fantastic, adds enough to the 2D formula without upsetting miyamoto for being too innovative

i just started playing it, I think its absolute kino, on par with Yoshi's Island. Its the GoW3 of 2D mario

      Pretty great
Slow start but nice level ideas
      Better than 3D Land

      >on par with Yoshi's Island. Its the GoW3 of 2D mario
The frick does that have to do with anything ?

NSMB slop. Nobody would care if not for the brand.

pretty fun and innovative, I just wish the special world was actually challenging.

I liked it, if you go back to something like nsmbu after playing it you'll realize the previous game feel more stiff

    Enjoyable.

Brother and I played through the first two worlds last night. Fun enough, but we didn't think it was groundbreaking or mind-shatteringly amazing.

It was fun and had a ton of charm in every single level, but it has absolutely no replay value because of how easy it was and how there's no variation at all in the characters you select except for Yoshi, and the badges are just not a good excuse to go and replay the levels. The airship levels were too few with no end bosses in them and Bowser Jr. was the only worlds boss in the entire game, with two worlds even missing a boss fight.

      My thoughts exactly.

      Basically this.
It also introduces hundreds of unique enemies and features only to never use them again.

      This is pretty much it.
I tried to replay it the other day and just couldn't get into it.

The online co op was the best part of the experience. Playing this at launch trying to figure the levels out with total strangers helping each other find secrets was pure kino. Pirate bootlegger gays completely missed out on this and it brought me extreme joy

no it wasn't, it was just another easy mode.

It does some fun things but I can't help but still feel the New Super Mario Bros stank on it. There has been so many soulless 2D marios that something about the entire formula is just tainted now. Also I hate the furry OC elephant Mario

It never got anymore difficult than world 3. It has such cool ideas and the levels are all stuck being as hard as the midpoint of any of the previous 2D Mario's. I feel like if it didn't have a new art style it would be getting shit on a lot more. They really should've locked the abilities behind characters. I like that they hide blocks in subtle areas like the very beginning of the first stage hiding a 1up block in plain sight, but that's just my treasure hunting autism jumping at every wall and ring of coins. Would've been cool if you needed to use the badges, but I 100%'d the entire thing in like 20 hours using the coin badge or the Mario 2 jump that I barely used
    6/10 I liked NSMB2 and Wii more

It marketed itself so hard as being above NSMB slop, but unironically ended up being sloppier than all of them.

Its fine. In no way one of the best 2d platformers tho.
Its fine, just too many mechanics that go nowhere

Would greatly benefit from a set of challenges, like "complete x level with y badge, eventually under z amount of time".
The badge system is great but it needs more incentive to experiment and use even the least optimal or even detrimental ones. I still hope that sooner or later an update or DLC will add something like that.

It ripped off Rayman Origins and DK tropical freeze
    More games should do this

Shitty troony VAs, barely any music and its short as frick. It will only be remembered for the deviantart fetishes and I think that should tell you enough.

It's good, but it deliberately glimps itself from being great. There are huge ideas present but it feels like they're over and done with before they're properly expanded upon. If every gimmick had a hidden challenge level, it'd be the GOAT, but it really is too boring and easy most of the time. In fact I would say the actual obstacle course design was better in NSMBU.
