Double Agent had that "consoles and pc versions are two different worlds bs" and then Conviction turned it into a third person shooter which Blacklist doubled down on
>"consoles and pc versions are two different worlds bs"
The split is more based on how powerful the hardware was. The PS3, PC and 360 versions were the same game and the other (and supposedly better) version was made for Xbox, PS2, Gamecube and Wii.
It tried to change too much. They've learned ever since, that's why every Far Cry plays the same since 3.
PC version was the same as 360 and PS3, except broken.
6th gen versions were entirely different.
Double Agent's PC version wasn't that bad. It felt like a fan made mod for Chaos Theory that tried too hard.
nta but I actually did manage to do it. There was this one time I tried to beat it with knocking/killing as little enemies as possible. Had my game frozen at the final cutscene after you disarm the bomb until I changed my resolution
>Double Agent's PC version wasn't that bad.
Nah, it was that bad. It was a sad, broken game. Sure. you can finish it, even have some fun from time to time, but what's the point? Most of the time you will be busy praying the game won't shit itself in the least opportune moment.
>it wasnt a bad game >modern assassins creed
Yes it was a VERY bad game specifically because it played like a modern ass creed game, by the numbers soulless slop.
>Yes it was a VERY bad game
did it have a coherent plot?
did it crash every 10 minutes?
did it inject irl onions bs for good goy points?
it was mediocre but not anywhere near the shit we get now.
give blacklist a try, you will be pleasantly surprised
you literally have three other games in the series like chaos theory and just want that kind of player controller over and over. blacklist is absolutely more mobile and assasins creed like or something but its handled well and factored into in the overall design very competently.
The Hobo Fisher game looked more interesting than the version of Conviction we got. Also interesting that in the 2007 beta its canon that Lambert didn't die
They spent 4 years making Conviction which killed the franchise. Everything related to it only got more moronic after that
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Clancy%27s_Splinter_Cell#Tom_Clancy's_Splinter_Cell:_Firewall_(2022) >It was written by James Swallow and will feature Sam Fisher's daughter, Sarah, working alongside her father.
Is this canon? Wouldn't Sarah be like 40 at this point?
Hobo fisher was interesting. Everything they did to the gameplay was a mistake.
>make game with good shooting mechanics >still kinda punish the player for playing it like a shooter >make the stealth mechanics absolute ass so playing stealthily is a pain
>Wouldn't Sarah be like 40 at this point?
30-something. I guess it's not the dumbest plot point Ubi has introduced. Superspy Black Widow Grim still takes the cake.
Grim's character design has been really inconsistent throughout the series. My personal theory is that the character designer in Conviction mixed up Iceland with Ireland and made Grim a redhead.
They've changed her VA for Blacklist as well. What the frick? Her original voice was so distinct, I was upset when Ubi recast her for PT.

I liked her in CT. Reminded me of Renee Zellweger in Bridget Jones' diary

Its an 8/10 third person shooter with stealth elements.

She also had the best banter in CT. While in previous games she was stuck up and professional almost to a fault, in CT they finally allowed her to loosen up a bit.
blacklist is unfairly hated. its a little too slick and mobile for splinter cell, but its still a really cool design for a highly mobile stealth game. really fun takedown animations, decent challenges to be found. feels maybe a bit like uncharted in its player controller but thats not a bad thing necessarily, the uncharted games ARE back to back set pieces and not that great but you have to admit their player controller feels pretty nice
conviction is by FAR what people accused blacklist of being. conviction fricking sucks wiener.
Ubisoft changed.
>Spl(in)ter (Cel)l
coincidence?
>spliter l.
I don't get it.
Boring western action slop. The japs did it better at the time.

You'll be extremely lucky to finish the game without save corruption.

I hate blacklist so much.
There are mouth breathers who actually defend it.
Its impressive how good CT still looks
And controls.
The most underrated part of Splinter Cell games is controls. They still feel pretty modern in that regard.
it wasnt a bad game, but it wasnt splinter cell, it'd have fit better as a modern assassins creed

blacklist is not even close to a very bad game, in fact, its actually decent.
I never played it yet i already know for a fact it is a better game than Splinter Cell 1.
I just can't get over Sam's new John GI Joe voice.
I dunno why they picked this actor of all people. Sarah's VA is older than him.

double agent still had console exclusive versions in 2006 that massively differed in terms of quality
and that after chaos theory ....
They spent 4 years making Conviction which killed the franchise. Everything related to it only got more moronic after that
Conviction was restarted at least once during the development. Remember hobo Fisher?
Hobo fisher was interesting. Everything they did to the gameplay was a mistake.

Love Blacklist Gim, me. Phwoar

all the games like splinter cell, hitman, dishonored are just thief for dumb people. if you appreciate thief, you wont be able to appreciate these
bizarre take
thief was super overrated even at the time
You must have not played the games recently. It started at the bottom of the barrel.
Everyone tried to COD every franchise they owned.
