dungeon rating add-on score gets too low you won't ever do anything ever again, that's the only way to get invites to pugs anymore.

    Dracthyr looks terrible.
The concept of having 10 levels of completely forced unskippable god awful storyline made me hate the expansion and have to stop playing for at least a year to recover from that suffering. Just let players level with any of the million other activities in the game instead of forcing the horrible main story.

I came back for emerald dream recently and its fun and LFR is a chill nice way to experience raids. Its fun now, and actually an enjoyable experience if you just start at the start of the emerald dream. If the expansion had just been that I would of been more than happy.

I rate it 8/10 once you get past the main storyline. And 2/10 for the 10 levels of dragonflight going through the main story.

It's a kind of soft reset for me. Whole expac was just a foundation for the next changes, and i like them. World events, new gearing systems with crests etc. Those are super cool for me since i am a filthy casual and can't hardcore raid due to lack of time.
Overall great expansion, and a disclaimer i am seasonal player. I just hop in, do story, do some LFR, some bgs for fun, collect some shit, burn out and frick off to other games.
Spent more time in it than Shadowlands and BFA combined. I wish it were less gay, and more manly. I like sweaty man power fantasy in my wow.
    ps. Garrosh did nothing wrong.

also i am excited for War within. Looks like a fun expansion.
